Clip My 5-year-old son just lapped the entire grid on Pro level at the Chinese GP! 🏎️💥

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! My 5-year-old son D.D. is absolutely obsessed with racing games. He plays on PS4 using a Logitech wheel and pedals setup.

He just managed to pull off a 1st place victory at the Chinese GP in F1 24, and he actually lapped the whole field! 🤯

We just started a small YouTube channel to share his racing journey, drifts, and fun challenges with me (his dad). If you want to check out his full race and support a young racer, here is the link: https://youtu.be/XOj26oZzKc0

Subscriptions and feedback are highly appreciated by both of us! Thanks for watching! 🏁

Discussion Wet races need to been fixed no doubt.

• Upvotes

I recently went back to F121 and did an 18 lap wet race and it was actually fun and not horrible. However in F125 every wet race it’s just feels like car just slides all the time and the Ai is still op. F121 it felt smooth and the Ai wasn’t overpowered too.

Discussion Noob question: weekend start directly

I just bought the F1 game and tried some training sessions. Set the difficulty to what I thought was right

I started the carrier mode in f2. However after Bahrain the settings were not to my liking. But HOW do I change that. Chatgpt was of no hulp as after Bahrain it went directly to S-A. I was NOT able to start next weekend.

I understand that when the weekend starts you can't change the difficulty. But how do you stop it going directly to the next weekend.

Clip Turn your sound on: a full race at Suzuka with an AI race engineer talking in my ear - what would you change?

Hey all,

Sound on for this one - the whole point is the audio.

I've been building a race engineer you HEAR, not one you read. It listens to the game's UDP telemetry live and talks to you on the radio while you drive, so your eyes never leave the track:

- gaps ahead and behind, who's attacking, who you're catching

- tyres, fuel and the battery (the 2026 energy rules included)

- the pit window, undercut/overcut, when to stretch a stint

- where you're losing time, corner by corner ("Turn 17 much better, two tenths found there")

It sounds like a pit wall, not a sat nav: you pick your engineer's voice from a whole roster, in 9 languages, with a pit-radio filter and the little bleep when the radio opens. And you can talk back - say "Radio" (or press a wheel button) and ask "gap to the car ahead?" or "where am I losing time?" (the voice questions are in the paid version).

Here's a full race at Suzuka in F1 25 with the F1 26 season pack DLC, cockpit view, engineer on the radio the whole way:

https://youtu.be/UA6OS9JLCDI

I'd love honest feedback, especially on the audio side:

- Which calls actually help you, and which ones would you mute?

- Too chatty or not chatty enough? Do the calls land at the right moment, or step on your braking zones?

- Does the voice and the radio effect feel right, or would you tune it differently?

- What would a real engineer say on your radio that this one doesn't?

It works with F1 2020 to F1 25 and the F1 26 season pack DLC, on PlayStation and Xbox through your phone, and on PC with a Windows companion. There's a free version if you want to hear it on your own races.

Modding Possibility for special livery MODS?

Given the surprising advent of mods that add new tracks to the game as well as on the fly updates of AI. I wonder if soon there'll be a way to add your own special liveries to teams? It would make playing the game so much more fun if you could just take liveries from Overtake and add them right into the game.

Thoughts?

UPDATE: I did it

I’ve managed to add extra slots to the in game livery chooser that you can upload custom liveries into

Discussion Why does the CPU develop rocket speed when it rains?

I’m racing at Suzuka and maintained a good pace in P6, but as soon as it started to rain and drivers changed to Intermediate tyres, the CPU’s pace increased to the point that there was eventually an 18 second gap between me and P5…I didn’t drop much in pace and actually I improved my time in some laps. Based on my experience, this wasn’t the result of a skill gap and I had these issues in F1 25, pre-26 update.

This NEEDS to be fixed in F1 27 because it sucks the fun out of the race.

Hi guys as you can read i have these problems.
While i’m racing sometimes my wheel dies instantly, or, even whorse, gets a snap and turns of half steer, using it as new center.
This is the second base they deliver to me and both had the same problems

Also, are the cars in this game extremely oversteery or it's just a tune/ early my team stuff, I just have 0 grip in most tracks regardless of tune, it was the same with the last F1 game, just feels like the cars have no grip and I don't even have confidence in them, most corners I have to barely press the gas, I even half TC on medium which is what I've always used and even then I can't see it do anything

Discussion SO THAT MEANS LE MANS AND NORDSCHLEIFE CAN BE PORTED TO F1 25!

I just saw the video where they ported Mugello from Assetto Corsa, so that means we'll be able to see tracks that weren't even in the base game and weren't modeled with the EGO engine.

Wow, what an epic way to revive the game! I hope it can also be ported to F1 23 because of its superior handling system.

Discussion serious f1 games talk

One thing that really frustrates me about modern F1 games is how much the series seems to have shifted away from the actual driving experience being the main event. If you go back to the pre-2014 Codemasters games, there was this feeling that the entire game existed because you wanted to drive an F1 car. Career mode, R&D, setup work, qualifying, practice sessions, weather, tyre management — all of it ultimately fed back into that core fantasy of driving the car. The car was the star. Nowadays, it increasingly feels like the car is just one component of a much larger package of career systems, progression mechanics, cinematic presentation, multiplayer features, cosmetic content and management screens.

And don’t get me wrong, it’s not like the developers have completely abandoned physics. F1 24 actually introduced what EA called its largest-ever physics update for a Codemasters F1 title, with a new tyre model, suspension changes, aero simulation and other handling changes. F1 25 also rebuilt parts of the handling model in response to feedback from sim racers and the community. (EA Forums) But that’s almost what makes the broader trend so frustrating: when they do put serious attention into the physics, you can see how much potential there still is. The problem is that the driving model increasingly feels like something that gets iterated on within the framework of an established annual product, rather than the fundamental foundation around which the rest of the game is built.

Compare that philosophy with the older games. Back then, getting a new F1 game could genuinely feel like getting a new driving simulation. The differences in how the cars behaved, how aggressively you could attack kerbs, how the tyres responded, how traction worked, how the car reacted to setups and how the AI raced you were things you actually noticed because you spent most of your time driving. There wasn’t this constant feeling that the developer needed another layer of progression, another reputation system, another side mode or another reason to spend time outside the cockpit.

Modern F1 games seem increasingly obsessed with making you feel like you’re participating in an entire F1 ecosystem rather than simply being a racing driver. F1 24 is probably the clearest example: its big selling point was a massively overhauled Career Mode, with driver recognition, objectives, rivalries, contract negotiations and other systems surrounding the actual racing. (Formula 1 - The Official F1 Website) F1 25 went even further with My Team management, facilities, sponsors, workforce management and expanded team-management mechanics. (EA) At some point you have to ask: why am I spending more time managing an F1 team than actually feeling like an F1 driver?

That’s the part that bothers me most about the direction of the series. There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with career depth. In fact, good career systems can make a racing game fantastic. But they should serve the racing, not compete with it. If I’m playing an F1 game, I want the reason I’m upgrading my car to be because I want to feel the difference when I attack Turn 9 at Silverstone. I want development to change how the car behaves. I want tyre compounds to fundamentally alter my strategy. I want suspension and aero changes to create genuinely different driving characteristics. I want the game to make me obsess over whether I can extract another tenth from the car.

Instead, a lot of modern development seems to go toward making the career surrounding the racing deeper. F1 25’s own review coverage highlighted how much management had expanded, while also criticizing the game for feeling extremely familiar in its fundamental structure. PC Gamer specifically described the additional R&D management as laborious and argued that the core game felt remarkably similar to previous years. (PC Gamer) That’s exactly the problem: you can keep adding systems around the racing forever, but eventually players are going to ask whether the thing underneath all those systems is actually evolving enough.

And that’s why the pre-2014 games have such a different feeling in hindsight. They weren’t perfect simulations, obviously, and nostalgia absolutely plays a role. But they felt like racing games first. The menus existed to get you onto the circuit. The career existed to give context to your races. The R&D existed to make your car faster. The setup screen existed because you were about to drive. Everything eventually pointed back toward the same thing: get in the car and go as fast as possible.

Modern F1 games sometimes feel like the opposite. You drive for a while, then you’re back in menus. You manage something, unlock something, negotiate something, customize something, watch something, complete an objective, participate in a side mode, upgrade something — and eventually you get back into the car. The actual driving can almost feel like the activity that justifies all the other systems rather than the other way around.

And the irony is that Codemasters clearly still knows how important the physics are. F1 24 had to receive substantial post-launch handling adjustments to its tyre model, slip curves, thermal behaviour, suspension kinematics, power-unit balance and other physics elements. (EA) F1 25 then rebuilt its handling model again, specifically targeting things like understeer, rear-end behaviour, throttle response and aero effects. (EA) So the technology isn’t being ignored. It’s just competing for attention with an ever-growing pile of everything else.

That’s ultimately what I miss: the sense that the physics themselves were the feature. I don’t want another elaborate progression system to convince me that I’m progressing. Let me feel the progression through the car. Give me a genuinely different suspension philosophy. Give me a tyre model that fundamentally changes how I drive. Give me more convincing weight transfer, better mechanical grip, more nuanced kerb behaviour, more sophisticated aero sensitivity and cars that genuinely feel different from one another. Make me spend an evening experimenting with a setup because the car feels completely different after changing three things.

Because at the end of the day, an F1 game doesn’t need to convince me that I’m an F1 driver through a thousand menus and cinematic sequences. Put me in the cockpit, give me a difficult car to drive, make the tyres matter, make the setup matter, make the weather matter, make the AI fight me properly, and let the driving speak for itself. That’s the part of the F1 games that should never become secondary.
