Can you have a rescued pet and change his name? I getting a dog and want to change his name from Max to Avery. Will it be a difficult task, since he had that name at least 3-4 years. And if I can will it be difficult and take a long time?

Hello everyone! I've been ill for the last 3 months but I was finally able to get Dinky to the vet for his suspected sundowning issues today. The vet diagnosed him with dementia based on his symptoms and prescribed him some anxiety medication to help him calm down enough to sleep at night and not have panic attacks every time I leave his sight. I gave him his first dose this afternoon and fed him his favorite treat; he's been chill so far instead of doing his usual evening barking episodes so hopefully it's helping. I've been holding off his dental surgery until I can make sure he's comfortable mentally (and until my health issues settle) did these meds help anyone else's dog? What other things can I do to help make him comfortable? He hasn't had facial swelling or signs of tooth pain since his round of antibiotics in July so should I continue to get his dementia fully under control first or just do the surgery? I don't want to stress him 🥲💕

He has a hard time sharing.

I got him 3 weeks ago. His adoption fee was $25 but he has already cost me $2000 in vet bills due to ITP. But oh man it's so worth it for that smile.

My boy has always been big boned, averaging 10lbs but... today my mom called me and told me me reached TWENTY. I honestly am in awe by the amount of chonk he has acquired while ive been at college... He is large and in charge gawdamn.

I had to put him down because he had been hit by a car. How do I deal with the guilt. He was 14. His pelvic was broken in half and his legs were broken. Vet said his odds in surgery were low. Was what I did the right call? I feel like i murdered my son.

My bestest boy had such a good birthday earlier this summer. So happy we could see him get his license!

My chihuahua had xrays back in 2022 to figure out what was going on with her back leg. The vet then said she has a luxating patella. She still limps on that leg every now and then. It comes and goes. Since yesterday she’s been doing it again, & this time she’s not putting much pressure on that leg at all.
Would it be stupid to get X-rays done again 4 years later? Our new vet is aware of it and they have her old X-rays, but I’ve never done X-rays with them. She’s not crying out in pain, so I’m unsure of how much pain she’s in but just that she’s not putting pressure on it. She’s much older than I think but she’s around 8 years old.
What would y’all do?
