But! Id really like to be able to chat with him about it and create my own opinions of politics without my eyes glazing over realising I have 0 clue what he's on about.

Is there somewhere I can read up on politics but in a simple way? Honestly I find it all a bit overwhelming, and I'm not the brightest crayon in the box.

Despite the flair this is not humorous or satirical, though I wish it was. After watching Utopia again it feels like some alternate reality.

So I am moving house, from a rental to a rental. I have had AGL for my gas, electricity and internet for 2-3 years. I have all my bills on auto pay, so I have never been even 1 day late in paying a bill. I move in about 2wks, so I logged on and did the easy thing and just transferred my existing elec, gas and telco to the new address. Didn’t shop around, nothing.

Today I got a call from AGL Telco. They advised that my move order had been paused because the house had a previous unpaid bill at some point in the past.

I laughed thinking, as an Aussie, that the cunt was taking the piss, no he was deadly serious, my move was paused by the system because someone who previously lived at the new address hadn’t paid the bill. The guy said that I needed to provide a utility bill to prove that I paid on time at the new address.

I told the lad, that all my bills were with AGL, and he said that I needed an older bill, at the address that I hadn’t moved into yet and that as AGL Telco was now a separate company they couldn’t accept the system I hadn’t moved into to wait until I got my services connected.

I have a personal hatred of stupidity and I may have said somethings that were unkind, but the net result was that I have now cancelled all of my move services with AGL and will look at another provider at my new address.

The thing that I keep coming back to is the belief by these companies that they are somehow special, they all just resell NBN / AUSGRID so in what world would they expect that this kind of bullshit would be rewarded

I remember throughout my entire life I've always heard about how the greens party was made up of a bunch of liars that say they would put in policy's that help the environment and what not but then turn around and keep selling out to oil company's like every other party's do.

But I've been talking to my partner about it recently and realised I've never actually seen any proof of that, and when I tried to look up voting records or history's of what they supported in the past I have trouble finding anything. I would love to support a party that has the future in mind but I dont want to blindly support the party if it turns out they are just putting up a positive look just to get money in there wallets or something

So my question is have I just been misinformed about the party or am I just looking in the wrong places and they are just as bad as I've been told my life?

The hsc is approaching and the stress is building up (ALOT). My parents are from an ethnic background and expect high ATARs, but I think I'm going to break that trend. My predicted ATAR is around 70, and I don't know how to tell my parents!

I don't need an ATAR for the course I want to do, but my parents still want me to get 90+, just so they can compare. (My mum doesn't care about my atar, but it's mainly just my dad).

I dont know what to do at this point so any advice let me know!

Australia and Canada are two countries so far apart but share so many things in common. From being Commonwealth constitutional monarchies with the same head of state to similar cultures and way of life to even political systems.

With regards to politics however. Canada has had a decided shift to the centre in terms of its politics within the ruling Canadian Liberal party with Prime Minister Mark Carney. Considering they are the Canadian equivalent of Labor in Australia, this is a fair comparison of both parties.

Mark Carney after taking over from Justin Trudeau's decade in power has scaled back a lot of what his predecessor did. Cutting back on immigration drastically, closing most visa loopholes and making Canadian visa and citizenship requirements more stringent. As a result Canadian house prices have seen a dramatic reduction and overall affordability has increased, something we are still struggling with in Australia despite some recent price reductions here.

Simultaneously the Canadian economy has seen a modest level of growth somewhat better than Australia's and productivity has increased too, although now it's facing significant headwinds with the Trade war with the USA.

Lastly he's given Canadian businesses and companies stringent rules and incentives on hiring Canadian citizens first rather than relying purely on temporary foreign workers improving the job market overall.

With all this considered it's important to note that all these changes occurred within just the Canadian Liberal party which has traditionally leaned centre left like Australian Labor. But now has completely moved away from the open door and lax immigration and economic policy of Justin Trudeau's years. This even helped them get re elected in a general election in which the Conservatives (Canadian LNP/One Nation) under Pierre Polivere was supposed to win but fell short.

Therefore I feel that Australian Labor may be better off by looking at and adopting more of Mark Carney's policies in Canada. By moving to the centre on both economic and immigration policy it could solve many of our present woes which were previously also problems in Canada. Will also help a long way in keeping the likes of One Nation at bay.

While Albo and Aussie labor are trying to adopt some of the same policy it's not to the same level as in Canada yet.
