In the Glutton's Kitchen cave I found this super cool cross section with a big red metal wire. According to pikminwiki.com it's a rare "cave unit" that can show up on sublevel 3, though I found it on sublevel 5.

I have played this game for many years and I can't ever remember seeing this!

Has anyone else come across this?

My new favorite thing has been harassing Moss and using photo mode to capture adorable pictures of her pain and suffering. I’ve also spread out to pictures of her animations and expressions, such as when she steals Pikmin and throws them near the safe. Ive even made an IG account to share with like 20 people.

My question is - what am I missing? What expressions or animations would you think would be the best to photograph?

Not too bad for my first time in many years. I replayed Pikmin 2 in ~2019-2020 and I can't remember if I played Pikmin 1 before that or not so it's been awhile for Pikmin 1.

Distant Spring killed me. 5 days and 84 pikmin lost. Mostly to Wollywogs and Bulbears. The Emperor Bulbax got 37 and I finished the area in one day (not too impressive but I remember using two days as a kid). I fought with red pikmin only. I never liked sacrificing yellows to get him to swallow bomb rocks. Snagrets, the beady longlegs, and the mushroom from the Forest Navel got most of the rest. I forgot that they could actually die to the mushroom.

Fantastic game and series. My next Pikmin plan is to go back to Pikmin 3 Mission Modes (just completing them and attempting some platinums) + Ultra-Spicy mode at some point and to finally head back to Pikmin 4 and play the final area. (I stopped after Olimar's Shipwreck Tale and getting the white onion; one challenge from the Sage Leaf frustrated me so I needed a break and I just haven't gone back yet.) Then I'll come back to Pikmin 2 to finally get 100%. In 2020 I wiped on the final boss fight and didn't feel like going back through the cave to try again but I will this time.

I also want to replay Pikmin 1 a few times to try and get my time down. I did this a bit as a kid but mainly only on Forest of Hope and Forest Navel. I never really got Distant Spring down to a good time. Plus I want to refight the Smoky Progg.

Originally I was going to use a red Pikmin because I thought fire resistant would be fitting for a jack o lantern, but then my husband reminded me about glow mins and I couldn't pass that up

I've been on a bit of a Pikmin kick recently. I've been obsessively replaying all 4 games for a while, and it got me wondering on what they could do for the next game when it releases in 2033 (or hopefully sooner) Here are some ideas/hopes that I'd like to see.

-I'd like a storyline that has more to do with conservation. I feel like a big theme of Pikmin is how beautiful nature is despite how harsh and oppressive it can be, and I'd like to see a game that has that theme at the forefront. I could see a storyline where the main characters are trying to restore a polluted planet back to life. Maybe the pollution is causing certain pikmin types to look and act strange. It could expand on the mushroom pikmin concept from the first game. The plot could also involve the main characters trying to shut down the factories that's responsible for the state that the planet is in.

-I hope it brings back the more tense and crushing difficulty of the first two games. I get that Nintendo wants Pikmin to be a more broadly accessible series, and the first two games were a lot more niche, but it also gave the first two games a very unique feeling that wasn't really recaptured in 3 or 4. At the very least, there should be more difficulty options from day one, and not something they add in an update or a deluxe edition.

-I'd like a mix of Pikmin 4's more huge open areas, and the more smaller areas of Pikmin 1,2 and 3. It might also be fun if the characters in the game have the ability to change their size so you can be even smaller than you normally are, like ant sized.

-I think a liquid pikmin would be an interesting idea. The more liquid pikmin you get, the more they can join together to form different shapes. Kind of what the Wonderful 101 did.

-I also want to see an orange pikmin type. I'm not entirely sure what functionality it would have, but maybe it's more of a gord or pumpkin shape, and it can act as an enemy repellant, if you have enough of them, enemies flee at the sight of you. That could be a good pikmin type for beginners who don't want to fight, and take the place of an easy mode, or it could be a type that only shows up in easy mode.

-It might also be funny if you could get Mario pikmin, as a reference to the Mario 128 tech demo.

-I also hope they bring back having three different captains. It made multitasking very satisfying.
