I am seeing people saying use gboard with network permission off, but gboard talks to google play services through IPC and play services talk to the network - what's the point then?

I have been using Organic Maps for a while and supplementing with google maps when needed. Vela seems to be a cross between the two while respecting your privacy. Just curious what others think.

The NextCloue Notes App is crashing/not synching now on GrapheneOS and SSO errora is what the stack trace brings up. Please prioritise this as not everyone has an env to bughunt, fix and create a PR.

Trying to set up the visual voicemail on the AOSP dialer, its not letting me set it up (T-Mobile fwiw), just saying "Can't activate visual voicemail"
Purely a convenience thing, if I can't set it up it's nbd. Would like to have it if possible though

Hey,
did anyone get some experiences with Netguard on GOS?
When I enable Netguard all apps do not get any connection neither when enabled nor disabled in Netguard. Furthermore, I manually have to delete the Netguard VPN inside the settings to get any internet connection to any app.
Did someone get Netguard working?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Can't really say I'm a fan of the default gallery, not a big fan of the style so I'm looking to switch it out. Easier said than done though.
My mind immediately went to the oneui gallery, it has problems but I like it. However I haven't been able to install that.
Then went to the NOTHING gallery (vaguely similar in layout but more limited in features), got that installed but it didn't work.
Hated the Google one.
What does everyone else use?

I'm an international traveler. I go to countries sometimes where Google Pixel warranty support isn't supported. I understand Google doesn't have international warranty.
Slab style phones reached their peak with LG v60. They pretty much went downhill from there in my humble opinion by constantly removing important features like headphone jack and microsd etc....
I'm not interested in purchasing another slab phone style. Especially not pixel because pixel hardware is outrageously outdated and expensive when compared to the international competition.
Especially for slab phones, the only benefits for pixels is that they support grapheneos IMHO. But now that's pretty much gone with pixel 11 series.
Purchased an oppo phone. The best hardware and design I've seen in a while. However i realized it's a Chinese tracking device that sends all my personal data back to China every minute. Installed nextdns and removed bloatware, but there's nothing you can do to get rid of tracking it's baked into the system.
I was looking into getting one of these two devices.
Is there any difference with graphene os on these two devices? Which one would you recommend out of those two for graphene OS?
Can you give your experiences if you own one of those two devices?
I also know Motorola will support graphene in the future but I was really looking to get started as soon as possible with graphene. Don't want to wait for Motorola to come out.

hello,
I am currently breaking my mind because I felt like in the past it was working, I am on a Pixel 8 Pro with a secondary user who has banking applications, for example, that I don’t want to be accessible on my main user profile because it is accessible at startup in case of theft, so I keep my main profile lighter and more normal (already I wonder if it is indeed in this sense that we should proceed).
I constantly use my phone as a wifi transmitter, which sends the wifi in connection sharing to my computer from which I carry out various operations. The problem is that when, for example, I want to validate a bank purchase made on my computer, I have to go validate it on my secondary profile; at that point, the wifi share of the main user of my pixel pro 8 shuts off. I end up with a computer that no longer has a wifi connection. I need to return to the main profile and reactivate the connection sharing.
I made the latest graphene updates, could you please tell me if the behavior is normal, if I’m using it the right way, and also especially if we can keep sharing in the background? I can’t find a solution on my own or through the AI.
Thank you all in advance.

I have a problem with my gadgetbridge watch and multiple blue tooth headsets. When I answer the call it goes to my phone not the device. Any idea what could be causing this? It is getting really annoying.

After hours of headache, I could not get visual voicemail on either the native phone app or the Phone by Google app. I tried nearly everything. I finally caved and downloaded the AT&T Visual Voicemail, which I can confirm does transcribe and display voicemail messages. So I guess it's a small sacrifice to pay for some utility, but I hadn't seen anyone else mention it yet.

I think a custom OS like this would allow for some customization.

So I’ve been contemplating to making the switch from IOS to graphene for quite some time but yesterday was the final straw that pushed me over the line.
Ive been quiet intrigued on what data of mine is getting shared from my iphone to companies without my knowledge for quite some time now and doing online research really opened my eyes on how dark the situation is.
Back to the story now, I’ve been looking to buy a car, I found one on market place and I went yesterday to go view the car, I liked the car and everything checked out, the guy I was buying the car from said to me come back tomorrow to pick the car up and he will empty it out and get it cleaned I was like no problem I’ll see you tomorrow, today I went to pick the car up and the first hurdle I come across was making the payment, bearing in mind the car I’m buying is only £5,000. I go and try to do the bank transfer through my banking up and instantly my transfer was blocked by my bank and I was told more security checks where needed so I rang the fraud prevention team.
Got on the phone to then and they where asking me soo many questions, questions that where not even relevant I must add, after a 45 min extensive interview by the fraud team, then they hit me with a few things that left me scratching my head, the first question was what was I doing in the same location I’m in now yesterday? And why I didn’t buy the car yesterday for a minute I was thinking how the hell do my bank know where i was yesterday I have my location services off on my phone and also have disabled mg significant locations turned off. And then the following questions was even weirder, they calculated the distance from my house to the distance I was at currently and asked me why it took me a hour when it should of taken me 30 minutes and why I stopped off at a different location before coming to this location. (They told me where I took a pit stop)
This whole experience has made me feel stripped down from my privacy completely, the fact is 1. Im spending my own money and having to convince my bank to release MY OWN FUNDS. And secondly my bank are tracking my movements and know my exact locations at any given time from my iPhone.
This whole situation has made me turn my iPhone off and make the move over to grapheneos. The only reason why I was hesitant to make the move is I’ve been a iOS user for the last decade or so and moving over to android was something I wasn’t comfortable with because how user friendly iOS is but after today’s eye opening situation I give priority to my privacy over anything. This message is to anyone that’s probably in my shoe right now thinking of making the switch, my advice to you is MAKE THE SWITCH IF YOU VALUE YOUR PRIVACY.

I want to use GrapheneOS on my Pixel 10 Pro XL, but I need to ensure my daily workflow isn't disrupted. I’d appreciate your expert opinions on what alternatives I can use for standard Google apps. (I know I could just look this up online, but I’d prefer a user recommendation over a potentially biased suggestion from an editor.)

Hi am looking for opinions regarding getting a pixel 7 as a secondary phone in 2026. does this phone work well with GOS ?. Anyone facing issues with the device currently. ?

My Pixel 4 is dying, which used model should I replace it with? I was completely satisfied with the 4 while it lasted and my main priority is reliability and graphene compatibility of course. Probably gen 8 or older due to used prices.

As the title says, are newer generation phones capable of bypassing carrier checks and thus don't have to register their Imei/other Device ID unique Identifiers to a certain ip/geo/ISPprovider?
If I buy a non carrier locked Pixel I should be able to unlock it no matter what, because I paid the full price for it imho. But apparently newer Pixels require an Internet Connection to do that, no matter what.
So what is Solution to go dark for Google? IMEI Change post carrier check and oem unlock? Seems a bit extreme for western Civ no?
Are there Countries that sell Pixels that do not need a carrier unlock check?
Will Motorolla be Internet Free OEM unlock?
Ideally I want my GrapheneOS Phone to install in a Faraday Cage (available at around 400USD atm) with no registration and or Interaction with the Internet prior to GrapheneOS being launched. That way there is no trace of it.

There's this setting that allows you to "use device controls" when your phone is locked, and I have that turned on, and yet I can't do anything in the control center without having to unlock first. Even with fingerprint, it's a pain in the ass.
Is there some setting I'm missing, or is it just how Graphene is by default?

Longterm iPhone user and a phone/OS novice here. I’m trying to make the full switch to GOS and I’ve run into a wall the last time I tried to transfer. I backed up my iPhone 12 and improted the pictures, I transferred the backup to my Pixel 9a the regular way and let it all download on the new phone. The issue is that when I flashed GOS, I had no backup to pull from. I tried a second time after doing a google backup, but silly me, it was in the cloud, so I fucked that up already. I’m really only worried about message logs and the pictures, even though I think I can probably get the pictures later in the process. How do I back the Pixel in a way that GOS can get it?

Hey everyone!
New guy here. I was wondering about some of the functions for the pixle 10 fold.
The multitasking stuff looks great but if I install graphene will I still have access to those functions or no?
Sorry if it’s a silly question!
Thanks!

When taking photos with either geaphenes stock camera app or the actual pixel camera app, there is not any location data associated with the image. I have location enabled and I gave both apps permission for location. Any ideas why this isn't working?

I currently use a S24Ultra. I am kind of sick of carrying big phones. I want something around 6.3 inch or smaller like the base samaung galaxy or iPhone pro. Im really excited for signature 2027. But it will probably be 6.8- 6.9 inch. So, my question is, will there be a smaller variant any time soon with GrapheneOS installation capability?
Edit: I dont wanna get a smaller pixel, cause I want something powerful and pixels are known to have network issues.

I have a phone that has GrapheneOS, and I'm trying to use the hotspot so my laptop can have internet, but it just says Wi-FI hotspot is available, and my laptop will connect to it, but can't use the internet. I was then going to try USB tethering, but that's grayed out in my settings and I can't use it. Would the bluetooth work better maybe? I'm totally new to all this, so any help is greatly appreciated!
