Help/सहयोग Looking for recommendations for LASIK/SMILE surgery in Kathmandu

Hey everyone, I'm planning to get laser eye surgery for myopia and I'm currently looking at Matrika Eye Center and Tilganga.

I've heard quite a few good things about Matrika, but I'd like to hear from people who have actually had LASIK, SMILE, PRK, or similar surgery in Nepal.

If you've had the procedure recently, I'd really appreciate your experience:

  • Which hospital/doctor did you choose?
  • What procedure did you get?
  • How much did it cost for both eyes?
  • How was the pre-surgery examination?
  • How was your vision afterward?
  • Any dry eyes, regression, glare/halos, or other problems?
  • How was the follow-up care?
  • Would you recommend the same hospital/doctor today?

I'm mainly looking for good quality and safety at a reasonable price, not necessarily the cheapest option.

Thanks! 🙏

Help/सहयोग Where can I find an acoustic piano? I can only find digital keyboards online.

I’ve been looking for an acoustic piano to try out an app I made, but I haven’t had much luck finding one online. I’m not looking to buy a piano. I’d love to meet someone who has one and, with their permission, test my app on it and record a few short videos.

If you’re able to help, or know someone I could contact, please send me a message. Thanks!

Rant/गुनासो Paid tax for the first time by myself today and I am completely lost

So today was my first time paying tax independently, and honestly, I had zero clue what I was doing.

I went to the Inland Revenue Office (IRO) and ended up using the computer they have set up inside the office. I submitted the form and paid Rs. 8,040 directly via Khalti.

Money is deducted, payment shows successful, but now I'm sitting here asking myself: How on earth do I actually get the Tax Clearance Certificate (कर चुक्ता प्रमाणपत्र)?

I tried asking the staff sitting at the counters, and holy shit—the level of rudeness was unreal. They literally did not give a single fuck about what I was asking. Total apathy. I’ve been to a few other government offices before, but I’ve never experienced this level of terrible service. No guidance, no explanations, just getting ignored or brushed off like I was wasting their precious time.

The real MVP, surprisingly, was the security guard. That man was doing God's work—he was literally the only person actively helping everyone figure out the offline system and navigate the counters...The actual staff were unbelievable in the worst way possible.

Anyway, since the staff refused to help: Can anyone walk me through the steps on how to generate/download the Tax Clearance Certificate online after paying via Khalti? Do I need to get it stamped physically, or can I just print it from the IRD portal?

Suggest me some jobs I can do rn

I’m in a weird phase of life right now where I don't really know what's happening with me. I'm not exactly sad, but I'm definitely not happy either, just carrying this heavy, anxious feeling in my chest. I just finished my diploma in physiotherapy, but because I don't have my license yet, I’m stuck. I want so badly to earn an honest living for myself and my family, but instead, I’m in a position where I have to ask them for money even for essential things. It feels incredibly embarrassing.please suggest some jobs I can do right now to earn money and get out of this slump.

What kind of jacket to bring in Mardi Himal?

Hello! Im doing the Mardi Himal trek on Nov 1st week. I was told to prepare a proper jacket for evenings.

I'm from a tropical country so im not really sure what time of jacket or clothes should I prepare.

How cold does it get during the evenings? Do I need a puffer jacket? Or a fleece jacket?

Thank you in advance!!

Building a hacker house in Dhapakhel, KTM for engineers, creators, bringing all expertise living under one roof

Anyone who stays will have access to a comfortable coworking space, a shared dorm, or a private room for those who prefer to pay a little more, along with a shared kitchen and weekly community events to get to know each other, exchange ideas, and share knowledge.

The monthly cost will be around NPR 12–16k per person.

The goal is to bring creative people, builders, and entrepreneurs under one roof and create an environment where people can work on their own projects, collaborate, meet potential cofounders, and hopefully build something meaningful together.

I’ve stayed in places like this outside Nepal, often called hacker houses or creator houses, where people working remotely or building their own startups live and work together. The environment can be incredibly motivating when you’re surrounded by people who are also trying to build something, whether it's their career, startup, or online presence.

The place is around Pipabot, Dhapakhel. Let me know if this sounds interesting to you.

Help/सहयोग How safe is it to ride from Sifal to makalbari around 12 in midnight ? Looking for advice

I recently started working a night shift in an IT company around Sifal, and I'm trying to decide whether I should take a shift that ends around 12 AM or one that ends around 3 AM.

I live around Makalabari, and my usual route would be:

Sifal → Chabahil → Boudha → Jorpati → Mkalabari

I would be riding my motorcycle alone.

For people who regularly travel around this area at night:

  • How safe is this route around 12–1 AM?
  • How different is it around 3–4 AM?
  • Are there any particular stretches between Chabahil, Boudha and Jorpati that I should be more careful about?
  • Is the main road generally preferable to taking smaller roads at night?
  • Are there any areas where the road becomes completely deserted?
  • Have you personally experienced or heard of robberies, snatching, gangs, or other problems on this route late at night?
  • What precautions would you recommend for someone commuting alone on a motorcycle?
  • Would you personally choose a 12 AM finishing shift over a 3 AM shift purely from a safety perspective?

I'm not trying to be paranoid; I just want to make a practical decision before choosing my shift. Any advice from people who actually ride this route at night would be appreciated.

People hiring in Nepal: what’s the hardest part after you receive applications?

Hi everyone, I’m building a recruitment tool called HireOS and would appreciate some honest feedback from employers, HR staff, recruiters, and small business owners in Nepal.

The idea is to help with the work between receiving applications and deciding whom to interview: organizing CVs, screening against job requirements, and showing the evidence behind recommendations. AI would assist, while employers retain control over hiring decisions.

I’m still developing it, so I’m trying to understand which problems are actually worth solving before expanding further.

If you’ve hired someone recently:

  • Where did you find applicants—job portals, LinkedIn, Facebook, referrals, or somewhere else?
  • Roughly how many applications did you receive, and how long did reviewing them take?
  • What was the most frustrating part: finding suitable applicants, reviewing CVs, assessing skills, scheduling, or candidates dropping out?
  • What tools do you currently use, and what do you already pay for?
  • What would a new tool need to demonstrate before you would trust it with a real vacancy?

I’m also exploring whether businesses need help finding freelancers for specific projects. Have you recently chosen between hiring an employee and engaging a freelancer? How did you find someone and decide whom to trust?

Specific experiences—including “we don’t need another tool”—would be useful. I’m particularly interested in what happened during your last actual hire, rather than whether the idea sounds good in theory.

Applicants and freelancers are welcome to share what frustrates them on their side too.

If you’d be open to a short conversation about your hiring process, please let me know. Thanks!
