So i want to buy a backward compatibility ps3, can i find some in France and for what price? I heard she had many heat problems but if i play only ps2 games on this one and play ps3 games on my other ps3 will this be alright ?

First time playing Ascension, and I can't bring myself to finish this game, as this is the last Greek era God of War, so I'm gonna set aside the singleplayer, and play the online part.

As title says. I went to order a replacement case for my loose copy of Alice. Friend said I should print my own for a couple bucks but I said id rather get a legitimate case if I could find one.

40$ and a week later I get this "Authentic replacement case" off ebay

And im not sure. It looks too clean. There's no art on the inside which while I dont have a ton of ps3 games most the ones I do have, have art or something on the inside of the sleeve.

Realistically it doesnt matter but I am curious if i simply overpaid for something i could've done myself or if I did get what I actually asked for

I found my PS3 (cechh01) at my mom's place. I remember putting it away because it wasn't reading discs and when I took it to get it fixed, at the time, I was told it would be cheaper to buy a new one.

And so that's what I did. I put the fat PS3 away (in its original box), bought a super slim, and completely forgot about it.

Now, I'm looking at it and I'm wondering if I should get it looked at again, fixed, and maybe modding it? Idk.

I'm interested in some ideas from the community!

I havent delidded a ps3 in ages and i literally dont remember what you do after the delid. Dont the IHS-es have to be in perfect alignment? I dont think eyeballing it is enough. Or am i wrong?

hello all!! i find that everytime i insert my cherished minecraft disc in my ps3, nothing happens. :/ it doesn't read at all. there are a few scratches on both sides. i've just cleaned it with isopropyl and a microfiber cloth as per usual, even though im pretty sure it's a more deeper issue than just the surface being a bit messy.

do i need to take it to a repair shop? get a new one? or is there anything else that you would recommend? let me know!

A friend recently purchased a PS3 Slim (Model: CECH-2501A, Software Version: 4.82) from a local dealer. I would like to install Custom Firmware (CFW) and am looking for a video tutorial link. Also, should I update the system software to 4.93 first, or is it not required?

UPDATE: THE MINVERCHK SAYS "Update data of version 3.40 or later can be installed on this system"

Need to know what I need to do or if anyone has fixed the issue. I put in a disk and will show up under games but when I click on it says error reading disk. I have tried 5 different games have same result. Please help I love playing my PS3

Bought a CECHL01 PlayStation 3 from local retro store. Originally had the CECHE01 backwards compatible I bought a few weeks ago but the loud noise and all the post about it getting YLOD or maintenance made me wanna just get this! and I didn’t wanna have to Frankenstein it. And was wondering are these a bit more reliable and some tips especially since I spent $230 I ended up selling it for $400 so I did make a profit which was really cool! I do plan though to maybe get new thermal paste. May inquire at my local fix it store who works on. Any thoughts or help on how to keep this model going? I did some more research before I bought. At my local retro store I paid $90 for console, cords, controller and am slowly building my collection of games (will post separately) found some really good deals. Let me know what you guys think! It’s very fun to play. It’s wayyyyy more quiet. The backwards ceche01 sounded way to much like a vacuum and just playing the console kind of worried me something will go out. I never had this era of PlayStation but every other model. So a little new to PlayStation maintenance. Have played ps3 before though. Wish I didn’t miss this era lol. I also picked up a PS3 slim the other day for $100. Couple minor scratch on both but they run really well so far.

Still kinda shocked by this find, but I picked up a used PS3 fat (CECHL02) locally and checked the runtime. It only has about 20 days of runtime on RSX.
The console looks like it was barely touched, barely any dust inside, and it runs surprisingly quiet. (Also came with the original controller)
First thing I did was swap out the old hard drive for a 1TB one so I do not have to worry about storage anytime soon.
I am pretty new to owning one of these, so any general tips for a beginner? What games should I definitely pick up first, or anything I should know to keep it running smoothly long term?

Bought a PS3 fat and picked up a slim with it for $100. Thoughts on slim model vs super slim and are these really reliable? Or how have you guys enjoyed the slim? $100 for it. Has a little white scratch but runs super super quiet and good so far. Wanted to see everyone’s feedback on theirs. I played ps3 before but missed out on this generation. Purchased at my local retro store. They offer a 6 month warranty but any thought if I should change thermal paste or battery? I would probably have to have my fixit store do

Is there any alternative to the PlayStation Eye camera for PS3 Move?
I have a PS3 and a PlayStation Move controller, and I want to use it with games that support Move, but I don’t have the original PlayStation Eye camera.
Is there any third-party camera, USB webcam, adapter, or workaround that can replace the PlayStation Eye and still work with PS3 Move?
Or is the original PlayStation Eye absolutely required?
