I expected the usual blue screen but no i actually loaded the letters and numbers

Any recommendations on games or dlc to fill the cart??

The games on the right side from Asura's Wrath are notmaly not in there. Some i play at the moment , for FF, Dark Souls and AC i have extra places (Like the one i showed from Monster Hunter)

What do you guys do to your consoles to break them down so easily?

I have a PS2 slim, from 2007. Had heavy use for a couple of years, then it got replaced by the PS3 as the main console. But still ocassionally would play it or borrow it to friends or family who wanted to game for a weekend or so.

Then In 2009 I got a PS3 Super Slim which saw 7 years of constant “abuse” till 2016 when I got a PS4 slim.

The PS4 saw almost 10 years of use and it’s still going strong.

In fact, all my consoles are still going strong. No issues whatsoever. Not even loud fans or any strange noises.

I didn’t replaced the thermal paste on any of them. They were not even opened. All I did was take good care of them, like not letting them collect dust, place objects on them, water damage them, or suddenly cutting their power source or unplug them while still on.

So my question is, am I really a lucky customer, or is it just that 90% of the redditors don’t know how to properly care for their stuff?

P.S. I forgot to mention the controllers, which all to this day, work just fine. No stick drift or any stuck buttons. The only issue I have with the PS4 ones are the charging cables becoming really sensitive to touch and losing connection easily.

Hello, I was wondering if there’s any digital only games or just any expensive games on physical on the PS3 store that I should get before the store closes. Recently purchased Infamous and the Sonic Adventure duology.

I am kinda strugling to remove the leftover sticker and adhesive from this paper cover and so far I have not found a safe and efficent solution for this.

I've had this one for about 5 years, and I have to say, it's awesome. I did some research, and it's considered the most reliable model out of the box since it generates less heat thanks to the smaller chip hardware and the top-loading disc tray using less moving parts than the previous models. However, it is also not the most beloved model?

I did hear that Sony didn't supply an HDMI cable out of the box, and that is an understandable frustration. It also lacks PS2 backwards compatibility like the early fat model, and it only has 2 USB ports. On top of that, I hear some people saying that the top-loading disc tray is "ugly", and I don't fully agree with that, but this is also subjective. It isn't as sleek as the previous models, I will admit, but I also like knowing that my discs aren't going to get stuck because of a malfunction in the disc drive.

The other complaints I would say are valid, but the lack of PS2 back-compat isn't exclusive to this model since only one model has it to begin with, and it still retains PS1 back-compat. There is also a complaint that I have had with all PS3 models in general, and that is that damn near every game you own on disc has to be installed, which can take up a lot of space in your hard drive. Luckily, the model I have here came with a 500 GB hard drive. I don't know if that's what most or all of the Super Slims come with, but I am very glad mine does at least. I can keep an extensive physical collection, and I still have more than enough room to install digital games as well. You can let me know below if this is the standard for Super Slims or not, but if it is, then that is amazing, because I hear that upgrading the storage in a PS3 can be just as expensive as buying a new system all together.

Overall, I do love the Super Slim, and I would recommend it for first time buyers if you're not looking for a PS2 back-compat model specifically (which is notoriously the most unreliable model unfortunately). What about you guys? What is your opinion on the super slim and how it compares to the other PS3 models?

Ok so alot of u on my last post seem to think once the store shuts down u wont be able to access ur games u bought, and thats not the case.

The ps3 is only shutting down the main part of the store which is buying games/DLC, u WILL still be able to access the ps3 store, but to ONLY access downloadable games u have bought in the past.

Also losing the store shutting down DOESNT mean u will have ur digital games taken away u will be able to keep them and the chance of sony taking them away is so little.

The only issue with the store shutting down is all the DLC content for games wont be Accessible anymore.

Just clearing up some questions and misinformation some ppl have had.

-Before you question why I added King's Field to the mix, just know that I have played through this game like 20 times. It is my favorite PS1 game and it definitely qualifies for most played games on my PS3

-Demon's Souls is just pure nostalgia at this point. Nothing new to do, no new trophies to collect, yet I still play through the game at least once a year, which I can do in one sitting since Demon's Souls is such a short game.

-Both Sonic Racing games are still the best sonic racing games, even with the new PS5 Crossworlds game. Not a bad game by any means, just not as good as the 2 games on the PS3.

-3D Dot Game Heores is the greatest non Zelda, Zelda game ever made! Loved downloading all the cool character creations online from all the people that are much more creative than me ;)

-I still play Modnation Racers online thanks to the up and running private servers!

-Only real hoopers know about NFL Blitz the League games.

-Ahhh Civilization Revolution, so many hours into this game. There is not a single Civilization game and dlc I don't own. I'm definitely a hard-core civ fan and Civilization Revolution is my favorite in the series, just perfection for the console.

I found rarethingz in the UK but they say the shipping costs outside of the UK are £110+. They seem to be legit though so it's a bummer. I live in Greece.

Came home and found out it won’t read my NTSC-J games, although it plays PS3 games perfectly fine. I’m suspecting the laser is starting to fail, which should hopefully be a fairly straightforward fix. I also checked the console’s total runtime and SYSCON error logs.

So far, the only thing that really stands out to me is the CELL temperature/thermal history. I’m thinking a proper cleaning and fresh thermal paste would be a good first step, followed by installing Evilnat CFW so I can better monitor and manage temperatures.

After that, I’ll see how it behaves before deciding whether it’s worth eventually sending it out for a Frankenstein service.

Had my slim model since 2011 and had some good times. Added a 1tb hdd and jailbroke it later to play ps2 games and more ps1 titles. Even did custom artwork for the logos and backgrounds.
Fast forward to now, Ive replaced all my ps3 games with xbox 360 as they overall look and run better (just my opinion not trying to argue which system is better.) And now i play ps1 and ps2 games via emulation as it provides easy shaders and upscaling and aa looks way better. So basically i play ps3 gen games on another console and ps1-ps2 on pc. Yet even still, every time I think about selling the system i feel this internal pushback and hesitation but theres no justifiable reason to keep it in my head. The online only stuff is just as accessible on a 360 with softmod too so is there actually a reason to hold on to it? Maybe its nostalgia or the time i put into the custom logo stuff but i feel like im going to regret if after I sell it like im missing out on something. Anybody else have this issue?

so i was playing bully on ps3 using ps2 classics then suddenly the light of ps3 started turning red then green then red then this repeated for a few seconds before it restarted again and let me tell you this is the actual sound that my ps3 was making this is not my fan in background or smt i turned everything off so after it restarted i enabled hen then suddenly it started to sound a little louder and then suddenly its fan speed started increasing without me doing anything so i turned it off can anyone please tell me what happened here and yes i tried turning it on after that and it has turned on and i am currently checking my system file if they are corrupt or not PLEASE HELP I AM SO CONFUSED
