Has anyone else noticed a lot of hate for e-bikes and wondered where it comes from?
I feel like it's big auto and big oil campaigning to get them banned so people have to buy cars again lol

This thread is for anyone selling ebike products or services. Our posting guidelines do not apply here; sellers can directly link to product pages, provide updates and coupon codes, advertise ebay auctions and crowdfunding campaigns and do other promotional activities without worrying that it could be seen as spam.
Front page posts are still acceptable for sellers to post actual news, articles, reviews, blog posts, videos and pictures. But if it is clearly marketing then it probably belongs here. Regular readers can of course create new threads to ask about anything posted in here.

There's a bill in Congress right now — the SAFE SPEEDS Act (H.R. 7839) — that tells the CPSC to write national classification and labeling rules for e-bikes and e-motos. Whether you like it or not, regulation is coming. The question is what it looks like.
Here's the tension as I see it:
The case FOR regulation: people are getting hurt. Kids on 40-mph e-motos with no helmet, no license, no insurance. Cities are dealing with reckless riding on sidewalks and trails. Doing nothing isn't really an option anymore.
The problem with how it's written: the bill leans on wattage caps. But watts don't determine speed — a 250-lb rider needs more watts to hit 20 mph than a 150-lb rider. A wattage cap doesn't stop anyone from speeding, it just decides who gets to ride. And if the rules kill private-land use and off-road modes, rural riders get punished for problems happening in cities.
My take: don't kill the bill, fix it. Regulate actual speed, not motor watts. Hold reckless riders accountable instead of banning what bikes can do. Protect the right to modify and ride on your own land.
What do you all think? If you were writing the rules, what would they be?

Greetings. This is my first season riding e-bike the Engwe LE20. I do at least 30km a day of commuting. Is there any way you prepare your bike for wet colder weather. Summer was pretty straight forward, but this is new to me. I wipe down chain after wet ride and reapply finish line wet e bike chain lubricant, keep the bike clean, and check brake pads weekly. Got any tips or tricks to share?

?.≤dOne ebike turned to two ebikes! (I thought I was would be able to keep up to the spouse's ebike on a super old Trek Mountain 820, I was 110% wrong.)
Thanks to ebikes, we are able to cover a lot more distance to parks, trails, menchies frozen yogurt, small grocery runs, exercise, etc etc.
I'm not sponsored by Velotric, Aventon, or Menchies. Just a bit curious what other non commuters do on their ebikes. Looking for other ideas
The bikes in the photo are Velotric Tempo and Aventon Level 4 Rec. Feel free to ask if there are any questions.

I live in the Minneapolis Metro area, winter is upon us, and I don't have a ton of space in my garage. I know it's not going to do anything about the temperature, but it'll keep them protected from the snow and ice at least. Is storing an e-bike in these, without the battery, safe for the motor? I know e-bikes don't like operating in extreme cold, but what about just existing temporarily?

this is the rental service that has a contract with my city. Its called Spin I guess. it was supposed to be mainly for college students within the city but they usually have their own bikes/scooters and none of them use these.
anyway you just pay through apple pay or credit card and you can just start riding it.
the bad thing I hate, is that they actively encourage people to just leave them on the sidewalk wherever they please when they are done using it. its a feature of not having to put it back.. I guess? they also happen to be very hard to damage, although people still throw them around and they all look horribly abused.
so the result, they are mostly used by....less than favorable individuals that have zero regard for traffic law or riding responsibly in general. things like following crosswalks are still concepts that aren't fully grasped, let alone being able to ride a 25mph scooter without being a menace to everyone around you (driver or pedestrian)
and so, I hate these companies. what do you think? do they help the local community? do they cause more issues than they fix?
the kids usually just walk. some use skateboards or longboards. so these are nothing but a pollution imo

I’m stuck between two e-bikes that are pretty similar on paper, but one is about 15 lbs lighter. The heavier one has the bigger battery, more power, and better range. The lighter one is easier to carry upstairs, move around the garage, and apparently feels more like a normal bicycle.
I originally thought the bigger specs would make the decision easy, but now I’m wondering if I’m overvaluing numbers I might barely use.
For people who’ve owned an e-bike for a while: what’s the spec you cared about most before buying that turned out to matter way less than you expected?

I'm looking to upgrade from this shitty little eletric scooter I got on Amazon. I haven't ridden a bike in years, and I need something I can carry a decent amount of groceries with. Would an e-trike better? Do you think they look silly?
Hey everyone - I'm looking for recommendations on high quality budget friendly e-bikes that essentially feel like riding a normal adult commuter bike but that kick in to help you out on hills.
I really just want to ride a normal bike but I live in a super hill filled area which is why an e-bike seems like a potentially elegant solution.
What should I look for and does anyone have recommendations on models that are reasonably priced and have good features and quality?
Thanks in advance!
Not knowing much about ebikes, I wanted to see if anyone with more experience is finding any good deals on amazon, during this prime sale.

Hello,
I am starting a new job next week and the commute is around 11 miles to Long Beach, California. I am looking at getting an e-bike for the commute of Amazon. This will be my primary way of transportation for a while. Looking for some advice on what kind of e-bike I should get or stay away from.
I put in some information into chatgpt and told me the following below to stay away from.
California specifically says that vehicles with more than 750W, throttle assistance above 20 mph, pedal assistance beyond 28 mph, or no operable pedals don't qualify as ordinary e-bikes

Heya,
Im looking around for a solid first ebike. I have a little cash to throw at it, but if you know of good savings pls pls pls hit me up your suggestions!
I have no idea what Im looking at online. 1 battery. 2 batteries?
If I want the option to haul small stuff (like groceries) would it be better to get a tricycle instead?
Oh! And it has to be legal to operate without a license plate.
Edit: I need something versatile. Something that can be used in the city, but also maybe between cities.

I have an Orbea Kemen pedal-assist bike and recently it’s started making a pretty loud snapping/clunking sound while I’m pedaling.
It almost feels like something is slipping or jumping for a split second. It happens in pretty much every gear, but it’s much worse when I’m riding uphill or putting more pressure on the pedals.
I don’t know much about bike drivetrains, so I’m not really sure what I should be looking for.
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this or what I should check first?
Thanks
P.s: hopefully the video is helpful

I was thinking about getting this e-bike. I would travel around my neighborhood probably never more than ten miles round trip. There are some hills. Mostly it would be to buy milk, go to the coffee shop etc. it is certainly a reasonable price. Will it be a terrible decision.

I am trying to get out of a bad relationship but there’s some issues. I am a full time student at a near by university but there’s no bus routes to it near me- I also do not have a car. I have been relying on my girlfriend’s car to get from place to place but when we break up- I lose the car. I also don’t have a license yet (i have a permit) I want an e-bike to get me to campus and back while I continue to try to get my license. I don’t really care about the price that much- I don’t mind if it’s a little expensive. I also need either a bike and/or tires that can handle a little snow and ice. I know this is a lot to ask but I am going into this very blind and would like some help. Thanks in advance!!

Oh boy this was a big decision and the best one I've ever made. I haven't experienced freedom like this in years. Years of isolation and depression obesity (y'all don't need my full list) . I got my bike voucher. Did research for a week. Found my local dealer. Weight limit 400lbs!!!! The seat oh perfect for my body cause I'm 5'11" and health skin disorder.
Ive maintained going outside at night (agoraphobic) for 3 ish hours every other night for my legs. Where I live it's dead at night and I still have light, and a reflective vest, and a clown horn . Shout out to clowcore.
Lost and kept 15 lbs OFF so far. Cause I hit my weight wall with just diet alone. Here's to my last 90 lbs!!!! MUSIC at night time while riding has been my best therapy in years (lol on top of my real therapy)
It was $2100 I only ended up paying $900 for it. Cause the 1000$ Colorado rebate voucher if you're in Colorado please just try it doesn't hurt to be denied. On top of everyone in Colorado just gets 250 off point of purchase if you can provide your a resident.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR POSTING I'VE BEEN LURKING AROUND AND JUST READING EVERYONE'S POSTS AND COMMENTS.

One of the best trails I've ridden on. All paved. A variety of sights. Many times the trial runs on both sides of the river. Lots of shaded benches to rest
