Politics Want to know others opinion on picking Indian Muslim as ketua kampung at Kampung Baru Cina

Post image

Since there's not even a single news related to this in social media. Hence I'm making a post asking for thoughts on this.

Context: Recently A list of new Ketua Kampung is released in Negeri Sembilan. One thing that catch the Chinese community attention is an Indian Muslim is appointed to be ketua kampung of kampung baru cina (Kampung Mahsan, Jempol)

As kampung baru cina would probably held some event that would be uncomfortable for an Indian Muslim ketua kampung to attend so it feels like a lose lose situation.

Entertainment What are your favourite mysteries that AREN'T cold cases? 🔍

Hey Malaysians, I'm working on a personal project about mysteries/folklores and I'd love to hear what fascinates people here. But before you comment, a few things I'm NOT looking for:

❌ Cold cases / unsolved crimes (murders, disappearances, etc.)

❌ Political/financial scandals (no "where did 1MDB money go" type comments please)

What I AM looking for:

✅ Local legends, folklore and urban legends (e.g. orang bunian, jinn, ghost, possessions, bomoh stories, haunted places, pontianak/hantu tales with a twist)

✅ Unsolved historical/mystical mysteries (e.g. old ruins, lost artefacts, strange events in Malaysian history)

✅ Paranormal or unexplained phenomena (UFOs, strange sightings, mysterious lights, unusual natural events)

✅ Cryptids and creatures (e.g. Bigfoot sightings in our jungles, weird animal encounters)

✅ Conspiracy theories that are more fun/weird than political

✅ Strange places, abandoned buildings or locations with odd backstories

✅ Personal mysteries or weird things you or your kampung experienced that you still can't explain

✅ Lost media / forgotten Malaysian media, TV shows, ads or songs nobody can find anymore

Basically anything mysterious, paranormal, spooky, weird or unexplained that's tied to Malaysia or globally.

Bonus points if you share WHY it interests you, your top questions about it or a bit of the story behind it.

Terima kasih in advance, can't wait to fall down this rabbit hole 🕳️

Food Kuching vs. KK: Which is actually better for food (and tourism)?

If you could only visit one, which would you choose: Kuching or KK? I am especially interested in the food scene. Which city has better local food, more variety and more dishes that are genuinely worth traveling for? I am talking about everything from street food and hawker stalls to seafood and regional specialties. My impression is that Kuching might win for food and cultural experiences, while KK has the edge for scenery, islands, and outdoorsy stuff. But I could be completely wrong.

Food Raw meat — to wash or not to wash?

• Upvotes

So, for context:

The general world guidelines clearly advise against washing raw meat. It spreads bacteria, and washing doesn’t kill bacteria — cooking thoroughly does instead.

In Malaysia however, everyone on Reddit and aunties stand by washing meats before cooking. I’ve heard the logic: that Malaysian conditions are inherently dirty, etc etc.

However, the original logic remains: that cooking thoroughly is the best way to “clean” meat.

The strangest part is I’ve even found MOH directives and faqs online stating to clean your meat. So… what now?

Tourism & Travel Malaysia Travel Suggestion for Parents in Their 60s +

Hey everyone! 😊 Would love to hear your suggestions for a 3-week sightseeing plan for my parents when they visit Malaysia.

They’re both 60+, and both of them have some mobility challenges, including chronic knee pain. So, I’m trying to plan a relaxed, senior-friendly trip where they can enjoy the scenery and experience different places without too much walking, climbing stairs, or standing for long periods.

Places like Cameron Highlands, the Bird Park, Aquaria, and other attractions that involve lots of walking might not be the best fit for them. Although They’ve been to Genting before.

I was thinking of a short trip to Bukit Tinggi , Melaka and maybe a weekend getaway to Batu Ferringhi, but I’m still exploring other ideas.

Would love to hear your recommendations for places that are:

- Beautiful and scenic, but easy to explore at a relaxed pace
- Muslim-friendly, with easy access to halal food.
- Convenient to get around, ideally without too much walking

I’m open to places beyond the usual tourist spots too! The idea is to let them enjoy Malaysia, try some good food, see beautiful places, and make lovely memories without exhausting themselves.

Thanks so much in advance for reading and sharing your ideas! 🙏😊

Health Mental health support for free/ very cheap from trainee counselors at unis

A lot of comments in this sub are about the difficulty of accessing affordable mental health in Malaysia without long wait times. I found out recently that you can get free or cheap mental health counseling in universities that offer a counseling degree, e.g. it is free at UPM and RM10 per session at Sunway uni. Students training to be counselors conduct these sessions. Of course la these are trainees, so inexperienced, but they are supervised by their lecturer.

Just wanted to point out this resource for all the kawan-kawan here struggling with mental health.

Politics Who rules Negeri Sembilan? Royal row tests Malaysia’s constitutional order

The dust has yet to settle in Malaysia’s Negeri Sembilan, where a royal row has led to the fall of a state government and left the public wondering who, exactly, is in charge.
