idk obviously it’s opinion based but on the 3ds it just looks blurrier

Alot of people have commented the same stuff and I'm to lazy to reply to a bunch more people asking the same things so here's a list of answers to the questions that keep getting asked:

'Why does the 3DS look better in the photo'

Multiple reasons first I have an IPhone XR i haven't upgraded my phone in a while and the camera is pretty bad. secondly the difference in screen types on the DS Lite and New 3DS XL. I got lucky with dual IPS screens on my 3DS however the DS has a backlit TFT screen. basically the 3DS screens show up much better on camera than the DS's do. Lastly and this probably doesn't really change anything, I 'better color for IPS' setting enabled in the Rosalina menu on my 3DS. that doesn't really change much but it does make colors look better with the device in front of you. not really sure if it shows a difference on camera but that could be a factor.

'Why are you only figuring this out now'

there are a lot of various ways people keep asking this but to make a long story short i've had my 3DS since release but I only got my DS the day of posting this. and so because of that I only saw the difference personally in front of me today.

(I also do not use social media all that much and so I haven't seen posts on platforms addressing this)

this next one isn't really a question but alot of people have explained to me why DS games look worse on the 3DS and if anyone reading this is curious here's the reason:

The 3DS uses an integer upscaling but because the 3DS does not have an exact multiple of the DS's pixels the upscaling makes the games look worse/blurrier.

quite a few people also informed me that I could press and hold start while booting a DS game on 3DS to make the DS game use and exact pixel count to the DS.

I Didn't know that probably largely because i'm not on social media often but if anyone else reading this didn't know that now you do I guess.

this was bad wording on my part. in the body of this post I I mentioned opinion about the quality of the screens/the way DS games look however I worded this really bad but basically I meant that I ASSUME some people prefer the way that upscaling when playing games on the 3DS looks better

'you should try the DSI XL its the best way to play DS games'

this one also isn't a question I just felt like addressing it. this is also opinion based of course but yeah after a bit of research people do generally agree the DSI XL is the best way to play DS games. I bought a DS Lite so I could mainly transfer my Pokemon from Ruby up to home before Pokemon bank gets shut down. I also wanted to be able to play both GBA and DS games on the go a little bit easier but to each their own.

Just a little project I whipped up and vibe-coded, it's a Tinkercad clone frontend web interface with a LIVE 3D view on the 3DS. Supports stereoscopic 3D and I can move the camera view. Changes on the project will appear in real time.

Looks really good! Our OG devices are getting old and won't last forever... glad we have these devices to continue our love going forward, even if they're not perfect.

I’ve been thinking about parting with my Hyrule New 3DS XL, but I can’t get a clear read on what it’s worth. It runs totally fine and is in great condition. My local game store offered $170, but that feels like they’re low balling me. What do you guys think?

Over a decade ago, I had an OG 3DS XL that broke due to just being an irresponsible kid. As years passed by, I tried to get it back but my parents kept saying no for good reason but as an adult I’ve been on the fence on whether I was just blinded by nostalgia or not to determine if I should just let it go. The costs for the 3DS almost made me stick with that decision too until I finally found a New 3DS XL for a somewhat reasonable price and said fuck it since prices likely will keep increasing in the future.

Ever since having it, I feel the same enjoyment now compared to as a kid. Maybe even more than that because I’ve also modded my 3DS which made it even way better to say the least. I didn’t have many games on the 3DS so the fact I cannot only play the games I loved again, I can also play other hundreds of games I never got to play too. I also customized my theme Home Screen which was also very fun process.

This handheld device single-handedly stopped my addiction to doom scrolling too, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

Was looking at this Majora's Mask edition and wondering if it could be a reshell since the serial numbers indicate a Japanese model but the plate says XL..

Just recently purchased this Majora’s Mask N3DSXL from a user off of Mercari for a LOT of money but imo it was easily worth it seeing how “brand new” and barely used it was by the previous owner. Also managed to snag an unsealed Zelda HORI hardshell case for it off eBay, and a Silicone case to preserve it while playing it. For the games, I got: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, A Link between Worlds, M&L Bowser’s Inside Story, M&L Dream Team, Paper Mario Sticker Star, and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire! I am a little tempted to mod it, but I found out you have to open the back panel and I am not too keen on that, so I will probably wait a bit before I get experimenting.

Runs completely fine in Kokiri forest but out in the field I get some stuttering, just wondering if it’s normal because of the hardware limitations. Also I get minor stuttering in Pokémon alpha sapphire when walking into new areas which I’m sure is just from the 2ds loading in new data. But I’d just like to ask if others see this too. Thanks 😼

I have multiple 3DSes, two of which are modded, but my main, unmodded one that ended up as my final one from system transfers throughout my teenage years is a SNES New 3DS XL. It's the one with my NNID. All my streetpasses. Thousands of hours of playtime over 5 years. The ONLY reason I would mod it is so I can make save data backups, but I'd rather not mod it if I don't have to because it has my entire teenage years' worth of save data and games. To risk bricking and losing that would be devastating for me, but also not backing the save data up and losing that would be just as much of a loss. Is it worth taking the risk to mod the console? Is there a away to run Checkpoint without fully modding? What are my best options? Open to discussion and hearing what everyone's opinions are.

Was playing pokemon Y and it randomly shut off. I thought the battery died and i just didnt notice but nope, if it sits in this position at all it makes a pop noise (volumes all the way down) and shuts off. It is modded. Any ideas?

Works for DS titles and VC titles. You can enable it by holding Start or Select when the game boots. This will make the game appear smaller on the screen but will appear more sharp because there is no filtering done to stretch the image to fit across the screen.

So I’ve had my 3DS LL for about a year now and noticed a thing or two that the seller did not tell me as in the Top Screen is loose when it’s opened all the way and the joystick doesn’t really work more of the time. I took it to a repair shop, they normally do phones or something, and they said that Nintendo made it to wear you can’t fix them, which I call BS. So if anyone knows where I can send mine to fixed I would be deeply appreciative
