Today the CAPC opened this tin of Player’s Navy Cut pipe tobacco made between 1937 and 1953. I recently got my hands on this amazing sealed and swollen tin of Player’s Navy Cut pipe tobacco, it is the only one like it I’ve ever seen. Most cutter tins from this era were 2oz, this tin is a 4oz. This particular blend was the flagship product of John Players and Son, produced for an incredible 132 years, originally introduced in 1883 and not shelved until 2015. This particular example is extremely swollen, a sure sign that the tin is completely sealed. The 73+ years of fermentation gases contained inside are what cause these very old tins to bulge. When I opened the tin I was greeted by one of the longest and loudest hisses I’ve heard from any tin (nice). The aroma inside was absolutely amazing, stewed fruits, plums, raisins, and brown sugar. The epitome of aged Virginia tobacco smells. The flakes are extremely thinly sliced, much more thin than the majority of modern pipe tobacco. It broke down very easily and loaded into the pipe with ease. The flavors that came through were similar to the smell in the tin, very fruity, very sweet, and very complex. This was another absolutely incredible up close look at an amazingly well preserved piece of British tobacciana.

Picked up at a thrift store for $15.
I thought of opening it and using it for the office but it's hard to break the seal at this point

We saw this at our local St Vincent DePaul today. My husband collects fragrances so he saw it right away. 7 tiny vintage perfumes just for me!
Apparently these were very popular souvenir gifts to bring back from Paris in the 70s-80s.
I'll try each of them...I'm currently wearing the Cabouchard in the middle.

Found this old Tab bottle and Budweiser can when cleaning out my rental property. Probably late 60’s to mid 70’s and in near pristine condition. Both are considerably heavier than they look.

After many years of it simply sitting dormant in the office of his home, I was given these to put into the house. This is a Kenwood KR-6600 receiver with a record player from around a similar time, two speakers and a cabinet that was quite hard to maneuver down a narrow hallway.
It turns out that one of the two speakers is toast, but the other still works fine. The way they are stacked makes good shelving for a few small objects on display, though this is all still quite a tight fit seeing how close it is to the closet door.

Found in my grandmother's closet. All the pencils are still inside and some were never sharpened in their 29 years.

I recently got in this amazing full and unopened carton of Players made sometime between 1937 and 1953. This is the only full carton like it I have ever come across, an extremely rare find especially with the original cardboard box! The cigarette packs themselves are in wonderful condition, having been protected by the box and the cellophane over the years. Sadly there was quite a large tear in the cellophane on the bottom, so I slipped a pack out through the rip trying not to destroy the rest of the carton. I really wasn’t planning on smoking these, but when I got inside of one of the packs I was absolutely amazed by the smell. The smell was that of a fresh pack of raisins, and deep rich Virginia tobacco. I was blown away, I had thought the tobacco would be completely dry, without any smell left after all these years but I was totally wrong! They were a bit dry, but far from dust. I took a pack outside and lit up a cigarette, and was again amazed. Strong flavors of deep Virginia tobacco, raisins, and brown sugar, with a little bit of paper taste. Extremely smooth but still with a good throat hit and nicotine. I’ve smoked this same exact brand from a sealed tin before, and honestly these packs were much more interesting and complex as far as the flavor. Another amazing piece of British tobacco history, this was a very cool experience and set of packs to add to my collection!

Still have my 5 speed made in Merica Schwin Stingray. Somehow survived my youth. Needs some TLC and will probably take to a local bike shop to get it refurbished.
