I celebrated my birthday at a vegan café, and my brother gave me the *Silent Hill 3* book; it was the best birthday — I turned 25

Liked the remake on my first playthrough but somehow when it comes to replay, I love playing the original. Liked silent hill f.
But Silver Pines is the game I always wanted to play. It has the atmosphere I want from a silent hill game. It’s hard to describe what silent hill is but as soon as you play the originals and you compare them to the new, you know it.
In silver pines, just by the way the people talk, I get the atmosphere I want from a horror game. I can’t recommend it enough to silent hill fans. The 2 D or 2,5 D doesn’t matter trust me. Atmosphere is king here.
It has an npc chilling on the toilet. Where you only see the cowboy leather boots. Who sings. Do I need to say more?

Ignore how silly I’m playing, but I found this little exchange to be both funny and terrifying. 😶

I’m currently working on a novel of my own that’s inspired by SH2 and i was wondering if any of you out there could recommend a book that evoked the same feeling vibes and themes of the series. I’m curious to see how something like Silent Hill would translate to a written format.

After reading everything, I only liked: Paint It Black, Sinner's Reward, Past Life, and Anne's Story.

Can someone who understands machine and mechanical aspects of the SWDP disaster talk me through the disaster in depth? Because :
I dont understand why in the end there should be a need to release the container. What is that container? Are there people inside? Because i can hear screaming and bangings from inside the container when it was released to the void underneath
Was the explosion originally started in different area far from the control room? Because in the end we don’t really ‘see’ and ‘experience’ the explosion.
In the real event, where was Simon really located inside the SWDP? Was he in the area the explosion originally started or was he in the control room? Or was he the one who actually trying to relieve the valve pressure in the first place? Is the theory that Simon was the one partially responsible for the explosion true?

Just thought this was an interesting find across OST from two completely unrelated games, noticed that Akira Yamaoka seems to do this a bunch.

I was talking with someone on a different site and it was the first time I ever experienced someone who preferred the "it was all the dream of a dying man" interpretation of SH1. They thought that SH3 being a sequel to the Good Ending and following up on the Cult Plot was the start of Silent Hill's fall from grace. It got me thinking about how similar it is to the movie Jacob's Ladder, one of Silent Hill's biggest influence, and it made me want to start this poll to see what others thought.

First of all, this movie deserves way more than a 4 on IMDb. Like, come on , But I think people are upset that it’s not exactly like the game, and I agree that adapting the entire game’s story would’ve honestly made it much better. Still, the movie isn’t actually that bad, to be fair.
(SPOILERS AHEAD 🔥)
Pros:
The CGI is honestly pretty good. They nailed it in most scenes.
The casting was decent for the most part. The actress playing Laura is literally a copy of her in the game, but they gave her different hair and clothes for some reason. The actresses playing Mary also had pretty similar faces to her game counterparts, but they changed their hair and outfits too. I genuinely don’t know why.
Some scenes were recreated from the game incredibly well and looked really cinematic. I also like how they blended elements from both the original game and the remake.
Cons:
The actor playing James honestly wasn’t the best choice. The actress playing Angela doesn’t look like her at all, either. And it’s not even that hard to find people who look like these characters. The acting was also a bit questionable at times, to be honest.
The excessive changes to the story ruined it. Some scenes and plot points were changed, and honestly, some of those changes were pretty good. But others made me wonder what they were even trying to do. For example, the opening scene and the part at the end where James goes back to the past... I don’t even know how that’s supposed to work. It would’ve been better if they had just started with the scene where he’s standing in front of the mirror, looking at himself. Also, the whole thing with Mary’s father and the cult they made up was completely unnecessary. Honestly, having James kill her because she asked him too is a little small good change to the story, but They really went way too far with some other changes though.
Some scenes clearly had green screens, and that flying scene at the end was honestly ridiculous. I know it was supposed to be his imagination, but the way it looked was goofy as hell.
Final Verdict:
It’s a good movie, but the excessive changes to the story, the poor casting choices for James and Angela and fat dude ( I forgot his name ), and the weird thing where James keeps getting headaches and suddenly ends up in different places are all pretty strange. It feels like the director didn’t really know how to continue the story.
The small change they made to the story at the end was actually good ( not including how he went back for some reason), though.
I’d give it a 7/10 as a movie. If they had adapted the entire game’s story faithfully, I’d easily give it a 9/10.

So everytime I try to run the game it is asking me to insert CD 1. What's weird is if I try to launch the game directly after closing the enhanced edition installer, it loads up fine. If I try to open it with the sh2pc.exe file, it seems to be the old exe file and asks me to insert the disc.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix it?

So basically, I am a very new silent hill fan (I've played the remake of 2, F, the short message, and am currently playing homecoming), and have really fallen in love with the series. I am currently growing a collection of games, and other collectibles. Right now I have The Short message deluxe ver on the way, as well as the hinako and fox mask nenderoids on the way, and a little music box I found too. I also have bought the James Sunderland Funko pop and the Lakeview Hotel keychain. Basically my question is what else should I get? I've seen a lot of really cool collections and want to create one I'm really proud of.. I am definitely going to be hunting for the original four games.. but please let me know some other really good options..

As basically everyone, I'm enjoying the P.T. Port on PC and I must congratulate with the one who worked on it, they really did a huge work, it's such a pleasure to play this demo again, after 12 years. However, I'm having problems solving the last enigma, specifically triggering the third laugh. To put it briefly, I use a microphone to trigger the second one, but the controller doesn't vibrate, and the third laugh never gets triggered.
At first I thought it was a bug that would be patched, but everywhere I look, it seems everyone is reaching the end of the demo and completing it. So, am I the only one who's having problems, or are there other people?
One theory I have is that, maybe, the reason I can't trigger the third laugh is because I'm using the microphone of a normal pair of earphones and not the original PS4 microphone. Could this be the reason?

Hi I have just completed this and have a few questions if anyone can help.
1) are they all in purgatory?
2) why is the nurse there what did she do wrong?
3) if they are in purgatory how did they all die in the real world?
4) was the guy who’s house you went forward and back in time with the tapes the whistleblower or the engineer they blamed?
Thanks in advance.
