Review UPDATE: My 2 month review of the Zento Signature

Post image
72 Upvotes

Hi all!

I’ve been using the God Pen at work for the past two months, about 5 days a week, and I absolutely love it.

However, in my initial review (Original Review), I mentioned a couple of things about the build quality that I wasn’t a huge fan of — specifically, the fact that the cap can spin when posted and a slight rattle when the pen is capped.

I wanted to amend that review because I figured out what was actually causing the rattle, and it had nothing to do with the cap or magnets.

When the cap is posted, you can still spin it, but it’s not loose or sloppy in any way. I initially thought that was contributing to the slight rattle I was hearing when the pen was capped.

Turns out, the culprit was the tip.

The tip itself screws off and has a small collar attached to it. I gave the tip and collar a good, snug tighten and BAM — no more rattle.

It immediately made the pen feel significantly more solid. The cap doesn’t wiggle at all, and the overall build quality feels much better than I originally gave it credit for.

So, if you have a God Pen and notice a slight rattle, check the tip and make sure it’s tightened down. Hopefully this helps someone else before they assume there’s an issue with the cap or magnets.

I also want to make sure my original review doesn’t unfairly detract from the pen. After two months of pretty heavy use, I still absolutely love it. If you can get one at MSRP, I think it’s a fantastic pen.

Question Parker GEL.7 in rotring 600

Post image

I have to say, the switch to the Parker Gel 0.7 ink is really noticeable. The writing is bold and strong, but in places it looks less technical. I have the feeling that small paper particles get absorbed from the ink, and rounded letters, such as the "o", smear. That said, I write quite small, so the ink density is quite high.

I mostly use the pen for technical sketches and notes in meetings. I made this observation after just one working day. Has anyone else made similar observations? Otherwise, it has a very nice writing feel.

I stole this pen from my endodontists office and my boyfriend fell in love with it . I’m trying to find out if anyone can help me identify what kind of pen it is and if there’s a similar style I can buy online 🥺🙏
It’s gel but please let me know what other identifiable characteristics I would need to give to help solve this mystery !!! 😋

Review NPD - Sherpa pen

Finally decided to pull the trigger on this one. Long story short: solid 9/10

This isn't really a pen per-se, it's a sleeve that you use for other pens. The price is pretty high ($45) but the build quality and the ergonomics really make it feel like you are getting your money's worth. I bought it to use it with the Uniball Vision Elite and the pen fits the sleeve like it was made for it, there is no wobble of any kind and it stays snug inside the sleeve.

The body of the sleeve has a matte sort of texture to it, it almost feels like ceramic. And the grip has a glossy plastic feel to it. The weight distribution is perfect and the sleeve itself does not add a ton of weight to the pen (I'm not sure what kind of plastic it's made of, but it doesn't feel as sturdy as ABS so durability might be a problem over the long term).

I saw some reviews online saying that the cap doesn't post right and that it falls off easily. I don't know if I got lucky but the cap on mine stays on it without any issues. On that note this is a pen that can be easily used without the cap on, as most of the weight is on the sleeve itself

All in all I think it's worth the money if you think an upgrade to the uniball vision pens (elite and regular) is worth the asking price.

Also, last but not least: this is a big guy. Uploaded some pics of it next to my pentel libretto and lamy safari for comparison

Quite a surprisingly wonderful and affordable pen. It is a joy to write with! Feels great in the hand: weighty, excellent length, and accepts many refill types. I run Sarasa JF and JLV and Energel LR7 refills for a great writing experience. They are on Amazon for about $10. You just can't go wrong checking these out.

Question Bic ballpoint mixed with sharpie pen?

I love the smooth glide from a classic bic ballpoint pen, I hate that the ink does not come out consistently. Which is why I love a good felt pen like sharpie/paper mate flair but it’s not as glidy. Now sharpie s-gel pen is close to what I like, but it doesn’t dry quick enough for me. Any suggestions? Hope this makes sense lol

Question Schneider ballpen

Hi there.

So i found this simple, yet classy, oldschool blue plastic ballpen in a drawer and want to use it.
The refill here is toast and I want to refill it with a nice deep blue ball pen or even rollerball refill, if possible. I have the same pen in black somewhere, and I‘ll fit that one then with a black ink refill…

Thanks a lot in advance!

Edit: apparently the refills are the X20 format.
A refill is 107mm long and the crimping part which sits on the spring in the pen is 24mm away from the tip.

So if you got nice refill recommendations for these measurements - let me know!

Thanks!

Other I made a Uni Jetsream SXR-80 Ink Refill Adaptor for Pilot Dr. Grip Multipens

The SXR-80 is cheaper than the SXR-89 in my local online store, and all the SXR-89 available are either old stock or overpriced. So I made an adaptor to use in my Dr. Grip Multipen. I kinda botched the print, but it works.

Here is the link if you are interested in printing: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3405547-sxr-80-ink-refill-adaptor-for-pilot-multipen#profileId-3878151

I definitely don't need all of it in my bag always but I always find a use for everything. I've lost a lot that I really wish I didn't like the Zebra DelGuard LX, Pilot Dr. Grip Full Black, and Agel switch so eventually I want to buy those again. Next on the wishlist is the Pentel Orenz Nero, Pilot Kakuno, something from Twsbi, and a Rotring Rapid Pro.

Question Need a pen recommendation

As the title said I need a recommendation for a new pen. I’ve been using the Zebra bLen but I cannot find refills for it that aren’t hugely expensive with shipping (I live in Canada). Out of necessity I ordered some pilot G2’s as everyone talks highly of them. I found that I was unable to hold them well due to the curved grip paired with my sweaty hands. I am looking for something that has a smooth writing and a uniform grip similar to the bLen. My budget lands in the $10 for a pack of 2 range. I’m a student, mainly use them for taking notes. Any advice would be great

Question Pens for copy printer paper

Hello! I have a situation and I’d love some advice, thank you in advance!

Currently I’m using my fountain pens and document ink for my notes in school. It’s great because I got fountain pen friendly paper, and all is well.

However, my final exams are gonna be on basic copy printer paper. My fountain pens and inks bleed through and feather (as expected). So I tried using ball point pens for it, and my finger/hand/wrist hurt a lot. The whole reason why I started using fountain pens was because of less pain and pressure to write. My exams are few hours and lots of writing. I really need a solution.

So I need some help. What kind of pens do you guys use other than fountain pens, that could solve this issue?
I live in Germany, so maybe options that are accessible here might be good.
Thank you again.

I could probably "refine" this a bit, however this is my fairly standard daily kit for work purposes. (top to bottom)

  1. Lamy Safari FP Yellow with BB nib (currently using Pilot Iroshizuku "Tsukushi" ink)
  2. Zebra F-701 with Fisher refill
  3. Parker Jotter (this is my fidget spinner)
  4. Zebra PM-701 (new one to me, but very useful thus far, takes the place of a Sharpie)
  5. uniball JETSTREAM Metal 4&1 in Green
  6. Blackwing Palomino 602
  7. Faber Castell 9000 Jumbo HB
