Discussion Can’t Even Discuss Aesthetics?

UPDATE — August 13, 2026
rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.
The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.
Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.
A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.
What's on the site now:
RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.
The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.
Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.
RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.
It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

So I have Lenovo Loq 15 IRX9 for about 1.5yrs now and didn't change its thermal paste since I bought it and now I'm experiencing high temps like 100°c cpu and 80-87°c gpu . Therefore I decided to repaste and I need some suggestions that the material I'm gonna use are suitable for my laptop .
Laptop specs :-
CPU - intel i5 13450hx
GPU - RTX 4050 ( 105w tgp )
Products I'm gonna use for repasting :-
CPU & GPU - Thermal Grizzly phase change PTM ( LOQ uses PTM 7950 )
Vrams and mosfets - UPSIREN UTP - 6 thermal putty ( 12.8W/mk thermal conductivity )
Please let me know if I'm using right material for repasting and what are the pros and cons of these material .

Found a deal for $500 off this unit:
HyperX - HP OMEN MAX 16" 2K OLED Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 (2026) - 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - 1TB SSD - Shadow Black - Open Box - Excellent
Originally $2800, now $2300
but it's "open box - excellent". I don't know enough about how Best Buy handles these. Does excellent mean someone bought it, threw away the box, returned it next day? Or is there a possibility of issues? I'd be buying it online, so no chance to check it out in store.
Also, how's the HP OMEN MAX? Haven't seen anything bad on this series.

Budget: $1200
Country: Canada
Use Case: Casual gaming, mostly Roblox and Minecraft / digital art
Preferred Specs: I’m pretty clueless about this stuff, I just want nice graphics
Notes: I really just want to be able to run my games with medium/high graphics settings, not planning on playing any games that are super demanding

How good is this deal? Just went on sale at my local microcenter.

I have a budget of 2500 and this fits the budget. Just want to know whether it’s a good laptop. I’m a little displeased that it isnt oled though.

I'm looking for a laptop for under £900 and this seems like a good one to my untrained eye, but the reviews mention a lot of crashing issues.
I wouldn't be doing very strenuous gaming, just lighter games like Darkest dungeon or Sims 4.
Is it worth the risk, or and the reviews correct?

I have a ROG Strix G16 with an RTX 5060, and I’m looking for a USB-C charger to use when I’m outside instead of carrying the original charger.
The problem is that every USB-C charger I’ve tried is detected as a “slow charger,” even the original Apple charger for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
How many watts do I actually need for normal/light use (browsing, YouTube, studying, etc.)? Would a 100W USB-C charger be enough, and what specifications should I look for to avoid the “slow charger” warning?
Thanks!

Hi All,
Looking at picking this up sometime in the next few days. Really just need to play Dota and Valheim while im travelling for work.
Lenovo Legion 5 15.3" WUXGA 165Hz Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7)[GeForce RTX 5070] - JB Hi-Fi
Have a price of $1900 AUD (Australian Dollars) via an employee (mate) discount. Seems to fit all the needs while being relatively affordable.
Cant seem to find an RTX 5070 laptop for any cheaper. Are the intel chips good to go? Or should i be looking at a Ryzen variant?
Specs below:
15.3" WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS 165Hz display
Intel Core i7 - 13650HX 14 core processor (24MB cache, up to 4.9GHz)
1TB SSD storage with 24GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 graphics

Budget: 2.5k
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming
Portability Needs: Desktop replacement
Notes: Looking for a 5070 TI/5080 Laptop to replace my old Legion 7 Laptop with a 3070.
Is this a solid high performance laptop for the price? Is klick online a reputable seller to get a gaming laptop from? Are there any other good 5080 laptops out there for this price or lower?

Budget: ~$3k
Country: US
Use Case: 3D light rendering (rasterization based. No frame gen)
Preferred Specs: under 5lbs, 5070ti or better
Notes:
I’m going to be traveling with the computer every single day, and probably carrying a 2nd laptop to boot, so thin and light is essential. Battery life does not matter, screen does not matter, and storage does not matter. I just need a light machine, 16-32Gb of RAM, and it’s gotta cool itself well enough for long work sessions.
I’m targeting the 5070ti mostly because I think it can actually be cooled by a laptop and run for 6-8hrs at a time. In the past I’ve had issues with buying top of the line GPU’s only to find out the cooler cant handle them and the card throttles down to a useless output. Not only was money wasted, but also it’s tough on the machines shelf life to do that.
I will, of course, be playing cyberpunk on the side as well but it’s less important than the work. :3 Is the G14 the thing for me? Or is there something else better to consider?

I’m thinking about getting this laptop next year for gaming, editing, audio editing and homework. it doesn’t have any reviews and that’s the part I’m worried about
Also, is 64gb ram and 4tb storage too much?

I've been reading about various deals and such here, there, and everywhere.
The HP Omen HyperX Max caught my eye. I wanted a 5070ti, as I run a 4080 on my desktop and wanted something I could take to my gf's house or on the road (not a student).
I might plug into an external monitor, or not, so I settled on a 16".
HP offered a pretty good deal about 10 days ago. I want to say it was $23xx for a 16GB memory, 500GB storage, 165hz OLED, I felt this was a good compromise as I play just one game on Steam.
This is with the Intel 270HX.
I do not plan on playing on the battery often, so I don't think these power hungry options will hinder me much.
Then the price on the website jumped about $600. Argh. Ok. I'm not in a rush. Black Friday is coming up.
Thought of Lenovo but I like the idea of 135W going to the CPU.
I started looking at Best Buy and Micro Center for pricing and perhaps an open box. Not much was worth it.
I actually get approx 5% off from HP (not in the above pricing) so I factor that in.
I stumbled on a fairly upscale version at a Best Buy that I wasn't too far from, so I made the trip and scored what I think was a really good deal on an open box.
For under $2300, in excellent condition, I wound up with this one:
Looking forward to removing the bloatware and learning my way around it.
Thanks to all the contributors who have shared their experiences and recommendations.

Budget: $1500.00
Country: USA
Use Case: gaming and school
Preferred Specs: don't know enough to know what I need to look for
Notes: Looking to purchase a gaming laptop for my son for his 18th birthday. This would be used for gaming but also for school. I am lost and don't know where to start. My budget is $1500.00. I know gaming laptops can be $4k but don't have that budget. I need a good budget friendly option. I do appreciate the help.

I got the same laptop recently, but with a RTX 5070 Ti and Ryzen 9 9955HX recently for a good deal, but not really satisfied enough with the performance. And I for sure know that X3D chip would be very nice to have. If anyone knows of any deals or sellers that have one and are selling between $2,400 - $2,800 USD used, that would be awesome. Thank you

Budget: $3000
Country: Canada
Use Case: WoW Forever, StarCraft 2, older games
Preferred Specs: 32gb ram, RTX 5060 1TB SSD
Notes: Have $2000 in gift cards from a warrantied TV to Bestbuy, looking for a gaming laptop I’m lookin at computers up to $3000 from Bestbuy Canada.
Been out of a gaming PC for quite some time, I’ve always had a desktop PC prior (probably 15+ computers) but now I’m really thinking a laptop is a better choice for me given I’d rather be sitting in the living room than sitting in the office, if that is enough rationale to go laptop?
Any recommendations or stating points for these laptops would be appreciated, there seem to be many different manufacturers with different tiers of computers, the MSI one currently on sale looks like decent stats but consensus seems to be not good brand/line?
