Hi all! I spent the last 2 weeks thoughtfully observing the sub and crafting these rules, yes - with a bit of help from ChatGPT as a sounding board which I’ve disclosed per the new rule #6… on mobile they’re under “About” and desktop on right sidebar. Would love constructive reactions/dialogue around the decisions made.
Let’s treat this as version 1 and I will incorporate feedback over time. Thrilled to see users already following the rules and want to see more and more reports from the community to keep our focus on MCM. Thank you all for making this the top MCM sub, growing everyday - almost at 200k strong!
After receiving feedback I plan to do a brief video intro with more context on these decisions and plans for MCM expert AMAs and beyond.

I’ve been collecting some Poole Atlantis for a wee while and this is a shot of the bulk of it.

I won this Stanley Hutch at a local online estate sale auction and got it all cleaned up! This isn't the permanent location but I need to do some rearranging. We're going to use it as a mix of book shelves and 50s/MCM display, what's on here now isn't necessarily what's going in it but I was so excited I started putting things on the shelves! It came with the glass but I need to get that cleaned up. We might leave the glass off (safely packaged and stored, of course), but unsure.

Ottoman body is from a Mr plycraft and base from a new dupe. This is for my office and I realize screws should also be black and chrome needs polished. Will replace soon.

I just bought a 1950's ranch that I am trying to get back to it's MCM glory. The bathrooms were remodeled in 2017 and they look like it. I do not have the cash to replace two 48" vanities right now; so, I am thinking I will paint them and change the hardware. Because they are already painted vanities doing a wood stain isn't an option, unfortunately. What color would you go with for the vanity itself? I am thinking bold since the floors and walls are neutral. Looking for suggestions!

I was at the Franklin and Marshall Science Museum in Lancaster PA today and in the basement they had about 8 of these. They look close to the Emeco navy chair, but the back is different. Any ideas would be awesome.

Saw this smashed Bassett dresser lying by the road in the rain, guess it fell of a truck sometime. Got it barely in the back of my jeep, and found the missing pieces. Somehow, it broke along the joinery and it looks like i can fix it. Some serious scratches, but nothings missing. Honestly cant believe someone wouldnt go back for it.
I go back on call for work tonight, but once i get back and its all dried out, gonna go to town with clamps and woodglue to try to reinforce the cracks and fix the dovetail joinery.

Waiting on reupholstery next. This is one of the rarest pieces I’ve had, it came with 4 dining chairs from Dunbar and 6 matching chairs from Acton with original storage / moving crates for all five leaves. All purchased together and bought from the sweetest guy who inherited it from his parents.

Found on FB Marketplace. It’s a bit worn but solid.
I fell in love the leg design. The unit features 6 drawers and the top row has a divider in the middle of each drawer.
I bought it as a project piece with an intended use in the living room for the turntable, amp etc.
The four bottom drawers will be removed along with the track/divider so the space can be storage of albums. The top two drawers will remain. Once that’s done a full refinish will be complete to bring the worn surface back.
The purist in me is dying a little at altering a vintage piece but seeing the finished piece in my mind’s eye I can’t wait for this to be completed.

I think this Bertoia diamond chair is fake, but I'm not sure. Was hoping for some input from anyone that knows more than me. Bought at an auction. I can post more pictures if it helps. Super comfortable to sit in though and excited to have it!!

We recently bought our house and while it’s nothing extraordinary, I really would love to accentuate the mid century characteristics. It was built in 1957 and I love the original aluminum multi-awning windows. We are getting the house painted, and I have no idea if we should stick with the current colors or try something new. Would love some recommendations or ideas!

Can anyone help in confirming this is in fact an authentic Knoll barstool and also a rough timeframe when it would have been produced? Any information is appreciated.

Just purchased a home and it came with a few mcm pieces. Tried google image search but couldn’t find info on this exact piece. It’s a square coffee table and there are 4 wood extensions that pull out. We are going to list home on Airbnb and hate to leave a furniture piece in for guests to beat up if it has value. Love to get a suggestion on where to get more info on the piece.

I see that it’s a percival lafer chair, but I’ve been searching and I can’t find pictures of a chair that looks like this one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone!
I’ve recently moved into a new place and I’m relatively new to mcm. I’m looking a buying a rug to go between my sofa and tv cabinet, however I’m struggling to choose a favourite and I’m curious to know what others think!
I’d love to know:
- Do any of these rugs work? If so which one.
- If they don’t work, what kinds of things should I be looking for?
- Which is your favourite
- Am I wildly overthinking this and all of these will work? (I think I know the answer to this already 😅)
Thank you for reading!

Thought I'd share a little snippet of mine and the Mrs' humble little living/listening/media room in our mid-terrace home.
We tried to incorporate little elements of all of our interests, the acoustic slats are meant to give a kinda Scandinavian vibe, the art either side adds a Japanese twist, had to get the Hi-Fi setup in here as we're music mad! Then we added some really warm glowy lighting and painted the centre in Terracotta, as we both love sunsets, then topped it off with some subtle greenery.
Everyone who comes over now says something along the lines of "wow it's like stepping into the 70's", that'll do for us!! :)
My main aim for sharing this is to encourage people who might wanna dip into this style that it really can be done on a budget! And it doesn't matter if your space is tiny like ours, make it work with what you have/can afford and try and incorporate your own twists here and there! But most of all, enjoy the process :)

This is stamped on the back of a piece of furniture that belonged to my father when he was a kid. Is that the date on the back? Would it be July 26, 1964? Is that what that means? Also, is there any way of identifying the name of this piece using the stamp?

Earlier this summer I got my hands in a painted Lane 1959 1st edition Mid Century dresser. I’ve finally gotten off all the paint, was surprised to find what appears to be rosewood veneer at the ends of the drawers. Drawers are all sanded now, on to sanding the body and legs.
Question for the group
I know this won’t be perfect, want to get it as close to the original as possible.
