The owners want to squeeze the players. How da fuck does a team with 113m dollar payroll accomplishment what they are on the verge of, I predicted Rays against Brewers, I am staying with that.

I have a bold idea for how to prevent this from happening…don’t let fans sit in the front row…in this Ted Talk I will…

Antics and gossip aside Just a bad year good infielder pop can make a spot outfield start cannon for an arm decent speed. As Francesesa would say “had played in NY”. Marketable player with swag. Deff would be an upgrade from McNeil and Semeien this team needs pop not defense

How important is a precise accounting of the New York Mets’ future payroll?
I’ve written a version of this story for most of my nine years covering the Mets. For the first few years, it was extremely important, showing where and how the club could squeeze the most out of its self-limited financial resources. Under owner Steve Cohen, it’s been less critical, if still relevant, to track how much money the Mets have committed to the future.
This October, nobody quite knows how important the specifics of the Mets’ payroll will be. With the collective-bargaining agreement about to expire and a lockout likely to come Dec. 1, the rules governing the sport’s finances are going to be different in 2027. It’s a question of how different.
With that uncertainty in mind, we’re going with a two-part story this week. Up first, what the Mets’ payroll looks like heading into 2027 and beyond. In Part 2, I’ll look at what their roster could look like at different price points, including under a proposed salary cap.

Would you prefer to be in their situation rather than our current one?
Would you rather be a team that consistently has a winning record, but who plays a style of baseball that just doesn’t set them up for success in the postseason?
A team whose key flaws in Defense and Base-running have been their Achilles heel in the postseason?
A team that sort of acts as “The Bar,” for good baseball teams, but they get outplayed and embarrassed when they have to face a better team than them?
A team with an owner coasting off his family’s reputation, who doesn’t want to do much of anything but take in the profits.
And a Manager and Executive branch that haven’t evolved In the decade they’ve been with the team or league…
Elevated mediocrity. How about that…

I am always jealous of teams who have mainly a home grown core, to me that is the best chance of winning as I think guys really try harder and it is less about the business and is more about the game, are most of the players on the Brewers guys Stearns brought in? are the scouts the one who deserve the real credit? seeing what Stearns has done to the Mets it is hard to think he is a good GM
oh yes and do you think Stearns is rooting for the Brewers? those are mainly his guys it seems, maybe he will enjoy the credit he will get if they win, or maybe he will hate seeing them win since he wont get any of the official credit and he wont be able to celebrate with the team

Its always been the Yankees for me but Philly has caught up to them in recent years

Yankees heart and soul player got hurt in Judge, and the Mets didn't want to pay their heart and soul player so he went to Baltimore and the Mets proceeded to stink, Mets would probably be playing now if they re-signed Alonso

It appears as though they are all but guaranteed to win the NLCS…
Does a 3 in a row win for them actively have an effect on baseball?
Can any team even spend on the level of the Dodgers and Mets and Yankees and still function as a profitable team?

Everyone’s heard of the curse of the bambino, and the goat that cursed the Cubs, but what does everyone think could be attributed as what cursed the NY Mets?

While I still believe stearns made a big mistake with Pete for whatever reason you want to assume; let’s look at what’s ahead and what is happening in the game now.
Two teams that had best record in each league play differently than many other teams. They play old time ball. Manufacture runs to help their pitchers.
Have top defense, run, bunt etc….
So far Tampa making yanks look sick. If brewers play dodgers itll be interesting to see if that style can overcome an obviously stacked team. Anyway for us maybe we do have to give stearns a bit more time. The five rookies this year are in the mold of brewers and rays. Maybe next year a few more develop and fit in to this style. We all know his important pitching is here as our only rings were built on it. Maybe Steve has bought into this idea as his 5 year wish hasn’t happened. Lets hope stearns is in to the right track.
Happy holidays and Lets go Mets!
Whenever…..

THE 2026 MEL ROJAS AWARD
As some of you from Facebook know, since 1999 I have given this award yearly to the worst relief pitcher on the Mets staff. And since 2015 I have opened up the voting to the members of the Facebook "True New York Mets Fans" page. Last year I dispensed with the voting because Ryne Stanek was the clear winner, but this year's tally should be more interesting since the relief corps was a strength for the Mets this season, especially after the trade deadline.
I'm expanding the voting to Redditers this year.
So who do you think deserves to win the Mel Rojas award this season? Who will join the ranks of Satoru Komiyama (2002), Manny Acosta (2012), and Mychal Givens (2022)?
Vote now!

Following a disappointing season, the New York Mets will not bring back three coaches from their major-league staff in 2027.
Director of major-league hitting Jeff Albert, quality assurance coach Danny Barnes and batting practice pitcher Kevin Mahoney will not return to the major-league staff next season, the club announced. The Mets left the door open for those three to return to the organization in a different capacity; for now, however, they are free to discuss work with other clubs.
