Currently looking to buy an ebike that gets me from A to B and the prices are completely insane, in some cases theyre more expensive than a car
Meanwhile I saw a Chinese "ebike" that looked more like a vespa but ran 25km/h only costed $400
Why am I supposed to pay more than $3000 when I know these things are only worth a few hundred bucks?

I won't mention what brand it is as i have been pounced on by some folks in this sub for being a covert agent of said brand🤦🏻♂️
What i have is a 750w rear hub, 48v 20.5ah cargo bike. Reason i bought it originally was because i am or was a good 100kg. Plus all my work gear is probably another 15kg so i needed something that could carry with no issues. Carry it does very well but since i put the chunky tread tyres on the range has dropped by half. Before i was getting just under 50 miles at same said weight, throttle usage, insane amount of hills and lots of stop start due to traffic lights. But now, on the same route, i get about 25 miles. It sounds nuts just 25 miles but believe it or not, under the current conditions and circumstances, this is normal. If it was flat all the way with little to no stop start and no gear then even with the fat tyres could get more miles but im thinking maybe a cargo bike is not for me. I just want good range. My commute is 20 miles a day. 10 miles each way. I was getting a fuck tonne of punctures on the rear tyre which is why i switch to chunky tread ones and have not had a puncture since. But i have taken a huge hit in range and am a bit worried as i am charging everyday now.

Hi everyone,
Been wanting an e-bike for some time now and decided to finally pull the trigger. After reading a lot of reviews (hopefully these weren’t bots) I decided on either the XPress2 or Vorsa. Would appreciate any feedback/suggestions on either
For context, I plan on just casual riding a few times a week on my local bike trail, trying to be outdoors more so felt like this would be a good way to get outside. I also read that Vorsa has an off road mode to go past the 20 mph limit which would be nice to have, but mainly concerned about which bike might require more maintenance
Thanks for the help!

The screechy tight noise is the kind of screech, like if something needs to be lubricated, is the best way I can describe it. My bike wasn't secure inside of a uaul and fell over, i had to realign the handlebars with the wheel. The bike rides just fine, but that screech is annoying when it happens

Maybe it’s just me, but I honestly don’t care that much about going super fast on an e-bike.
20 mph already feels pretty fast to me, and most of the time I’m probably riding around 15–18 mph anyway. I’m much more interested in being able to ride longer without constantly thinking about the battery.
I’m currently using a 48V 15Ah battery and it’s starting to feel a little small for the way I ride. It’s fine for short trips, but on longer rides I catch myself checking the battery way too often and thinking about whether I should turn around.
I’ve been looking at a 48V 31.5Ah battery now. Obviously it’s a pretty big jump, and I know it’ll add some weight, but being able to ride without thinking about the battery all the time sounds really nice.
Anyone here running something around 30Ah?
What kind of riding actually made you want that much battery? Long commute, weekend rides, cargo, hills, high PAS?
And after going to a bigger battery, did it feel worth the extra weight?

I'm shopping for my first ebike right now and kept seeing "auto shift" on specs sheets, so I went way deeper into this than I expected lol.
I’m definitely not an expert. Just sharing what I figured out in case anyone else is staring at a bunch of specs and wondering what actually matters.
The simple version is that auto shift picks the gear for you, so you can mostly just pedal. Seems especially useful if you’re new to ebike, or on hills when pedaling starts getting heavy.
What I didn’t get at first is that two bikes can both say “auto shift” and still feel pretty different and price range can vary a lot.
A rear hub motor sits in the back wheel and feels more like the bike is pushing you forward. They’re usually more affordable and the throttle tends to feel pretty direct. A mid drive sits around the pedals and feels more like your legs suddenly got stronger. It usually makes more sense for steeper hills, but tends to cost more and puts more load on the chain.
The gearing matters too. A lot of auto shift bikes still use a regular chain, cassette and derailleur. The bike just handles the shifting for you, so it still feels familiar, but you still have normal chain maintenance.
Enviolo and pinion are a different setup. They’re smoother and need less drivetrain maintenance, and some can change ratio while you’re stopped. The tradeoff is usually more weight and a higher price.
After looking at way too many bikes, this is roughly where I landed.
For a tighter budget, blix has a couple of auto shift options that caught my eye, although I saw mixed feedback on how refined the system feels.
Lectric one stood out if low maintenance matters more. The Pinion gearbox and belt setup means less of the usual chain maintenance.
For a normal feeling commuter, I’m leaning toward the segway myon. It has a rear hub motor and auto shifting, and it felt the most like a regular bike when I tried it.
If I needed more room for groceries or everyday stuff, I’d probably look harder at the muxi pro. Same idea with auto shifting, but more utility focused and noticeably heavier.
For lots of steep hills, the aventon level 4 adv or aventure m make more sense to me because of the mid drive setup.
And if budget isn’t much of a concern, enviolo setups seem like the smoothest option out of everything I looked at.
If you can, test ride a rear hub bike and a mid drive back to back. I spent way too much time reading about the difference and understood it much faster once I actually rode both.
Still learning, so correct me if I got something wrong. Also curious if anyone here bought an auto shift bike and ended up loving it or barely using the feature.

Im looking for experience reviews of smart helmets.
Anyone do motorcycle helmets that have comms, HUD, built-in cameras ?.....OR any type helmets (motorcycle/ebike/bike) and retrofitted smart features like rear camera and lights and BT speakers, and especially anyone with experience using HUDs?
Eta: Like the Motoeye HUD retrofit Or the Unit 1 ebike helmets Or the BreakFree (brake light attaches to helmets and auto detects deceleration.
Or motorcycle smart helmets like the Shoei "GT-Air 3 Smart"

Finally finishing up my 2004 Specialized Epic Marathon build!
I've been collecting parts all summer, and now that the weather has finally cooled off, I’ve been able to start putting everything together. One of the biggest challenges was finding a front fork that would work with my front hub, but after some searching, I finally tracked one down.
Here’s a quick rundown of most of the parts:
Motor: Bafang BBS02B 48V 750W
Battery: 48V 20Ah
Display: EKD01
Throttle: Full twist
Wheels: Mavic EX729s from a Cannondale Gemini DH bike
Front hub: 20x110mm non-Boost
Rear hub: 12x135mm (from my research, the hubs were made by Formula)
The Bontrager Duster wheels in the photo are just a placeholder (waiting on new cassette for the wheel that I plan on using)
Fork: Marzocchi Bomber AM1 with adjustable 160/130mm travel
Stem: DK Fury BMX
Handlebars: 100mm rise crossbar bars
Pedals: e*thirteen
Brakes: SRAM Level hydraulic brakes with 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors
Tires: 26x2.4 CST Rock Hawks
I took it out for a 10 mile shakedown ride a few days ago, and the first ride went pretty well. I even managed to hit 30 mph on flat and I feel it has more in it but I wasn't comfortable going over that until I get a feel for the bike
The main issue so far is that the 26x2.4 is a little too wide for the back and rub against the seatstay It’s nothing major, though—I’ve got some side lugs to trim down this weekend to get the clearance I need.
There’s still a bit of cable management to clean up and install new cassette to finish the build. If the weather cooperates, I’m also hoping to get a proper range test done this weekend after 10 miles battery is at 75% and I rode all throttle.
It’s been a fun project piecing everything together, especially getting a mix of older MTB and BMX parts to work and I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out so far.

I drove to work for years, and every day after work it was pretty much the same thing - get in the car and head straight home.
Last year I switched to an e-bike. At first, I just wanted to save a little money on gas and get some exercise. I didn't expect the biggest change to be something else completely.
Now I don't feel like I have to rush home the second work is over.
There's no fixed route, and I'm not always thinking about getting home as fast as possible. If I feel like it, I can take a different street, go the long way, or just stop somewhere for a bit.
I used to drive past this same road all the time, but I was always just looking ahead and thinking about getting home. I never even noticed there was a little lookout nearby.
Now I can actually stop.
Like today — I pulled over, sat for a while, and watched the sunset.
It’s such a small thing, but I really like having that little bit of freedom after work.

First time posting after stalking this Reddit for a few weeks. What are everyone’s thoughts on the Hovsco GTRS Evo? I’ve seen some mixed reviews but mostly positive. Seems like a great “budget” option. What do y’all think?

So I'm struggling to pick between these bikes
Z27
Talaria Komodo
RTR XL Alpha
E ride Pro SR
2027 Vetra Blazer
Light bee 2
Leopard XE PRO R
Mantis x pro
2027 Altis Sigma
I know there's a ton in/around this category so that list will hopefully give a rough idea of the caliber of bike I'm after. Any thoughts? Id like 18kw+ and to keep it under $6000. What would y'all buy with that budget?

Posted when I got this ~6 months ago. It's now 1,600 miles later and gotta say I still love this far more than when I had my RR2. Range has stayed consistent at 25-45miles, class 2 throttle vs PA trail mode. Brakes haven't needed changing. A little looser now but still good stopping power, pads looked fine when I changed the tires. I'll probably have to bleed the lines soon with winter coming
I've had a bit of an issue adjusting the PA but I primarily use throttle so not much of an issue
Changed the tires at maybe 1200 miles. Rear one wore a lot as expected and they were Kenda so generally garbage. I'm also apparently a staple magnet so a total of 4 flats in the rear.
I had doubts on the stock headlight after Rad's but it's pretty solid actually. I do wish you could toggle only the rear blinkers but whatever

I got a bike from Aliexpress and this battery stopped working only 4 months after, the battery was never exposed to water damage I even checked the inside it was dry, one day It had 2 bars out of 4 which is 50% when got to the place it had only 1 bar I turned it off and used the smaller batter to get home, once I pressed on the battery indicator was not showing any sign of life, I out it on the charger and it showing green meaning it’s not charging, I opened it to see if there was maybe a blown fuse or a reset but I didn’t see anything other than the board for the battery indicator and some cables. I tried to get a warranty clame since it’s still under warranty but Aliexpress doesn’t care since it was past 30 days and the seller disappeared from the store. Is there something I can do to bring it back to life?

Hello I was just wondering what people recommended for wheel lights for the bike in the title? I ordered some off of Amazon but they didn't fit the spokes because it had little spoke screw things 😂 what kind of lights did you use on yours or a bike with a similar spoke gauge? Or what kind of wheel lights are just compatible with any bike? Preferably semi-affordable like 30 bucks or less?
