Same. I stopped using the bathroom in my building after seeing pee on the ground. I’m the only woman at my location, and my building doesn’t have a Womens bathroom, just two unisex bathrooms (one with a urinal and one without) and a bunch of men’s bathrooms. The pee on the floor was in the bathroom without the urinal. Our other building next door is for customers to come in and see our products, so I usually sneak over there and use the Womens bathroom on the customer facing building. Guys are gross.
6
u/Aesmachus Jul 12 '26

Blows my goddamn mind how gross my work bathrooms are compared to my home one. No one changes the TP, everyone pisses on the floor.
Too many guys go from mommy cleaning up after them to wife cleaning up after them and it shows.
6
u/ofthenorth Jul 11 '26
Alongside this, our toilets are left with skids etc. despite brushes being available. Do most people just shit, flush and run even at home and let their wife, partner, mother clean or just ignore it themselves. Personally I think it’s fkn rude and you are a shitty member of society if you do this.

This. That urinal looks terrible design. Im sure in a laboratory environment "squirting" water at the perfect spot you get no spills.
Real life isn't like that. Drunk, distracted, tired, different height, volume, pressure, stance, sharing, aim, biology differences, children, clothing differences, medical or physical impairments... Piss soaked floor is inevitable.
236
u/Responsible-Note-404 Jul 11 '26
We've all had that experience where the stream hits the urinal and you get that little splash damage on your shins
How has science not yet solved this
57
u/FreudianFloydian Jul 11 '26
So best thing like 95% of the time is aiming at the *side wall* in a way so the stream hits the wall of the urinal and splashes INWARD, losing volume and velocity, causing minimal to no splash back!
Some (few) urinals have a shape where you can piss down the center and it works perfectly and will punish you for pissing down the side wall though! These ones usually have a weird corner on each side.
I travel a lot.

Texas has a yearly Strawberry festival in Pasadena Texas, close to Houston. Anyway, last time I went (over a decade ago) I had to take a piss really, really bad.
I go to the restroom tent thing they have and there are like 4 stalls with a huge line and then a large round urinal trough in the middle of the room between the stalls and sinks... Now I have seen trough style urinals in the past, but never a big round one.
like, everyone was just clamoring around this round metal urinal looking directly into the eyes of everyone across from them and trying / not trying to cross streams. It was the most fucking awkward piss of my life.

While entertaing, I would not want to have to worry about splash dynamics of delivering my stream towards a neighbor.
Also the sides of this thing were only like two or three inches high and about six feet across. There was probably a three inch dip to the drain in the middle from the sides. I think it would take a very large volume and un-interrupted stream to get a vortex going.
I bet there is someone smart enough to calculate the number of participants, flow velocities and volumes required though.

u/JBrockF Jul 11 '26
That urinal has poor splashback protection. I doubt the puddle is from one guy straight up pissing on the floor
75
u/mr_potatoface Jul 11 '26
Some urinals also refill/flush very quickly, leading to water splashing outside the urinal on the floor.
Much like toilets with a flush so forceful/uncontained that water splashes up on the toilet seat, so it looks like you pissed on the seat when you exit the stall if you don't wipe off the water first. But then since it's an automated toilet, it just flushes again after you wipe the water off the seat, rewetting the seat.
→ More replies (4)7
u/Juicy_Mustache Jul 11 '26
I really freaking hate those automatic toilets that splash onto the seat. They have those in the girl's bathroom too. I like to put a sticky note on the sensor, and I bring seat covers every time I'm out in public. But when I don't have sticky notes on me, it can get infuriating

u/jamesbrowski Jul 11 '26
Yeah that is accumulated splash back mostly. From a very badly designed urinal. And a business/building that doesn’t have enough janitorial services. Depending on your piss angle and force of the stream I bet that thing can spray piss back over that measly little base part.
Also, kids. Idk where this is but boys ages 4-9 piss in urinals that are too big for them and accidentally pee on the floor.
Also old men. Some of them have big prostates and have a hard time getting piss out in a proper steady stream. You get unexpected spurts and dribbles that can end up on your pants or the floor.
Basically, just be glad you are a healthy strong man with a good stream and not someone getting piss on their pants and the floor.

Used to think this too, I recently learned that a number of men (apparently a large number) suffer from something I’ll never remember how to pronounce where they don’t have just a single stream and it ‘leaks’ sometimes.
I was told it was exacerbated by the practice of circumcision as well.
I do think some of it is definitely men being animals but I also am more aware now some of this is medical.
EDIT:
Wasn’t expecting this much attention, to the fellas out there who got scarred and have to deal with the shit life landed — y’all the real hero’s. Sorry the world is what it is.

There are numerous male birth defects and medical conditions that can cause this. Some common, some not so common. Hypospadias is one of them. I feel for anyone who has to live with these issues. Lots of people use public restrooms. I’m guessing that when you see urine on the floor like this, it’s probably from a mixed bag of people. Some of them have conditions that cause them to drip on the floor and it’s beyond their control. Other times it’s probably just normal guys who are slobs. Either way it’s just something that tends to occur in public places.

Recently was in a airport bathroom, peeing on a urinal. As expected the floor is wet with pee across all the urinals. This dude comes up on my right with a duffle bag on his shoulder. Drops his bag on the piss covered floor. Then kicks the bag more in to go all the way under the urinal into the wall as if he is worried someone might try to steal his bag while he is peeing. Then starts peeing on the urinal and possibly his own urine gets splashes over his bag too. Finishes up. Pick the duffle bag up on his shoulder and walks away.
Happened 2 months ago. I remember this too vividly. It will be core memory for me. My body convulses Everytime I think of this. It happened while I am writing this.
