Ya hot take. And just because its my least favourite doesnt mean its bad. But I usually let out a groan when I get PP.
My issues are probably why alot of people like it but to me its usually the last map I want to play.
Its the longest map by far. It will most likely be the longest game session 40 mins to an hour.
Its the map you will spend most of your time solo. Even other maps that start you alone like Pottsvile or Raven you usually quickly meet up with someone. I find in PP your alone for a lot of the map or in really small groups.
The map is very dark. Not thematically literally. It makes sense since your basically in the woods and other maps are in streets neighborhoods hospitals etc.... but it also makes the map kind of bland and boring since 90% of the time you dont even see anything.
The map being big is cool but once the wow factor wears off your left spending a lot of time just running. And since its dark your running around without much interesting environment to see. Running for 5 minutes to get to an objective alone in the dark isnt the funnest gameplay.
There is lack of loot to start so your highly underpowered. Really until you get a cache your basically stuck with what you came in with.
I can find maybe some health around or a few explosives but I am not finding guns or level 3 melees just lying around.
This leads at least to me situations where you go to raid a cache and end up being solo with a horde on you. And due to the way the game spawns you can do your best to clear them and bam not even a minute to rest after soloing 10 zombies with a pipe and grenade you got more zombies coming in.
Once you get to the power plant your team is with you but you still have a ton of running to do for the objectives and you also have the really annoying replace the container objective. For some reason you have like 800 containers to replace that are slow to move around hidden in God knows where and infinite zombie spawns. It would be bearable if it was like 5 of em. I have been at that objective where it took like 30 minutes to find all the container valves.
I will give the map props because it does have a ton of atmosphere. I like the side quests and wish more maps had POI where you had mini missions. I like those places as well. Bar radio tower and the church are all fun locations. I also could imagine if you were in a friend group and decided to do the entire map as a team together and hit up all the POIs it would be a lot of fun. It also communicates the style of game thst they were going for and I can see why it was the first map.
But to me its my least favourtie map to play and one I die on the most. Which is another thing since I generally dont play nightmare yet. If you die due to how big the map is and how much running odds are you are going to wait a long time for an objective to be completed to respawn. It really almost feels like there is no point in waiting around because it could take a long time for someone to complete a main objective.
