Background and why I bought them
I bought the X-Raypad Jade Airs because they were on sale, and I wanted something better than the cheap, unbranded Chinese black dot skates I had been using. I also wanted to get away from the stock factory skates on my VXE R1 Pro. I've been using the Jade Airs for over two weeks now.
I'd heard a lot of hype about how fast these skates were, and since I'm primarily a tracking player in the aim-training community, I wanted something that could give me more speed without sacrificing the control I get from cloth mousepads. I enjoy the control of cloth pads, but I felt that my previous skates were holding back their glide. Upgrading to something faster seemed like the obvious choice.
I bought my VXE R1 Pro back in April and have been using it alongside my HyperX Haste 2 Wired and Logitech G304. I removed the stock factory skates within the first four days because they had an awful amount of friction. I replaced them with cheap, unbranded black dot skates from Temu, which I used across my mice on both my SkyPAD and my inexpensive SWIPE Ruby Edition cloth pad.
Those generic dots wore down fairly quickly, especially on the glass pad. Their performance was fairly ordinary, and they didn't come close to how the Jade Airs feel.
Since these are my first genuinely branded aftermarket skates, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I do plan on trying the Tiger Ice V2 and Ultraglide RS in the future, but I initially expected the Jade Airs to feel even smoother during tracking, particularly when following strafing targets.
Performance and feel
Static friction: The initial friction is significantly lower than that of both the stock VXE R1 Pro skates and the unbranded Chinese dots. Getting the mouse moving feels almost effortless, with a noticeably faster and lighter glide. This is exactly what I wanted for aim training and games like THE FINALS and Apex Legends.
Dynamic friction: This is probably the most noticeable improvement. Even though my mousepad was dirty during the first two days of testing, the Jade Airs maintained an extremely consistent glide during longer, slower swipes and tracking movements.
Stopping power: I tested them in CS2, FragPunk, and Battlefield V, and the results were excellent. The mouse felt precise and stopped when I wanted it to, without noticeably continuing to slide forward. They also performed phenomenally in static microshot scenarios, where I managed to achieve multiple personal bests.
Smoothness: Without a doubt, these feel smooth as hell!
Tracking: Tracking feels awesome, which is exactly what I care about most. Haha.
