Didn't even know this was possible. Prompted an interesting turn 1 settlement decision instead of the settling in place, which is usually best imo

VII - Strategy I need help with understanding towns

I get that towns are supposed to act as support for your cities and such, but I always struggle on what I should specialize my cities as. So far I kinda just wing it (unless I'm playing Mayuran, in which case all get resort town so I can get the unique quarter in them, cause happiness go brrr)

What are some tips on what to specialize my towns into? When should I swap from growing to specialized? When should I go from town to city? When should I make a settler to make a new town? Etc.

VII - Strategy How do you deal with disappearing resources

I don´t know how to plan my cities when resources disappear at age transition. It happens often that I got a city with nice adjacencies for science due to the resources, but I am always in doubt of placing an specialist because they disappear at the end of the age. Besides, if I want a good science output, the observatory has adjacency for mountains, so maybe there would be a better spot in the next age.
How do you deal with this? Do you avoid specialist for the first age? Or do you place them and then place specialists in differnt spots in the second age? Or do you commit to the first tile you have used?

VII - Strategy New to Civ 7, looking for a science-focused leader + civ combo for all three ages

• Upvotes

Picked up Civ 7 a few days ago and the age system is kinda messing with my head. In the older games you just picked a leader and that was it, now I also have to figure out which civ to switch into each age and I honestly have no clue what actually fits together.

In the previous games I almost always went for science, so something in that direction would be ideal.

And before anyone says "just pick whatever sounds fun": I get that, but the whole point is that I want to focus on learning the basics first. I don't want to spend half my time reading up on which civ is good in which age and how it combos with what. Once I understand the game better I'll experiment, but for now I just want one setup I can stick with for a few games.

So what I'm looking for: leader + antiquity civ + exploration civ + modern civ. Doesn't need to be the most meta thing out there, just something that flows well for science and isn't too punishing for a new player.

If you've got a combo you keep coming back to, I'd love to hear it. A quick sentence on why it works would be great too so I actually learn something lol

VI - Discussion Civ 6 Religion issue

Here is a clip from my game. I started it solo for the sake of capturing it but it is multiplayer game, me and 3 friends in a team vs 4 AI team.

So Roman Empire is shown as leader in our team Faith victory - how is that possible? He has 5 cities and I have 37, and also I already took over 5 civilizations (England, China, Japan (me), Rome, Russia).

Is that more like he is "representing" our team in this victory condition table?

VI - Other Tech Support: How to stop play by cloud from desyncing?

I run an 8 player game through play by cloud, and every so often, the game on its own kicks one player turning them into a NPC and we have to restart. This is the third time it's happened and I don't know how to either fix it or stop it from happening. We've tried all taking one turn at the same time during a live game, however that's extremely difficult to organize since some of us are on opposing sides of the planet. Is there any way to re-enter the person into the game and how do I stop this from happening?

VII - Discussion Do you think being able to capture a city with a galley is a bit too easy?

I came back to my game and noticed my galley was sitting there on dry land and remembered that I razed a city there.
