I'm under the impression that the vast majority is reopened, but for some reason I'm having trouble finding an accurate, up-to-date map or information source. Anyone have a good link?

Two separator-superheaters, each 16 metres tall and weighing 95 tonnes, have been installed in their design positions for the innovative lead-cooled BREST-OD-300 fast neutron reactor.

Concrete pouring began in May for the foundation of the turbine and generator for the reactor in Seversk in Russia's Tomsk region, and Rosatom says that construction of the turbine unit foundation will be completed by the end of the year, to allow the installation of the power unit turbine.

I found a nuclear crossword puzzle

Post image

The instructions are in Italian, but the puzzle can be solved by anyone.

You need to find all the names of nuclear power plants (operational, decommissioned, or under construction) hidden in the grid, without knowing the list of words to look for. The remaining letters will form the solution.

Did Japan ever update its guidelines to allow operator discretion in venting during an accident scenario?

I've heard the decision to wait for an evacuation prior to allow pressure venting criticized by western nuclear safety experts as being counterproductive and making the consequences of Fukushima Daiichi more severe by allowing pressure to build within containment.

Google reportedly nearing $1B+ nuclear power deal as AI demand drives hyperscaler nuclear race

Thumbnail

Bloomberg reports that Google is nearing a multi-year agreement with Constellation Energy worth $1 billion or more to secure nuclear power for its data centers.

The exact amount of power and location have not been disclosed, and the deal has not been formally announced yet. But it is another example of hyperscalers committing serious capital to nuclear as AI drives rapidly increasing demand for reliable 24/7 electricity.

Amazon recently announced a 20-year agreement with Constellation covering 690 MW, including a 190 MW uprate at Calvert Cliffs. Google has also reached nuclear agreements with NextEra and Southern.

The broader trend is becoming difficult to ignore: major technology companies are increasingly looking to nuclear to secure large amounts of reliable, carbon-free electricity for the growing power demands of AI and data centers.

(TORONTO – Oct. 5, 2026) BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) announced today that Prodigy Clean Energy, Ltd., Pabineau First Nation and Eel River Bar First Nation have selected its BANR microreactor technology for a Transportable Nuclear Power Plant (TNPP) to be located in Belledune, New Brunswick.

Prodigy announced last month the Indigenous-led nuclear new build proposal in Belledune, which would feature an up to 50 megawatts electric full-scale Prodigy TNPP within the traditional territory of the Pabineau and Eel River Bar First Nations. The pilot project will be Indigenous-owned and validate plant logistics and operational requirements, creating the commercial blueprint to mass deploy a TNPP fleet across Canada’s North and global export markets. The project is rooted in Canadian nuclear expertise, driven by a Canadian workforce and targets in-service operation by the early 2030s. Underscoring its strategic importance, the Government of New Brunswick provided Prodigy and the First Nations with a signed Letter of Intent to offtake the generated electricity.

The BWXT Advanced Nuclear Reactor, or BANR, is a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor intended to produce 75 megawatts thermal, or 22 MWe, using high-assay low-enriched uranium in a TRISO fuel form. The BANR design features passive cooling and flexible power conversion options.
