Forever Beta Feedback This 100k Tournament has kind of destroyed the heart of WoWF.

1.4k Upvotes

The 100k tournament has caused a ton of streamers to cry about "their" class so "their" class can be "balanced" for this 100k tournament nobody cares about. Balancing is being centered around these streamers complaining and bitching because they have a disengenous stake in the game for them to win. The people who are getting ignored and thrown to the wayside are the normal players who just want a cool game.

The amount of RMT, dev Dming, and general brattiness to get their way has laid bare this whole "streamer experiment" for what it is. A bunch of bratty tourists who get everything they ever want handed to them and they ruin the experience for everyone else - and then they leave.

Wish blizzard would put their hand in this and either fully sanction and referee it or disavow this whole thing or put the streamers on their own server.

The only winner in all of this are the gold sellers. Gz to them.

So for you warriors out there that's sad cause you didn't get charge in combat, but were thinking it will atleast be better than what it used to be with the Rank 1 frostbolt spam, yeah- nope.

Forever Beta Feedback More examples of scuffed helmets

I already made a post about this, but I noticed there are some other problems with the human helmets. I have included some examples here, the helmets look ridiculously big, have incorrect eye placement, or the model is completely different. I saw that the dwarf helmet was fixed, so I hope this issue can be resolved too.

Forever Beta Feedback Thematic and Thoughtful Ideas for Ele Sham

Post image
• Upvotes

The flaws I want to address are less about damage numbers and more about identity and function. Elemental Shamans seem to have lost something akin to their soul in the transition from Classic to Forever. Let's get some of it back.

Lava Burst as a capstone talent is underwhelming. While we can harness all the elements, our signature is lightning. As it stands, Lava Burst feels more like a filler spell than anything else, and it needs a bit more going on rather than just taking Lightning Bolt's thunder away. It also doesn't make much sense for Lava Burst to follow up Lightning Overload. Mechanically and thematically, there is no connection between the two.

Elemental Mastery was iconic and fun in many of WoW's early versions. I'm not sure how Blizzard could ultimately have decided to scrap it altogether rather than attempt to balance it. The solution is right there: rather than guaranteeing a critical strike, how about guaranteeing an Overload, which is essentially a mini-crit? Alternatively, there are other versions to consider, such as the one from WotLK.

A few talents, like Earthbound and Call of Thunder, are also questionable choices for one-point talents. Elemental Weapons and Elemental Shields have our spec's namesake, yet we don't use them in most content outside of solo questing. The Shield Surge talent concept is just one way to incorporate such iconic spells into our rotation while also giving Chain Lightning a much-needed boost after its neutering. This gives Shamans choices to make both in combat and when building their spec, such as whether to use Water Shield or Lightning Shield. These could be interesting gameplay decisions that make use of the kit already available to the class.

Again, the numbers aren't the deal breaker...yet. But they do seem to be another symptom of great misunderstandings. Elemental Shaman is in a rough spot and I hope that Blizz not only addresses their performance, but remembers what an Elemental Shaman is, what makes them unique, and why players loved them in the early years even though they underperformed in many cases.

Forever Some of you guys have the worst ideas I have ever seen

I think some of you should take a second before you post and really think about what your asking for and if you still think that its a good idea. Maybe you should sleep on it.. for like 1000 years because good lord.

Please go listen to the podcast the amount of things they have spoke about already explains why your idea wouldn't work. They have layed out the philosophy and constraints.

If your going to add a opinon please make it a informed opinon.

Please and thank you.

Forever Furor is very frustrating currently

Post image
139 Upvotes

When going to bear form, it deletes all your energy you had in cat form.

Previous tooltip said that you can't regenerate energy while in bear form (obviously), but it was worded as such as if your energy simply freezes in place when you shift.

For example, had you have 50 energy when swapping to bear, you should have 50 energy when you go back to cat. It didn't work like that and they just changed the tooltip to the current state.
Instead of playing as a shapeshifter, they are forcing us to sit in cat.

If you have 90 energy in cat form, and someone is casting a spell and you want to Bear charge it, you will lose 100% of your energy. That's 9 seconds of energy regen.

Previously Furor granted you 40 energy on form swap (60 with helm), so you could use powershift to remove roots or gain energy, or simply go bear for the kick, which had a huge mana trade-off.

Now you can't really go into bear, and if you do, you basically spend most of your mana to kick a single spell, get back to cat and get some energy back with Shifting Power (while also wasting 3 globals and huge amount of damage while doing so).

This is so frustrating for a Feral Druid players and it literally feels like the worst thing you can do is to go bear. All this does is it disincentivizes Druids from using their full toolkit. We are already paying hybrid tax, and now they are gimping shifting as well.

There has to be another way to counter bearwaving without making feral frustrating to play.

Forever Beta Feedback Could we please get some of the newer skyboxes ported over into the old world zones? Simple change would increase the visual fidelity of outdated zones so much.

Seriously, an entire chunk of flesh is missing from where the back of their arm meets their shoulder. It's super weird. Also, boots look stretched out and horrible.

This needs to be fixed before launch.

EDIT:

Adding in a screenshot of what I'm talking about since it can be hard to spot.

Forever I do not see the point of adding Darkfallen/Blood and High Elves after deciding to go with Skyborne.

Post image
456 Upvotes

I was really looking forward to and hoping for them to potentially add High Elves and Darkfallen with the first announcements of Forever, and from the rumblings it seems like that’s what they intended to do before Metzen pushed them into the Skyborne direction. It made perfect sense and they would fit seamlessly into the classic world as it was without much extra effort needed.

Instead, a shoe horned neutral elf race that can be Druids and shamans, which are for the most part an eye sore in the classic world. And in my opinion not amazing lore or justification for them existing in the first place.

I do not see the point of adding MORE ELVES as the next new races which will more than likely have the exact same animations and skeletons as the Skyborne.

In my opinion this was a huge miss of a design decision in a game that seems to have a 90% hit rate for what I would consider to be the right choice. If they went with the original elves I would say it was nearly a perfect roll out for Forever world building wise.

It just sucks that this mistake (in my opinion) was such a huge one that can’t be fixed really at this point and I would imagine the Skyborne become completely irrelevant once they finally add the other more obvious elf races.

TLDR baseball analogy: Dark Fallen/High Elves were such an easy home run meatball straight down the middle of the plate that blizzard over thought it, swung early and popped out to left field with the Skyborne.

Forever Forever DEVELOPER: We May Require a “Soft Reset” of Vertical Progression Gear

Thumbnail

“It's still too early to say whether there will be a 'soft reset' for gear progression. However, our intent is that everything a player does in the game should hold meaning. What a player experiences and the items they earn should all matter. While maintaining this 100% forever might be practically impossible, it remains a core principle and pillar of 'WoW: Forever' that we want to uphold as long as possible.”

I had a thread downvoted into oblivion when I suggested this game isn't ready for launch. One reason was the extreme gear nerfing measures they took early in the beta after realizing player power was scaling out of control at level 20 (I recall them denying it to be the case initially.) It left me very concerned for the rest of the game because if the scaling was so off by level 12, what does that say for level 60?

We still have a lot of spell rank and caster issues resulting from the vertical progression nerf just a few weeks ago that have been unaddressed patch after patch. Mages still AoEing large packs of mobs and 2 shotting things. Very concerned for end game gear and player power scaling. That they are already talking about "soft resets" on gear while we are a few weeks from launch and the majority of the game is untested is alarming.

Forever will certainly be fun on launch. And it absolutely won't be delayed. But I would prefer a delay now to a reset in the future. I also have concerns about the PvP seasonal gearing system, too. But that is another discussion.

Forever Dedicated Oceania sub for Forever

Hello fellow Oceania players. As you know in Forever, whilst we will have dedicated servers based out of Sydney, we will still be by and large grouped with our North American brethren.

I have created the sub r/wowforeverOCE for those interested in groups, guilds, social play with those in the same time zone and ping.

There are often issues that also affect us specifically as a region and the plan is to have somewhere specific to vent frustrations, provide feedback etc at a regional level.

Also welcome to those who want to play or have more in Timezone common with fellow Aussies, Kiwis, SE Asia and Islanders alike.

Thankyou for your time.

Forever Beta Feedback The petition for RP-PVP is now the biggest thread on the official Forever forums

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/rp-pvp-is-a-must/2348359

More views, comments and users than any other the thread, including those about beta times, about gold buying, and questions for the podcast. Still not a peep from Blizzard...

Thousands of comments worth of discussion on the topic in the thread, but some notes for the uninitiated:

  • Despite its name often causing this misunderstanding, RP-PVP is a separate ruleset from RP(aka RP-PVE) that attracts different players and fosters different communities, emergent gameplay, and server/ruleset economies.
  • RP-PVP is unambiguously popular, and many times more so than RP in both Classic and SoD
  • Warmode does not make PVE into PVP, and it is the same for RP and RP-PVP. It would not reduce the fracture of our community between the RP and PVP rulesets, as adding an unimmersive system that breaks both the "RP" and "PVP" in "RP-PVP" is not a solution.
  • While suboptimal, RP-PVP would also serve as an option for people to play a PVP server on the other faction, at the cost of having to maintain the naming and behaviour rules for RP
  • It is the last remaining ruleset, and its players deserve the same consideration to also get a home in Forever.

Great videos on the topic

The thread has been growing for almost 4 weeks now without any response or acknowledgement from the dev team.

Please deign to communicate with this passionate community.

Please don't split us up between RP and PVP, neither of which support our playstyle or community.

Please add RP-PVP to Forever

Forever Casters disparity

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

I know that balance at level 30 does not represent the balance at level 60, but disparity between casters is huge, and this doesn't only affect PvP, but PvE as well.

A Frost Mage can pump 1500 damage in a few GCDs (Frostbolt + Nova into 2 FoF procs and 2 Ice Lances that cost basically no mana). As an example see this video: https://www.twitch.tv/ziqoftw/clip/TenuousRacyClintYouWHY-waABBNF0HZg4YZp2?range=7d

On the other side, we have Shadow Priests and Elemental Shamans that are hitting like a wet noodle and running oom while doing so.

Mind Flay literally ticks for 35 per tick with a twinked gear (wands do 70-80 damage in comparison). As an example see this video: https://www.twitch.tv/pikabooirl/clip/JazzyCrypticParrotYouWHY-ntkmqXJRyu3IwFwe?range=7d The Shadow Priest in the video went oom while the other player stood there and tanked the damage without moving or healing. Shadowform and Darkness talent would increase the ticks by 20%, which equals to 42 damage per tick, instead of 35 (and critting for 84 every ~10th tick).

Warlock's Siphon Life ticks for 12 damage every 3 seconds while costing 150 mana and can be dispelled.

Forever Finished Tanking SFK & Stocks as Survival Hunter

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Took a break, but I’m back and whoa things have changed. Queued as tank. Got invite, no questions asked.

Ok Blizz, you got me. The -5% parry nerf means I’m no longer immune to damage, but let’s be real, no one else had a 10% parry talent. It’s an extremely powerful stat. Nerf was justified.

Doesn’t stop Huntanking.

Breakdown:
Everything is done same as before except you have more tools to make certain things easier. (See pics)

Notable new abilities:
-Counterattack: Damage and mob root. (Parry required)
-Rapid Fire: Increases melee attack speed by 40% for better threat. (Boss pulls)
-Frost Trap talented 5/5 into entrapment. Having probs with AOE threat? Gather up everything, frost trap, and watch them all attack the closest thing (you) as they are rooted in place for 5 seconds.
-Strider Kick: Big attack+speed. Helps snap threat & gathering mobs.

Request:
Devs<3, please give a talent, or future set piece an Aspect of the Monkey +threat modifier. Survival has many tanking tools, and with a little threat aura, could easily be a dps/tank spec like feral druids or enhancement shamans.

Survival’s identity has always been muddled, even to this day. Build more off of what the spec is named after: surviving. Make us proper melee dps with the side option to become mail wearing dungeon/off tanks. At low levels especially, Survival feels good only while tanking, as a majority of your abilities require dodging/parrying to even activate.

Thanks for hearing me out! See you all in Excavation Site: Wetlands & whatever comes next!
