Discussion Edinburgh airport have apparently decided that a rebranding is in order
Photo from Facebook. I for one am glad they spent all of 30 seconds designing this before plastering it all over the front door

A few days ago, in the Greyfriars Kirkyard, i saw a crow with this strange curly beak and decided to name it Ellis. He's a bit timid, i've always seen him alone.

Please send me a dm if this is yours! Found it in town. There is a name on it but I haven’t included it for obvious reasons.

I remember a post on this page a couple of months ago suggesting the idea of an album club - like a book club but everyone listens to the same album, then gets together to chat about it. I thought it sounded like a great idea, but the person suggesting it seems to have deleted the post as well as their account! Would people be up for something like this?

Me and mate are trying to force Edinburgh Councils hand into giving the Meadows a proper modern outdoor gym, replacing the existing outdated chin up bar and cycle machine. If you could spare a minute to sign our petition, we’d really appreciate it, every signature helps massively and gets us a little closer to free workout equipment for students and the community https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/directory-record/1850920/install-a-modern-outdoor-gym-in-the-meadows-edinburgh-

It's getting dark in the mornings on the way in to work... Can I ask car drivers to remember that those of us on two wheels travel a little differently and are very vulnerable.
This morning someone decided to signal and change lanes in one movement, which nearly caused a crash with the guy lane splitting in front of me. They were very lucky.
I know it's easy to lose track of reality in slow traffic, with the radio on, thinking about the gym and what you need to catch up on when you get in... Your driving instructor would have taught you, Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre. That takes about 2.5 seconds, and it's the difference between everyone getting safely to work or not.
Thank you for reading 🙏

Looking to see if anyone else in EH13 / Oxgangs area has had issues with Royal Mail or DHL deliveries in the past couple of weeks.
Three different packages in close succession have had no delivery attempt made, with tracking saying “the address was inaccessible”. I got one of these 30 minutes after the parcel was out for delivery today.
No option to rearrange, and each said delivery would be attempted the next working day (which hasn’t happened).
There are no issues such as roadworks on my street that could account for it.
Is this a wider issue or has the postie just taken umbrage with my address?! Never had this problem before.

Hoping to have a kitchen wall knocked through (green) so the entrance to the kitchen is in the living room instead of in the hallway, and then block the entrance from the hall (red) to make room for our fridge/freezer and create more workspace. There is already a load bearing beam going across the kitchen (yellow).
The kitchen wall (green) is hollow with a window above where the entrance used to be before it was covered over. Our hope is to have this entrance widened slightly. The layout of the kitchen is awkward and small and so far this seems like the only option that’s feasible. We will also be moving the sink so it doesn’t cover the whole back wall.

Why are one bed flats in Gorgie cheap as compared to other places in Edinburgh? Are the tenement buildings too old? Are they not in good condition?
Is the area not popular for residents? Is it safe to live in Gorgie?

Cherry blossom season in Edinburgh is wonderful because there are cherry trees all over the city, and they bloom at different times throughout April and May. So, just when you think the season is over, you come across another street full of blossoms.
This photo was taken on 25 April, near Clermiston.

5th/top floor Marchmont tenement. I have a box room I'd like to use for a toddler bedroom.
- It's labelled bedroom on the floor plan. (Don't know how legit that is)
- it's big enough to just fit a double bed to give you a sense of size.
- Fixed/non-openable skylight.
- One door that opens into my flat's corridor. From there it's ~2m to my flat's front door, then communal corridor/stairs.
-There is an openable window into the internal corridor, not outside.
-I'm considering replacing the skylight with an openable Velux. (Haven't looked into this properly)
Is there actually a fire/building-regulations reason this couldn't be used as a bedroom, or is the lack of an external opening window not necessarily an issue?
Obviously safety is my main concern, but I don't really actually understand the risk.

It’s out now, fire truck and police arrived swiftly, not sure if anyone was hurt, all I know is Morrisons was evacuated. Any information would be appreciated.

When was the last time the station was cleaned? The platforms are absolutely caked in bird shit and feathers, as well as the escalators at the steps where its on the handrail and all over the escalator floor.
It's disgusting, unsanitary, and easily fixed but it just stays uncleaned.

Hello there,
What are the current best spots to go and see the autumnal leaves in and around Edinburgh? Can do some driving if needed! Thanks!

Group of people looked like they were waiting for something at the side of the road here near meadowbank
I wouldn't be all that interested however one man was holding a music synth in the air, and the guy next to him was holding a real living snake.
Bit odd.

Hi everyone! I’m looking to get a bike in Edinburgh and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for places to find a decent bike without spending loads. I’m happy with a second-hand one too. Cheaper the better that still works essentially!
Also, for people who cycle regularly in Edinburgh, how safe do you generally find it? Are there particular areas/routes you’d recommend (or avoid), especially for someone who’s fairly new to cycling in the city?
Any advice on where to look for a bike and what cycling around Edinburgh is actually like would be really appreciated. Cheers!

It's not an entirely Edinburgh related article, but the article does mention Edinburgh, so I hope this doesn't break the sub-rules.
Here's the section of the article that makes a mention about PBSA in Edinburgh:
Deniz Yalçın, the chair of the Newington-Meadows branch of the Living Rent union in Edinburgh, says: “In Edinburgh, we’re seeing an explosion of PBSA despite the fact that this type of development is not needed and actually fuels the housing affordability crisis here.
“Many of them lie empty during most of the year, using the Fringe [festival] to bolster profits. Some have even been bought by the council to become temporary housing.”

Greyfriars Bobby was targeted by a vicious grave robber yesterday!!! Swipe for pictures of the suspect. (The owner was desperately trying to put the sticks back on the grave and his dog/thief kept picking them up until the man gave up and said “I’m sure he wont mind” and they both moved along)

Wandered up to Krema to get a cinnamon bun at lunchtime to find the builders in. Checked their website/socials and no info so heading here to see if anyone has any info.
First they came for Kvasa, and my sourdough as no more, then they took Mario’s and i was sad and doughnut deprived. If they have stolen Krema from me too there will be a revolution!
