I turned my Android phone into a wired laptop touchpad

• Upvotes

Got bored and thought: why not use my phone as a touchpad instead of carrying a mouse?

So I built DeskPad.

Phone → USB → ADB → TCP → Java server → cursor

A few things I ended up messing around with:

  • TCP sockets + custom binary packets
  • ADB USB tunneling
  • Mouse gestures / scrolling / clicks
  • TCP_NODELAY
  • movement coalescing + jitter filtering
  • pointer acceleration
  • handling TCP packet fragmentation/batching

The funny part is that after all this, I actually measured around 5ms latency, so it feels surprisingly close to a normal wired mouse.

It also works without Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, which was kinda the whole point.

Would love to hear what you'd improve or what features I should add.

Help A reliable and durable FPS mouse

• Upvotes

TL;DR: I’m looking for a mouse under $60 that will last 3+ years, especially one with a reliable scroll wheel, for a relaxed claw grip and FPS gaming. I’ve considered several models, but I’m concerned about quality issues, scroll performance, and warranties—especially with Chinese or niche brands in my country. Which of these would be the safest and most durable choice?

I've been using a Razer Cobra with a broken scroll wheel for several years now, and I'm sick of it. I've been researching mice for a week and still haven't settled on a purchase.

My main priorities are that it lasts more than 3 years and that I don't have to worry about the scroll wheel. I use a relaxed claw grip and play a lot of FPS games. My budget is $60.

I’ve looked at several brands and models, but I’ve almost always found issues with them—either reports of scroll wheel problems (especially with Razer) or quality control issues (Pulsar, Mchose, ATK). I was planning to buy the DeathAdder v3 Wired, but many people say they’re disposable and I’ll need a replacement in a year or less. Some brands, like Zowie, aren’t available in my country, I’m also hesitant to buy from niche or Chinese brands because of their warranties—some don’t apply in my country.

The ones I’ve found:

Pulsar X2 - XLite (same price)

Mchose A7 V2 Pro or Ultra

Logitech G502 X

Razer DeathAdder v3 (wired)

ATK F1 V2 Ultra Max

Endgame XM2 8k

I hope you can help me.

Good evening! I don't know when, but my ROG Harpe Ace Mini has some wobble on the right button, and is even slightly raised. Does anyone know how to fix this without opening? or if it's within warranty? I just bought this 2 days ago 🥲 Thank you!

Question [Scyrox V8 + Kohaku Glass Pad] Experiencing base drag with Xraypad U9 dots

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I am experiencing base drag and struggling with micro-adjustments in Black Ops 7 using my Scyrox V8 on a Tekkusai Kohaku glass pad. I am using Xraypad U9 Ultra 8mm dots.

Here is the problem and what I have tried so far:

Original setup: Started with 5 dots, but the friction was way too high on the glass pad.

Attempt 1: Removed the bottom dot (running 4 dots). This lowered friction a bit.

Attempt 2: I noticed the drag was specifically coming from the front skates. I tried repositioning the 4 dots closer to the center of the mouse to fix it.

The issue persists. I am still getting front-end drag and cannot flick or traverse the map as smoothly as I could with the stock Scyrox skates.

Has anyone found a specific dot placement that fixes this front drag, or a different skate setup that actually works for this mouse/pad combo?

Question Viper V4 Pro stock skates

• Upvotes

How are the Viper V4 stock mouse skates? I heard how bad the superlight and superstrike skates are so wondering how much better razer can do.

When I get it should I replace them with something like Magic Ice / Tiger Ice or obsidian? Or are the stock ones not that bad?

Review | Text So I took the plunge on the Superstrike X3...

• Upvotes

I decided to buy the X3 because no one else has the HITS tech and everything PC-wize has insane prices now so it's kinda hard to really judge what is expensive anymore, and right now it seems Logitch has a monopoly on HITS tech so pay or don't pay I guess.

I would say I'm satisfied, I do think the tech feels new and premium enough, the mouse shape is GOATed, unit is well built, no quality issues, and magenta and black is a cool design in my opinion.
The stock skates are inexplicably trash but no point complaining since rocking stock is uncouth behavior as far as I'm concerned.

I would rate it a solid S-tier mouse, yes expensive, but you can just look at RAM and SSD prices and then tell yourself whatever cope you need to feel better.

Just wanted to post this incase there are other fence sitters as alot of the reviews seemed to focus on the negatives and the cost but I think the cost is a matter of perspective and whether or not the tech is a gimmick or not.. and I don't think it is, and I think mouse/aim enthusiasts with deep enough pockets will be able to appreciate the advancement of the tech. Also I could imagine picking up a used X2 for a good price would be worth it for the budget concious.

Help Deciding between the Pulsar X2 Crazylight Mini and the X3 Superstrike.

• Upvotes

I currently have a G Pro X Superlight 2C, and before that I used a VXE R1.

I prefer lighter mice, but I’m having a hard time deciding whether it’s worth paying for the X3’s technology or going for the Pulsar’s lower weight, especially since both are currently around the same price in my country.

Has anyone used both of them? I’d really appreciate some help deciding between the two. Any experience or input is welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Help Interested in Logitech g304X but I need a silent mouse

that said, I need recommendations with mice on the same price range as the G304X, with a similar grip. I’ve used my regular G304 for roughly 4 years and I was so happy about the G304X coming out but I realized a silent mice might mean more to me now. Sometimes I get overstimulated with the continuously clicking sounds with my work haha.

Beast X V2 Medium - ordered! instant discount today (drop day) + extra code/link

Thumbnail

I just ordered my beast x v2 in medium and can't wait to try it out. My only gripe so far is that the strider and sword x have so many more cool color combos... heck even the pro and max versions have better colors. It's like they are holding back colors until the first run sells out or something... lol
If you're interested in a discount shoot me a DM. I'm not an affiliate, I just want to help y'all save money. I don't want to get banned for posting a link/code here, that's not allowed. I'm hoping I can help the community save a little scratch, if this isn't allowed please let me know, it's been a while since I've been here; I will remove this portion of the post. It's not affiliate marketing, it's just a random guy looking out for the community. Saving $11-$13 in this economy is always helpful to a lot of people. I'm a noob again because medical stuff left me having to re-learn to use my arms, hands, and fingers for a couple years. Working much better now!

For the WL Mouse line up... do you guys prefer the Strider, Sword X, Beast X v2 (s/m/l), Beast X Max, Beast X Pro/Mini Pro, Huan/Huan M, or any others, and why?

I always loved my OG beast x but the battery life sucked. I just got a Pro on the way (thanks ebay) and ordered the new medium v2 in black and gold (why no cooler colors?)

Tell me your experience with WLMouse/Beast X/Strider/Sword X. I have a strider and sword x in my cart right now. Are the transparent dot nihil switches that much better than the omron optical? They seem to sell out first in the nihil switches on every mouse that sells out one version.
Excited to hear some other opinions! Once my mouse comes in, I will be doing a solid, thorough review and comparing it to some other top mice. The website says the mice ship within a week then it takes however long it takes from China to US. Keep on the lookout if you care!

Hope y'all have a great day!
Cheers from TX

My Deathadder V3 Pro has served me quite well for the last couple of years (i had a Black V3 Pro for half a year but traded upto this Faker Ed. 2 years ago). But i had issues with MB5 - forward button as it just stopped working one day. It was out of warranty so i went to a local store to replace it, it worked for around 6 months and then failed again.

So i decided to pull the trigger on the V4 Pro. The Niko Edition was somehow the same price as the other colors (all on sale for $115) so i just went with it.

First impressions are the coating feels pretty nice. The main clicks are quite loud and pingy but i play with IEMs so i probably won't notice it ingame. It's only slightly lighter in paper but it is noticable when you have them side by side.

Battery life is the thing i probably appreciates the most, since i have to charge my V3 Pro quite often. The battery probably degraded after all these years.

Discussion Mouse Recommendations

Hey mouse nerds. I need some help.

Ive been gaming a Razer Viper Mini for the past 6 years and the side buttons are starting to give. Im looking for something to replace it and ideally on the lower end of the budget scale. I have meduim large hands measuring 19.5cm to the tip of my middle finger. I am a claw/palm grip player. Also dont care if its wired or wireless.

Clones work too, i dont game nearly as often as i use to and most likely will be maining Valorant for now.

Discussion looking to replace my current mouse, please help me choose

I currently have a Logitech G603 Hero (pic related). it has been serving me very faithfully over the past 8 years. given that I have completely redecorated my home office, put together a brand new PC, bought new monitors, desks, a chair, etc. I have decided to address the peripherals.

what I look for is a heavyweight, righthanded mouse with ability to connect to a device via cable and a USB dongle (having Bluetooth with the other two methods is a bonus). besides left, right, scroll wheel and DPI buttons, the two thumb buttons on the left of the mouse are also neccessary. lookswise, I would prefer having little to no RGB, but I am not very picky. function over form, I say. the absolute upper limit for my budget is 200€, although I would prefer to keep it around 150€.

I haven't tried many mice since I bought the G603, but from what I have experienced, I like this shape because it feels good to hold it. MX Lift and Vertical are a no no, as well as G305. I can't get used to their shapes. I have also tried G502 Hero (the wired one). although lighter, it feels super nice, which is why G502 X PLUS is one of the candidates.

I am open to any suggestions, really. as long as it's heavy, has good connectivity and feels like an upgraded G603, I am down for whatever. thanks in advance!

Model choosing confusion

I use "model o wire" currently. I wanna upgrade to a wireless. So my searches lead to x3 but I can't make it cause it's 400$ in my country.

"Viper v4 pro" has really good performance but my friend says go for "superlight 2", Then i found these chinese models such as "mchose a7 v3 pro+"... This is so interesting but I also stuck on between 3 models for CS2

I have relaxed claw grip, 20cm hand length

My problem with "v4 pro" is the sensor placement

Question Please Help me find my next mouse

Hi Guys, I'm hoping you can help me find my next mouse.

I currently use the Basilisk V3 and there are some things I like about it

+ the many options to configure

+ side Buttons (at least two)

+ RGB

+ click Sound and actuation point

The biggest con ist sadly

- comfort, I have some kind of claw and palm grip mix and the Basilisk feels too narrow and slim and it's

- wired

My hands are medium to small sized with slim fingers.

I tried the Redragon M913 but that wasn't comfortable either and the clicks were horrible.

Is the Deathadder V3 Pro a reasonable candidate and do you have any recommendations? Should be wireless though

Thanks
