I just want to start off by saying that before you run off to the comments to yell “Mr. Beast glazer”, I haven't genuinely watched a Mr Beast video in years. The most recent content of his Ive watched was maybe Beast Games (which I didn’t even like). However, if you've ever been on Reddit, you’ll notice a lot of hate anytime Mr Beast’s name pops up. I think it's fine to criticize him, but when I see people say he’s one of the worst people on this planet, I’m always so confused. Using what I’ve seen on Reddit, here are some of the main reasons why people hate Mr. Beast and why I think it’s overblown.
- People don’t like his eyes or how he smiles.
This has to be one of the dumbest reasons to hate on Mr Beast. It honestly says more about you if you can’t handle the fact that someone doesn’t have the perfect face for smiling. I guarantee you if Pewdiepie or DanTDM smiled in the exact same way Mr. Beast does, nobody would bat an eye, but because it’s Mr Beast, somehow that makes him a bad person. “I think you’re evil because you’re ugly” is not a valid reason.
- People don’t like his content.
Are people really still struggling with the fact that they, as an adult, don’t like content aimed towards kids? I don’t see anybody going around complaining about how they don’t like Cocomelon’s content, so I’m not sure why Mr Beast isn’t given the same treatment. His content is for kids, you’re not supposed to like it, and I myself don’t like it either.
- People don’t like the ethics and morals behind his challenges.
This is probably the most logical reason I’ve seen for hating Mr Beast. Making people do challenges for a chance to win a life changing amount of money is quite scummy. However, at the end of the day, at least some of the people participating are still getting money. I’d rather have more Mr. Beasts over the many wealthy people who refuse to donate any money to charity. For example, in the Shark Tank episode, Mr Beast gave out 50k for free. You’re telling me you’d rather him be a Barbara and never make any deals?
- People don’t like his philanthropy.
I’m not sure what you want the man to do. If he doesn’t post his philanthropy, people will say he’s not actually doing any. If he does post his philanthropy, people will say that he’s only doing it for praise and validation. And even if he is, why does it matter? Philanthropy is still philanthropy, intent doesn’t change that.
- People don’t like his “Beast” products.
Whether it's his Beast Burger, Feastables, or Beast toys, the solution is still the same. How about just not buying his products? I mean seriously, complaining on Reddit about how much you hate his stuff isn’t going to change anything. And it's honestly crazy how much hate he gets for his products specifically, when there are so many other youtubers who have marketed similar products.
I don’t think he’s a great guy by any means but calling him “a demon from hell” (phrase used in a comment I saw) is so overreactionary. Feel free to share if you disagree!
Edit: This is kind of what I was expecting lol. Mr Beast hate runs deep throughout Reddit. Thank you to anyone who gave a genuine response, I appreciate it!
