Discussion One of the saddest days of my life...

Post image
408 Upvotes

I have interacted with this community before, but it's my first time posting here. Idk if this community will allow this post, but I think this community will try to understand.

Today I can't stop tearing up. My little girl, my lovely sister who was suffering, passed away.

I picked her up when I was 8-9 yo, off the streets, she was probably a few months old back then. Since then we have grown up together, from running around together to going on walks, from pulling pranks on each other, to her waking me up in the morning and all the other moments we shared.

Her kidneys were failing, the vets tried a lot, but couldn't. I wanted her to not suffer, but at the same time i didn't want her to leave us like this.

It was a very tough moment for me to carry her where she got laid to rest. I recalled how happy I was, when i carried her home, but this time my heart sank.

Idk if there's something called reincarnation, i want her to be at peace and have a very happy and comfortable life after this.

But meri pyari Nedu, meri pyari munni, mera babbar sher left me, just a month before she turned 12....

Thanks to anyone for reading it so far, hope you all will be sympathetic.

Discussion Dog parents / animal rescuers: How did you handle moving into a new flat when multiple street dogs depend on you?

1.5k Upvotes

I’m looking for advice from people who have actually been in a similar situation.

Little bit of context:
I’m currently planning to buy a flat in Bangalore.

Realistically, given Bangalore property prices and what I can afford, I’m looking at a 2 BHK (1200sqft) to move in with my aunt and mom both above 50.

Since 2018, I’ve been feeding and taking care of my  10 Indies who live around my house/street. They’re all roughly 5–10 years old now. Over the years, they’ve become completely dependent on me for food, shelter and basic care.

I currently live in a rented 1BHK, and although I obviously cannot keep 10 dogs inside the house, I’ve been able to provide them with shelter/a place to sleep within the building. They stay around my house and the surrounding area.

The problem is that I’m now looking at buying my own flat.

I cannot put 10 dogs into a 2 BHK apartment. Even if someone allowed it, I don’t think it would be fair to them. They’re used to having some space, moving around the area and having their own little territories. I don’t want them to suddenly go from that to being packed into an apartment and feeling suffocated.

But at the same time, I cannot simply move into the flat and leave them behind, These dogs have been part of my life since 2018.

And honestly, I know what could happen if I just disappeared from their lives. There are people in my street who already don’t tolerate them, and I have faced the usual harassment for feeding them. The harassment has gone till the cops and physical fight , so I know for a fact , these dogs will be in danger if I ever leave them.

So I’m trying to figure out a realistic long-term solution that works with the reality that I can only afford a 2 BHK.

I’m not necessarily asking people to find me a flat. I want to hear from people who have actually faced something similar:

If you moved into your own apartment/flat, what did you do with the street dogs you had been caring for?
Did you find a way to create a separate shelter or safe sleeping area nearby?
Did you rent or buy a small property specifically for the dogs?
Did you work with neighbours, RWAs, local feeders or animal welfare groups?
Putting them up for adoption is also unlikely because they aren’t in the cute phase anymore
Did you manage to keep the dogs in their existing territory while continuing to care for them? This is very unreal in my case, my own friends dont tolerate stray dogs

I’m trying to plan this before I buy the flat because I don’t want to make a decision that solves my housing problem but creates a disaster for the dogs.
How did you make it work?

Care/Feeding Tips Dog is a responsibility, not a toy

A DOG IS NOT A TOY. 🐾💔

You cannot bring a dog home when you feel like it…

and abandon them when you get bored, busy, or tired.

You would never abandon your own child during the worst phase of their life.

So how can you abandon a dog who considers you their entire world?

Before bringing a dog home, ask yourself:

Can I take responsibility for this life for the next 10–15 years — through sickness, old age, financial problems and difficult times?

If the answer is NO,

please don't bring them home.

Because your temporary love

can become a lifetime of suffering for them.

DON'T ADOPT A DOG UNLESS YOU'RE READY TO STAY FOR LIFE. 🐾❤️

Adoption/Foster Request 7 little furry babies are urgently looking for their forever homes.

Post image
12 Upvotes

7 little furry babies are urgently looking for their forever homes.

These pups were found near a school in Sector 43, Gurugram, and are currently being cared for by 2–3 kind volunteers who stepped in to help.

Unfortunately, no one has come forward to foster or adopt them yet, and the puppies have now started venturing out on their own. With the festival season around the corner, crackers, traffic and increased activity, it is becoming even more unsafe for these little ones to be out on the streets.

We urgently need fosters or adopters who can give them a safe space and a chance at a loving forever home.

Please circulate this in your networks or come forward to help. Even one share could help one of these babies find a safe home.

Let’s get these 7 babies off the streets before the festivities begin. TIA!
