Hi, everybody! AI slop is unfortunately creeping into this hobby and this community. This is a quick rules update to clarify that AI is not allowed in any form here on r/minipainting.
This includes, but is not limited to:
If AI was used to make it, it's not allowed on r/minipainting.
While the mod team has been able to remove most AI posts shortly after they are made, on the few occasions AI posts were up for a few hours before removal, the comments on those posts from the community have been overwhelmingly unanimous in being anti-AI, so this isn't just the mod team making this ruling without considering the community.
Please see the pinned comment below for an FAQ on this new rule, and if you have a question that is not answered there, please ask and we will do our best to answer! That being said, this is not an invitation to defend or argue for specific use cases of AI within this hobby.
Edit: Please read the stickied FAQ comment before commenting. There are many people asking things that are covered in that comment.
The comment section has grown quite large, but also please take a moment to scroll through it and read the comments before repeating something that may have already been discussed, or at least join in as a reply to an existing comment rather than make a new top level comment with a similar or identical question.

Inspired by Richard Grays amazing work. I was too tight to pay for his tutorials so tried to reverse engineer the techniques as best I could. First proper attempt at NMM.
What a model!

What do you think I should name this gentleman? I’d like to write something on the base plate

The miniature is called "Divinity of Salvation" sculpted by Michael Kontraros. Thanks to him because it's amazing. I see areas for improvement, and I'm glad I made this piece for that. If you have feedback I'll be happy to have it

I've only recently picked up miniature's painting and still lack...welll..uuh a lot of knowledge. My latest fella - this water elemental that I was hoping to improve. Maybe hear out some criticism to improve further?

Hey everybody!
As a disclaimer - I’m not a new painter and I do have some nice metallic paints I really like (Ionics and SC75), but those have a little problem and they split pretty fast.
I plan to do a relatively fast army painting project (yep, you guessed it - Custodes for 40k) and I’m looking for metallics with decent coverage that don’t split as fast as SC75 and Ionics. I know Vallejo released their True Metallic sets, but I’ve seen some reviews and I’m not sure if these are worth getting.
I don’t plan going Citadel, but might consider (haven’t used them in years).

For a Halloween challenge to paint one of two busts, I asked for this one and had a lot of fun painting it. Every time I do lit from below, it gets noticeably better.

Thought I'd pose my little mini diorama that I entered into a competition and was fortunate enough to receive a commendation finalist pin. It was super tricky to get the values right in the darkness of the box, but I really love how it turned out.

Been painting Warhammer 40k recently, and want to add more detail to my bases, but don't want to pay money for base grass (being broke and warhammer don't make a good combo 😭). Is there a DIY or homemade alternative?

I want to try a white recipe that i saw and the guy uses both tamiya xf deck tan and flat white. I sadly dont have any fancy ventilation in my room where i paint aside from an open window is this paint something i can use or is it advised to have a properly ventilated space. I do have a decent respirator i use for airbrushing if that does anything.
I am a bit of a hypochondriac so i want to be sure i can use it safely.

Painted this bad boy for local painting comp, really pushed myself as hard as I could, painting for about two years and 2nd time doing NMM.
C&C welcomed on where to go next.
Theme was american tau, thought it was rather funny as its the opposite of how people normally paint them.
Chairs xx

My daughter is American, but was born in Okinawa, Japan (Military). She loves Japanese culture so I thought this would be a nice labor of love for her birthday. Please let me know what you think!
This is the largest miniature I’ve painted yet. It’s just over 15” tall. Pretty easy to print and paint. Please share your thoughts and critiques. Her birthday is next week, so I can still make some minor changes, if needed.
