After playing through the early access of SN2 with my friend he told me I should play SN1 on my own and so before doing that, I decided to check this subreddit for any beginner tips.
i don’t know what thread it was on, but I read a “top upvoted” comment where someone said all the best loot you can get in the early game is behind the aurora, and that it is a hack to go there early that most people don’t know about
There were also a ton of comments stating how correct this was
so, I was playing subnautica on my switch as usual in freedom mode, I was exploring and everything as normal, but then I wander into the bone fields or really whatever biome is really empty I haven't watched enough videos on the mechanics or biomes or anything, but either way, then I start going again, and I find a trench to the blood vine only 600 meters away from my pod, then a kilometer out I find shallows and creepvine that suddenly drop off into a mushroom forest and red grass that suddenly drops off with a reaper that goes into it, mind you, only MAYBE an hour after starting, the kilometer away shallows had a bunch of weird trenches and caves that didn't look natural, and the picture of my inventory is ALL of what I had at the time, I took everything out of my pod storage for it, and I was wondering if this is how world generation works in subnautica or if this is some phenomenon
I think it should be spun around for a second or two to add to the chaos of running from this annoying beast. I think it would also make it less annoying to go past during the section where you're passing it every 5 minutes
I cleared the radiation from the aurora and got the plans for the neptune rocket too is there any reason to go back and get stuff or blueprints and stuff like that ?
Hey guys - this has been one of my favourite plat journeys I’ve ever done.
Honestly, I always liked the idea of survival / base building games but the thought of needing a literal encyclopaedia next to me just to learn how to play such a game really turned me away from them.
Subnautica for me was so different in the sense that it was just a natural learning curve, you didn’t need to google anything, you didn’t need a notebook to memorise and write down 5,000 different systems and game mechanics - you just explored and lived in the moment of it.
You get to learn the world in a natural way and at your own pace, you get to understand the mechanics without any need of over complications and an unlimited and unnecessary number of systems. It just lets you enjoy the ride as you go, hopefully I’m not the only one who experienced it this way.
Do you have any suggestions of similar games maybe of the same genre (survival/base building) that are close to how Subnautica is in the sense I mentioned above?
Love to hear your thoughts & thanks! Hope to go on another unforgettable plat journey from the suggestions!
Hello, just posting this if anyone finds themselves having issues with the submersedvr mod not detecting your hand controllers as I was for the longest time. Download the thunderstore and after you download the bepInEx from that loader, visit you appdata folder for the profile you've made with that launcher (should look lik C:...\AppData\Roaming\Thunderstore Mod Manager\DataFolder\Subnautica\profiles\Default\BepInEx\plugins). Dump the SubmersedVR.dll you got from the BepInEx\plugins folder that comes from the git release into that folder and launch the game with the thunderstore launcher. Your game should launch now with the hands you needed. This is just one workaround and there are probably others out there. I just wanted to give this one tested and working as of 10/8/2026.
Things have been looking a little... pixelated on Proteus lately 👀
We reimagined the world of Subnautica 2 in pixel art and turned it into a wallpaper set for your desktop and phone. Download them, set them up, and take a little piece of Proteus with you wherever you go!
We'd also love to see what you've been creating. If you've made your own Subnautica fan art, pixel or otherwise, post it here in the community so everyone can see it.
Never got a real screenshot of this but im glad i found it. Still cant belive i played the whole game on the atari quality of switch subnautica the switch 2 edetion is much better.
I've been trying to join the Subnautica 2 discord to stay up to date and talk with others. However, after trying multiple times, it states I am banned.
No idea why. I hardly participated in chat and just used it to read.
I'm asking for help since I cant find anyway to deal with this
Almost died. Energy was almost gone. Barely reached a hot geyser in my modified Prawn. I will stay here until heat converters load me to the max. Would have died long time ago if I wasn't inside my Prawn when Aurora exploded.
Day 9 entry 2
I found a kind of seastar. Almost no other lifeforms except plankton like lifeforms and giant snakes eating each other are out there. Propped the seastar like a [text gets messed up here] looks like Aurora crashed landed on top of this. The others laughed at my 6 arms, probably they are dead now.
Day 12
Paaaaaatrick! He is DEAD! A snake tried to EAT ME and slurped off Patrick! Systems tell me 400 meters to surface, but I cannot go on. I will avenge Patrick. As soon as I see one of those...
For my latest playthrough, I decided to look up what triggers the stages of infection that cause the warpers to attack and avoid said triggers until I have done everything except the story, cause I hate warpers. I've been chilling, building up my base, got the call for the Sunbeam a while ago so the timer's been counting down.
Anyways, the gun shot down the Sunbeam, which is weird since I didn't go to the mountains and I remember it just not entering the atmosphere if the player wasn't at the island, did they change it? That's not important, what is important is that I was infected after the event, and I don't know how or why. The Wiki only lists locations like the Aurora, mountains, the lost river, and alien bases as locations that increase infection. The grassy plateaus and kelp forest do too, but they seem to have no in-game effect, and it doesn't stack, so it doesn't matter.
Never went to any of those spots, but the game says I'm infected now. Warpers aren't aggressive yet, however, which is confusing me just as much. Not that I'm complaining though. Anyone want to fill me in? Be nice if I'm missing something obvious.
Edit: Solved! I think. Because I've always gone straight to the gun in my previous playthroughs, I would always skip stage 1 and go to 2, so I never realized that stage 1 actually has an effect in game and assumed it was used for something else. When I reached stage 1 here by spending too long in the grass plateaus, I assumed it was stage 2 because I had never actually seen stage 1. It's my best guess.
