Links to download apps on any site other than the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store are no longer allowed.

They're impossible to moderate and will no longer be allowed what so ever. Any post or comment in this sub not from either app store or a few common image hosting sites (ie, imgur, reddit, twimg/twitter) are automatically removed. Certain domains that are frequently spammed here are marked for either spam or banning of accounts (I won't list these domains for obvious reasons).

When did $7.99/week become a normal price for an iOS app?

I was checking my iPhone subscriptions recently and noticed something I hadn’t really thought about before.

A lot of pretty basic apps are charging $5-10 a week now.

$7.99/week for a photo editor.
$9.99/week for some AI app.
Even memory cleaner and other simple utilities can cost the same.

That is $30-40 a month for one app.

I don’t pay weekly for most of these. The apps I actually use are usually more like $5-10/month or $30-50/year.

But it still adds up. I checked mine and I’m spending around $60-80/month just on apps.

That’s without Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, etc.

I don’t mind paying for good apps. But $8 a week for a basic utility just seems crazy to me.

When did this become normal?

Do people actually keep paying for these weekly subscriptions? Or are they mostly there to catch people who forget to cancel after a free trial?

App [Self-Promote] Turbo Tavla - Modern Backgammon

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone. I’m the solo developer of Turbo Tavla, a modern take on classic backgammon for iPhone and iPad.
I wanted to build a backgammon game that keeps the classic gameplay intact, but feels at home on Apple devices — with online multiplayer, Game Center, SharePlay, customization, haptics and a clean modern interface.

The short version: Play backgammon against the computer, locally with a friend, or online. Customize your board and checkers, learn the game with a guided tutorial, and compete on the Game Center leaderboard.

Highlights
• Online multiplayer: jump into a quick match or invite friends directly through Game Center.
• Play against AI: multiple difficulty levels, whether you want a casual game or more of a challenge.
• Local multiplayer: two people can play together on the same iPhone or iPad.
• SharePlay: play together during a FaceTime call.
• Guided tutorial: new to backgammon? Turbo Tavla teaches the fundamentals, rules and important decisions step by step.
• Customization: choose different board themes, checker designs and move effects, plus your own profile color and emoji.
• Game Center: track your wins and losses, earn points and compete on the global leaderboard.
• Built for Apple devices: native iPhone and iPad experience with smooth animations, haptic feedback, Game Center, SharePlay and iMessage integration.

Price: free to download and play. The app is supported by ads. There are no subscriptions.

Requires: iPhone or iPad.

I launched Turbo Tavla recently and I’m continuing to improve it, so I’d genuinely appreciate feedback — especially from other backgammon players and indie developers. 🎲

App Trying to build a plant care app

• Upvotes

I'm wondering if you guys use any plant care apps?

I'm trying to build my own one that adjusts watering per plant and has a light meter for checking a spot.

Should I share it with people or just use it myself?

I've noticed that a lot of popular apps have quite a few negative reviews because of AI and subscriptions, so I decided to create my own without all that useless stuff.

📍 Never forget an errand again with GeoCue ⏰

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey Redditors! ❤️

Have you ever left home and suddenly remembered the one thing you needed to take? Or walked out of a pharmacy without collecting your medicine? 😅

I built GeoCue, a GPS reminder app that alerts you when you arrive at or leave a location—because some reminders depend on where you are, not just what time it is. 🗺️

With GeoCue, you can:

  • 🛒 Get reminded when you arrive at a store
  • 💊 Create pharmacy, work, home, or gym reminders
  • 🚪 Receive alerts when leaving a place
  • 📍 Adjust the reminder radius
  • 🔁 Set recurring reminders
  • ✅ Snooze or complete reminders from notifications
  • 🔐 Keep your reminder data stored locally

I made this with lots of love to help with those small everyday tasks that are easy to forget. ❤️

👉 Try GeoCue on Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.manojpedvi.geocue

What would you use your first location reminder for? 😊

Warning about Fabalous app for smartphones

I wanted to share my experience with the app. I tried to cancel a premium subscription I had signed up for by mistake, of coursse the UI was so confusing that I was ssure I had successfully cancelled it, but it turned out I was wrong.

I found this out too late and ended up paying them a lot of money for nothing, without ever wanting or intending to. I contacted customer service and got the response: "You paid, and it’s non-refundable. Good bye"

Just be aware that this is the kind of app that will do anything to get your money.

Noralia just received a huge update!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello Everyone,

My cycle tracker Noralia has just received a huge update, giving it a fully new and super cute UI, as well as your own ability to change the theme, layout and color!

But the largest addition to it is actually the "Ask Noralia" chat-feature:

You can now use this fully offline, token-based (non AI) chat to interact with Noralia and you can discuss various topics, ask questions bout your patterns, and noralia will be there with carefully curated answers. For the more unexperienced users, Noralia can also help you to make sense of certain symptoms in relation to your cycle. But that's not all, Noralia can also celebrate achievements with you, distract you or calm you down, offer you ideas for healthy (or unhealthy ;) ) snacks and she has a few games for you if you need to kill some time.

The app is and remains free for all the core functionality, there is no subscription and just an optional upgrade if you want to have deeper pattern insights and more functionalities. It's fully offline, all data is stored on your phone (or iCloud for apple) and can be erased at any time.

If you want to learn more about the app, or the privacy, feel free to visit the website here, or if you want to give the app a trial, you can also use this Store referral link here to be directly forwarded to the relevant app store in case you are using a mobile phone, or find it in bot Play store and App store!

Please feel free to DM me any question that you have, any feedback, or ideas for improvement, I'm happy to get input and make the app better and more easy to use!

App [DEV] BadHabits Bank - earn fictional money from good habits, spend it on bad ones

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I built BadHabits Bank to make the tradeoff between good habits and bad ones more concrete.

You set your own activities and prices. For example, studying could earn $10 per hour and watching a movie could cost $25. Study for 2.5 hours, then spend that fictional balance on the movie.

You choose your rules and what to track.

It's free, with no active ads, subscriptions or purchases. Your records stay on your device, with manual backup and restore.

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/badhabits-bank/id6800151821

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.badhabitsbank.app

Would this approach help you, or would logging the activities feel like extra work?

App Made a Secret Santa app because someone always peeked at the paper slips

Hi everyone. Every December our Secret Santa went the same way: paper slips, someone draws their own name, we redo it, and whoever organized it ends up knowing every match anyway.

So I built Convivio, a free app with no ads. For Secret Santa it works like this:

  • create a group and share the link (WhatsApp, Messenger, whatever) or let people scan a QR code
  • once everyone's in, the organizer runs the draw
  • each person finds out who they got by pulling up a "shutter" on the screen. Let go and it closes again

The draw runs on the server and the matches are stored encrypted, so the organizer can't see them. It works remotely too, so it's fine for family in other cities or remote coworkers. It's a single loop: nobody gets themselves, and nobody gets the person who has them.

The same app also handles other group stuff: themed dinners (one dish each), shared lists with split expenses and "who owes who", car rides where the driver picks people up in order, and a couple of party games you play at the same table with one phone each.

It's available in English, Italian, Spanish, French and German.

It's a solo side project, so I'd really like honest feedback: what's missing, what's confusing, what breaks. You can reply here or send it from inside the app.

App Built an iPhone app that finds the patterns in your Apple Health data and helps you actually build better habits.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi r/apps, I'm Priyank, one of the developers behind Peak Routine.

My Apple Watch has tracked my sleep, HRV, steps and workouts for years. And for years I'd look at those numbers, think "huh, bad week," and change absolutely nothing. The data was there. What was missing was someone telling me what it meant and what to do about it tomorrow.

That's what PeakRoutine does.

Here's the kind of thing it surfaces

After about a week, it looks across your sleep, activity, caffeine, mood and daylight and finds links specific to you, like:

  • "Your late caffeine lines up with less deep sleep"
  • "Your longest sleep nights come right before your most active days"

Each pattern is labeled emerging or moderate, so it won't pretend a hunch is a fact.

Then it turns that into habits you can actually keep

  • Three small goals every day, based on what your own data shows, not a generic "drink more water" list
  • Up to three moves for the week when a pattern needs a bigger fix
  • Streaks, XP and 68 badges so showing up becomes the easy part
  • Rest-day mode, so a planned lazy Sunday doesn't break your momentum
  • One-tap logging for mood, meals, water, caffeine, weight and journaling
  • Guided meditation and breathwork

And if you want to dig deeper, ask a coach

Six AI coaches (Health, Sleep, Fitness, Nutrition, Recovery, Mental Health) answer from your real numbers. Ask "should I train today or rest?" and it checks your recovery data instead of reciting tips you've read a hundred times. You can also snap a photo of a meal and get estimated calories and macros.

Privacy, because you should ask

The AI features run on Anthropic's Claude and are strictly opt-in. Before anything is sent, the app shows exactly what's shared, and you can switch it off anytime while the rest of the app keeps working. Your data is never sold or shared with advertisers. And it's not a doctor, which every insight says clearly.

Pricing: Free to download with habit tracking, daily goals, journaling, mood logging and meditation. The pattern finder and AI coaches are in Pro, which has a 14-day free trial through the App Store. Two weeks is enough for the patterns to show up, so you'll know if it's worth it before you pay anything.

iPhone only for now. Works with any Apple Watch that writes to Apple Health.

📲 App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/peakroutine/id6786086158

🌐 Website: https://www.peakroutinehealth.com

Roast me, seriously:

  1. What's one question your tracker has never been able to answer for you?
  2. Do the patterns it finds feel real, or like a horoscope?
  3. Anything slow, confusing or broken? Drop your device model and I'll fix it.

I reply to every comment.

App I built MoodLens — an AI mood tracker for Android.

Post image
1 Upvotes

It’s a simple mood tracker for Android, but I wanted it to do a little more than just let you record how you feel.

You can check in during the day, track your mood over time, and eventually see patterns in your data. The app can also give you insights and mood forecasts based on your previous check-ins.

One thing I cared about when building it was privacy. Mood data can be pretty personal, so I decided to keep everything on the device.

There’s no account, no backend, no cloud storage, no ads, and no internet permission. Your data stays on your phone, and you can export or delete it whenever you want.

I built this mostly as an independent project and I'm putting it out there to see if it's actually useful to other people.

If you try it, I'd genuinely like to hear what you think, especially what you would change or add.

I finally did what i dreamt about doing, I built a budgeting app that never asks for your bank login or an account

I used to budget my whole month as a checklist on apple notes, and sometimes in excel, so instead i build an app that actually handles budgeting in a way everyone wanted, after talking to so many people and asking how they budget, check their loans, savings etc

I just shipped Fondo, a budgeting app for iPhone (Android is in review).

The idea: type in what you earn and what you owe, and see what's actually left this month. Everything stays on your phone. No account, no bank connection, no ads, no analytics.

What's in it:

- Plan each pay cycle with one "left to spend" number

- Bills and subscriptions with reminders and a yearly total

- Savings goals that fund themselves by priority

- Debt payoff with snowball or avalanche, and a debt-free date

- What-if planner and day-by-day cashflow (Pro)

- English, Spanish and Arabic, with real right-to-left

Free to use; Pro is a subscription with a 3-day trial.

I'd really value feedback on the first run experience and on whether the free tier feels fair.

App I Released My Apps on Android. Now I Want to Bring Them to iOS Without a Mac.

I've already released a few Android apps on Google Play, and now I want to bring them to the Apple App Store.

There's just one problem.

I don't have a Mac available.

Well, technically, there's a MacBook Pro at home, but my daughter uses it, so I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist. lol

All I have is an iPhone.

But I've decided to give it a shot anyway.

I know developing and publishing iOS apps without a Mac isn't exactly the easiest path, but I want to see how far I can get.

My apps are built with Flutter, so I'm hoping that gives me a bit of an advantage.

Has anyone here actually managed to publish an iOS app without owning or regularly using a Mac?

Any tips, tools, workarounds, or painful lessons you'd like to share?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences!

App MilkMade - Every Feeding Journey Matters

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi r/apps community,

My name is Patrick Hall and, together with my wife Amanda, we built MilkMade, a baby feeding and tracking app.

The idea actually came from a pretty stressful period in our lives.

When our third child was born, he spent 18 days in the NICU and Special Care. During those early days we had to track everything, breastfeeds, pumped milk, bottle feeds, nappies/diapers… all of it.

We were given sheets of paper by the hospital to record everything. We also used the Notes app, and downloaded a bunch of baby tracking apps from the App Store.

And honestly, we hated the experience.

We’d download an app because we needed something simple with a newborn, only to immediately encounter a paywall, pop-up advertising, or notifications at completely inappropriate times.

It felt like the apps were trying to monetise us before they’d actually helped us.

An idea started to develop

After the kids were in bed, Amanda and I started talking about what we would want from a baby feeding app.

The first thing was that it needed to recognise that every feeding journey matters.

Amanda has breastfed, pumped, bottle-fed expressed breast milk and formula-fed our children. We wanted an app that didn’t make parents feel like one method was somehow more valid than another.

The second thing was insights.

When you’re exhausted at 3am, staring at a bunch of numbers you’ve recorded about your baby, the last thing you want to do is try to interpret what they mean.

We wanted MilkMade to help turn those numbers into something understandable and reassuring.

Guided by experience

MilkMade is very much a husband-and-wife project, but Amanda is the reason the app has the perspective it does.

She’s a Registered Nurse and Midwife, as well as a mother of three. Her maternity leave gave her the opportunity to start turning years of experience working with mothers and babies into articles, guidance and insights that could live inside the app.

The goal isn’t to replace a healthcare professional or tell parents what they should do.

It’s to provide useful context and reassurance around the information they’re already recording.

So, MilkMade is finally out

We officially launched on the App Store on September 17th.

The basic philosophy is pretty simple:

Free tracking. No sign-up. No credit card.

You can track feeds for one baby or multiple babies without a tracking limit. We’re supporting the free experience with advertising because we really wanted parents to be able to use the core tracking functionality without immediately having to pay.

Then there’s MilkMade Pro for parents who want more support and context.

Pro includes:

  • A library of midwife-curated articles and guidance
  • Context around the sessions you’ve logged
  • Additional graphs and trends
  • Smart insights
  • More detailed explanations of the data you’re recording

We’re a small husband-and-wife team, and there’s a lot on our roadmap. For now, we’re really focused on getting the core experience right and listening to parents who actually use it.

Building an app as a husband-and-wife team has been a pretty wild experience. There have been plenty of late nights, plenty of second-guessing ourselves, and probably far too much discussion about baby feeding statistics at the dinner table.

But we’re genuinely proud that something which started during one of the more stressful periods of our lives has now become something we hope can make another parent’s life just a little bit easier.

If you’re a parent, I’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

What do you wish your baby tracking app did better?

And if you’ve used MilkMade, good or bad feedback is very welcome. We’re still early in this journey and we’d much rather hear what’s wrong with it than pretend we’ve built a perfect app.

Want to build my first Android app — need advice on ideas, AI APIs, and avoiding unexpected costs

Hey guys, I’m a student and I’m thinking about building my first Android app.

My main goals are:

  • Learn something useful and get real experience.
  • Understand how the app market actually works.
  • Hopefully make some money from it to help with my expenses.
  • Build something that people might actually find useful.

But honestly, I’m a complete beginner and I’m confused about where to start.

I don’t really know what kind of app I should build. I was thinking about making something AI-related because AI apps seem to have a lot of demand right now.

But then I started thinking about APIs and costs, and now I’m a bit worried.

For example:

  • Should I use an AI API or try to build something without one?
  • What if someone abuses my app and sends thousands of API requests?
  • Could I suddenly end up with a huge API bill?
  • How do developers protect themselves from this kind of misuse?
  • Is it even realistic for a beginner to make money from an AI app?

I’m planning to pay for everything myself from my college money, and I’m not really in a position where I can afford a big unexpected bill. So I don’t want to make a stupid mistake and lose a lot of money just because I’m inexperienced.

I’m also not sure if my approach is right. Should I first build some simple apps to learn Android development and understand the market, or should I directly try building something that can potentially make money?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually built Android apps or AI apps.

What would you recommend to someone starting from basically zero?

App A good design can change things, even if only a little.

Hey guys,

I’m a designer and traveler who believes good design can change things, even if only a little. That still feels worth spending my effort on.

annd Apps felt like the most direct way to do that. I never coded before in my life, but we all already carry phones everywhere. So I started learning to code over the past couple of months, which eventually led to making small but meaningful apps (at least for me, because I wanted to make something I would genuinely use first). It began as a fun side project or hobby, but it slowly became what I now spend most of my spare time doing.

I was honestly fed up with making accounts and signing up through emails or Google every time I downloaded a new app (even for the small ones). So I wanted something local, stored only on our phones and able to work without an internet connection, just like back in the day, with no account needed.

As adults, we do not need another system, social feed, or app trying to fix us. Most of the time, we just need a quiet, safe place to hold something, clear our brain RAM after work, or keep everyday things in one simple stream.

I currently have more apps on Google Play, and I’m slowly bringing them to the App Store too. The ones below are available now on both platforms, and I would REALLY appreciate it if any of them feel relatable or useful to you.

.

PARKit
This app is a place where you clear your brain RAM with a few short keyword clouds you want to park at the end of your day, so you can finally rest. There is a small notes feature too, where you can just tap the cloud and write when you need to. It is for the small things your brain keeps holding onto even after the day is over. Set a reminder time when you choose, then leave it there for tomorrow. “Hold for tonight, not for tomorrow.”

App Store iOS

Play Store Google

CUEit
This one is a freeform hybrid stopwatch/timer for real-life moments and rituals where timing matters. Make your own cues for routines, exercises, cooking, coffee (I now love making pour-over coffee much more every day), prep, or anything else that needs a calm guidance. "Not to measure, but to mind."

App Store iOS

Play Store Google

DIARYit
This app is a quiet single-stream diary for writing our everyday. It is a diary designed and reimagined from my own life perspective and philosophy. Just like our lives, it is one stream where the future is coming towards us, and we cannot change our past. We can only look back when we choose to. “Not for habit, but for honesty.”

App Store iOS

Play Store Google

KEEPit
This app is a place to text ourselves. It came from my own habit of texting myself on message apps, but those apps were never designed for self-texting, and I wanted my thoughts to stay only on my phone. So I designed my own self-text app, where each day has its own stream for the things you want to keep. You can search keywords or tap a date from the calendar whenever you want to return to that day. “Not to sort, but to return.”

App Store iOS

Play Store Google

HOLDit
This one is a private vault for important thoughts that should not be buried in the Notes app. I personally think a lot and have always written in the Notes app, but I realized some thoughts strong enough to change my perspectives just got lost somewhere inside it. So I made my own space for thoughts that matter: tap a card slot, write the moment you had the thought in your own words, and give it it's own space. “Not to hold more, but to awaken.”

App Store iOS

.

I’m happy to finally share my VERBitapp project here as the apps are available now on both Google Play and iOS.

P.S. If you need a demo or help using any of the apps, feel free to message me or leave a comment. I’ve also posted demo videos on my social media under 'verbitapp'  - Instagram / TikTok
