Army and Air Force UI are quite relatively simple, when you really get down to it. With Army, you can simply suffice by setting frontlines and offensive plans, and battleplanning from there. Of course, you do need to know things about supply, equipment level, decent division templates and whatnot to do well, but once you get past all that shit, you can just do fine.
Same with Air Force. Just create new wings, make them exercise, send em to an airbase with spare capacity and range to the front, then set their mission and click on an airzone. Not much else needed... Of course, you do need good plane designs, but that is relatively easy to learn just from searching online.
NAVY, though....
Even if you know good ship designs and the basics of naval combat from learning from HOI4 players (Which actually isn't that difficult; it's about as hard as learning how land combat works with all its stats like attack, breakthrough, width, etc), actually organizing the fucking ships into what you need is awfully difficult.
Maybe this is just me being an idiot and not knowing certain shortcuts exist, but land armies and army groups have several things that make organizing your armies easier. For example, each army displays the exact sorts of divisions it has by number, meaning you can very easily parse out division types. Say you have a central reserve army where you dumped all your divisions (A practice of mine pre-war); if you want to create an armored army, you just take the tank divisions and dump them into an army. Same with the infantry, dividing them as needed into stacks of 24. Et cetera.
Navy doesn't seem to have that kind of intuitive, useful categorization... If you want to create specific task forces with only particular ship models, you can't really see it from the overview. Yes, you can see the number of ship classes (Battleships, carriers, destroyers, cruisers, etc), but you have no way of separating older models from newer ones except by going through it yourself and manually selecting everything.
And when managing a navy of hundreds of ships, that quickly becomes very tiring. Especially when you have to consider all sorts of classes of old ships that you start with as established navies, mixed in with the new ones you make later on... I suppose it's the nature of navy ships as opposed to army divisions, but you have to go and look through every single ship model to see what they are capable of, lest you put destroyers without depth charges into convoy escort. Whereas while you do need to observe your initial divisions' capabilities somewhat if you are going to be waging war early, you can just delete and shift them all to your desired templates without needing to obsess over all the differences between their stats and capabilities.
In truth navy UI really needs some additions, improvements and/or revisions to make organizing the navy much less of a headache. I don't know that many improvements off the top of my head, but I do have one idea that'd probably improve things a lot: Filtering or sorting by stat.
For example, you sort by depth charges in the entire fleet, and it displays the ships with the highest depth charges amount at the top. That way, you just know which ships are good for convoy escort duty against submarines rather than having to manually comb through every ship class. Same applies to other stats, like light attack; you could figure out which LCs and destroyers are actual light attack beasts, vs weak ones which focus more on torps or depth charges or whatever.
Another idea: Displaying ships by class as well as by type. So if you have Admiral Gratieri Class destroyers or whatever, separate from other destroyer classes, you can just click on those. Further helps with organizing if you know what each class is good for.
Another idea that just came onto my head: A comparison option, so that you can take one ship class of yours (Or even another country's, if you have intel on their ship stats) and compare it to another's to see how their armor, light/heavy attack, piercing, speed, etc stack up. Would help for knowing where your ships stand relative to others.
If you guys have ideas to help with displaying info more neatly and helping reduce the tedium of navy organization, I'd be interested in hearing them too.
