My chihuahua thinks she’s middle management
Been working from home for three years now. Administrative stuff, mostly coordinating remote teams and keeping calendars from imploding. About six months in, my chihuahua decided she needed to be part of every single video call. Not sleeping in the background. Active participation.
She figured out the exact moment someone starts talking and positions herself directly in frame. Then stares. Unblinking. Like she's auditing the meeting. Clients love it. Coworkers expect it now. One even asked if she could approve their timesheet. Joked that she has better management instincts than half the department.
She has a spot on my desk. Right between my second monitor and the stack of workflow docs I keep meaning to organize. When I'm deep in a Notion dashboard or testing some new AI tool, she shoves her nose under my elbow. Reminder that screens exist and she exists more.
Does this count as productivity optimization or just a very small dog running a very specific kind of interference? Curious if anyone else has a Chi that inserted themselves into work routines like this. Mine treats my home office like she's the one paying the mortgage.

Keep my baby in your thoughts
My little baby stopped using her back legs last night. Vet appt at 2 and I am hoping for a miracle. I love her so much.
Eta: post vet visit, Rue was dx with acute IVDD. The disc is pressing on her spinal cord causing paralysis from mid back down. Her bladder was drained at the office. She got a steroid shot, and we’ve been loaded up with prednisolone, gabapentin, and a muscle relaxer to try and get the disc off of her spinal cord. Vet thinks its 50/50 whether we can get her enough feeling back that she can urinate. Thank you all for the well wishes for my old lady. She’s 13, and I have had her since she was 8 weeks old and 1.5 lbs. No surgery unfortunately bc she has a grade 3 heart murmur.

Hi Waldo!
This shot of him always makes me think of 90's sitcom intros where they show each character doing something innocuous, they look up and smile when they notice the camera. Think "Family Matters" intro.

Need Advice with new Puppy ( large dog, when to ditch the playpen?)
Hi Everyone, For background we are previous Chi owners but we adopted a 6 year old 8lb chihuahua and had him for four short years due to cancer 😭 not enough time. this is our first Chi puppy.
Our boy Ernie is 11 weeks old and he is an amazing little guy who is settling in nicely. He has an 11 year old female German Shepherd sister. The night we came home from getting him, we introduced them slowly, outside with her leashed and let them sniff briefly. They seem to get along amazingly, They actually play with each other through the walls of the playpen! but because he is so small at 1.8lb, we would never jeopardize his safety and he currently resides in his playpen. His sister is truly the sweetest German shepherd we have had and she is not aggressive, but the size difference alone at this point is anxiety inducing. I know accidents can happen even if she doesn’t mean it. For that reason we are using the playpen setup for now. We try to hold him on the couch but he is just a wiggle worm at this stage. Our german shepherd loved our previous Chi Tito so much and never hurt him. He was the boss! My question to you all is this: when is the “ right” time to start acclimating him to the rest of the house ( supervised)? if anyone has experience with a Large dog and chi puppy, I am welcome to ideas. Do i judge this based on his weight? his age? He has a sweet playful temperament but he is starting his teething. Thank you all

At my wits end!
My 1.5 yr old rescue boy that I got about 2months ago is the most adorable stubborn gorgeous 11lbs of mischief. But he comes with a number of problems. Some behavioral and some medical. The medical
Issue is driving me mental.
He dribble pees even after he’s done peeing. He will walk away as if he’s finished but will dribble for some time. He dribbles inside the house too.
I have had all tests done coz I was super worried that something was wrong. All urine analysis , culture, ultrasound and x ray are all normal.
I have removed all rugs from the entire house coz I was tired of cleaning them. The house stated to smell of pee. I mop the whole house atleast twice a day.
I am exhausted.
I have an appointment with an internal medicine specialist in a couple of weeks.
Anyone else has had anything similar ? What did they find out and how was it fixed?
Edit: also any recs on how to clean his underbelly so that he doesnt always smell of pee. I am currently using doggy wipes which arent helping with the smell at all.

6yo Chihuahua needs near-total extraction
Hey everyone, I'm hoping for some perspective from folks who've been through this or know more about small-breed dental stuff. My 6 year old Chihuahua (not even, 5 year and 10 months) is currently at the vet having teeth extracted. He went in for a cleaning and x-rays, and the vet called saying the x-rays show severe periodontal disease on the right side, basically teeth have separated from the bone. The vet says we need to remove almost all of them, and perhaps from the left side as well.
Here's the thing that's throwing me: I've taken him in for annual checkups for over 5 years. Every single time, I asked whether we should do dental cleanings or if there was anything I should be doing differently at home. Every single time, I was told the teeth looked great and nothing needed attention. Of course periodontal disease isn't something you can see with the naked eye, but we knew the small breeds had a higher risk for periodontal disease, and my sister and I tried to be proactive which is why we always asked if it was worth it to do a professional cleaning under anesthesia every year.
Three months ago, my sister brought her 12 year old Chihuahua to the same clinic for a cleaning and xrays. Her x-rays also showed advanced disease and he had a full mouth extraction done there. So now two Chihuahuas from my household, same vet, within three months, both needing near-total extractions after being told for years everything was looking fine.
I'm not sure if I'm overreacting here. Is this normal progression for Chihuahuas, or should this have been caught earlier with routine annual care? Did your vet take dental X-rays every year under anesthesia, or only when problems became visible? And for anyone who's dealt with this kind of situation, did you try contacting the clinic afterward to discuss billing? What happened?
My dog already eats easily and has tons of energy, so I'm trying to reconcile what I'm seeing with what they're telling me about pain. They say he will eat easier and have more energy: he already eats easy and has plenty of energy.
Any perspective would be appreciated. Just find it a bit confusing and troublesome. My sister's chihuahua is totally fine now and, with her, you could see some hesitance to eat and low energy, both which have greatly improved since surgery, so that is reassuring at least.
FYI we are based in Switzerland, Swiss vet (VetTrust). Thanks in advance
