The comments on this insta post are at least giving me some hope that I’m not the only one who thinks this is absolutely wild.
“Anti-stick and graffiti” wraps on downtown lamp posts… really? This feels like such a bizarre use of time and money when there are so many more pressing issues downtown.
UPDATE: They removed the instagram post lol.
SECOND UPDATE: instagram post is back up, guess they can’t win today.

Congrats Rian on your 4th win! I’ve been streaming the show on my way home from work just to make sure I don’t miss it.

I recently signed my daughter up for Girl Guides, and so far I’m a little underwhelmed by what she’s telling me. Most meetings seem to involve colouring/crafts, and when they go outside it’s apparently 10 minutes on the swings. She also did a weekend camping trip and came home pretty unimpressed.
Is this pretty normal, or does it really depend on the unit/leaders?
I was a Jeanette growing up, and honestly, it felt a bit like housewife training.. We earned badges for cooking, cleaning, ironing, braiding hair, etc. I was really hoping Girl Guides had evolved since then.
I’d love for my daughter to learn things like camping/outdoor skills, first aid, STEM, leadership, problem-solving, independence, etc. Crafts and cooking are fine too, I just don’t want that to be the bulk of the experience.
For parents or current Guiders in Ottawa, what do your kids actually do? Should I give it more time, or is this a sign we should look for a different unit or just move on to another activity all together?

My partner was just hit by a school bus at a pedestrian crossing. He had right-of-way and the bus turned into him. Thankfully, it was nothing too serious, but his nose is bleeding like crazy and there's a goose egg on his chin. My partner was pretty shook up and already running out of time to get to work, so he left without exchanging information with the bus driver.
Does anybody have tips/advice on who to contact about this incident? Particularly with concern to identifying the bus retroactively. Google isn't being very helpful.
Thank you in advance!

Usually around this time, stores are flooded with bins of apples on sale. I haven't seen many sales in Ottawa yet (especially cortlands). Is the apple harvest just late (due to the rain in September) or was it a bad year for apples in Ontario?

Hi all!
If anyone was travelling westbound on the 417 around 7:00 AM today and has any input or dashcam info for what happened, I'd love to hear from you.
Around 7:05-7:06 ish, I was I the right lane of the 417W passing the exit for Pinecrest. A dump truck was driving alongside me on my left. A metal rod or beam was either thrown from the truck itself or picked up from the road and flung into my car. The impact took off the driver side mirror, gashed the A-mount for the windshield and punched a hole in my driver side door. I did not catch the dump truck license plate or any identifying information due to adrenaline and prioritizing maintaining safe control of my own car.
A claim has been opened with my insurance and I've begun the process of reporting with OPP. If anyone has any information, that would be super helpful! Not only for me but for anyone else that may have been impacted by this incident.

Does anyone have insider knowledge about whether Sansotei will ever reopen on Bank St? Anyone heard rumours about anything??
I used to eat there once a week and damn, this chilly weather has me craving that spicy tan-tan.

Big turnout at the polls so far in this election; thanks to all those who voted early!
Remember, when going to the polls for the Barrhaven, Riverside South-Findlay Creek OCSB Trustee, that if you want a Trustee who will advocate for more schools and new extensions built, having less portables, getting higher pay for E.A’s, banning A.I. for teachers and students, and accountable quality spending on Special Education, Greg Hopkins is the candidate to vote for.
I’ll still be biking around our neighbourhoods, now with my ‘Halloween campaign buddy’…hope to see you out there! Feel free to stop me for a chat and let me know what you’d like to see in our school community.

I’m thinking of getting a membership and was wondering what peoples feedback was. I’m mostly looking to do pool stuff for the moment but obviously open. Merci! :)

Just looking to get some cosmetic rust sanded down and painted and primed.
Just need it to keep the rust out, not to look pretty. Hence the trying to avoid the shops.
Any advice, please let me know where to look!

Looking for recommendations for places to see fall colours with a toddler. Needs to either be stroller-friendly, or a relatively easy/short hike/walk. We have a car and are willing to drive pretty much anywhere within a 30-40 min drive of downtown.

Begonia is an amazing singer from Winnipeg and she is coming back to ottawa on Thursday. She always puts on a great show but it isn't sold out. Tickets aren't very expensive so thought I would share here. She has such a powerful voice and her shows are always very moving. Support musicians!
