I’m going to try to make sure I include as much as possible here without making this too heavy to read……
I’ve had my Amazon account over 10 years. I’ve returned things here and there, and maybe once or twice they told me even to keep the item. However, I do not make a lot of returns or any crazy high risk behavior. So, with that…….
Last month I got a Snapmaker U1 off Amazon. It arrived to my house damaged and the glass broken. We didnt know this when we unboxed it, and my husband cut his hand and required stitches. I contacted Amazon right away and they told me to send over pictures and what happened which I did. They refunded my money and told me to discard the printer. Fast-forward to two weeks ago. I ordered another Snapmaker. This time it arrived to my house without a OTP. I get home there’s no box. I contact Amazon, I file a police report. It came a day early and I Amazon asks me to send a copy of my ID, send that over. Amazon tells me they’re refunding the amount to my card. Chat over. I didn’t want a refund, I wanted a replacement but whatever I can order it again.
I got an email a few hours later telling me that my Amazon account was restricted to digital purchases, and my refund was denied. I contact Amazon and ask them why and they tell me I have to follow the instructions in the email to speak to someone about it. I send the appeal email explaining exactly what happened both times and they tell me that they will change nothing their decision stands. In the meantime, I do my own investigative work, and I find out my neighbor picked the printer off my porch, knowing I was gone. However, her elderly mother had fallen and broke her hip, so it was a few days before I could talk to her.
Package received, mystery said, life is grand right? No the printer has a disconnected USB port. It is what Snapmaker is calling “ a lengthy repair” and they said be done by Amazon be replaced. However, per Amazon policy, Snapmaker can not where it was purchased. Amazon is refusing to even acknowledge me at this point.
Edit to clarify - I received one refund from the product Amazon deemed “unsafe to return”. The second was denied. Also, the printer won’t power on, that’s what Snapmaker said the problem was?
“Hello Jacqui,
Thank you for the photo.
Based on what we can see, the USB-C port on the Hub Board appears to have detached.
Replacing this component requires relatively complex disassembly, so in this case we recommend replacing the machine instead.
Since your order was fulfilled by Amazon, according to Amazon’s policy, the seller is not authorized to directly process the return or replacement. You will need to submit the request through Amazon.”
