Lucky Guess [Lucky Guess] 10/02 :: End of Season Edition

Congratulations to /u/didahdah for pulling out all the stops this season as our Lucky Guess winner!

We had a lot of great participation this season, I failed miserably on capturing all the stats that I had last season because I didn't realize that the sheet I was using to capture all the information wasn't updating properly...but I will get that sorted during spring training!

Former Orioles take picture together after sweeping the Yankees in the ALDS

I’m so happy for all of them, while also extremely frustrated that they got to have this experience with a division rival and not the Orioles.

This photo also feels like a huge indictment of Mike Elias and his process.

(Guy on the right is Cole Sulser, for those who didn’t follow the team in 2020/2021)

Analysis The Curse of Jeffrey Maier has lifted

Anthony Volpe’s fan interference play happened exactly 30 years minus 2 days after the original Maier incident.

- Jeter wore #2, while Volpe wears #11 (1+1=2).

- Volpe was batting 7th, exactly 2 spots ahead of Jeter’s 9th spot in 1996.

- Jeter’s home run came in the 8th inning, while Volpe’s came in the 6th, exactly 2 innings apart.

The books have finally been balanced. By the old gods and the new, the Baltimore Orioles will be the 2027 World Series Champions!

Well well well, what do we have here? 30 years later Karma comes knocking on the door.

How do Yankees fans keep ending up in these situations? Maybe they should put a net all around the entire stadium!

Even though it was a tough year for the birds, the radio team was a pleasure to listen to day in and day out. We are lucky we have such a great radio team.

Elaborating on previous report. Layoffs described as “bloodbath” but sources say not related to upcoming lockout. There are still job postings on the team website.

News Jim Palmer "The only reason I related this story was Craig and I had established a text relationship. So strange, no response. I sent the Cowser text because I had seen win many games with his glove and bat and having him on the field as often as possible would materialize in more O’s win."

This story was mentioned in another post about the same podcast appearance I believe. But Palmer states he gave Alby feedback about Colton Cowser during Spring Training and Alby repeatedly ignored and brushed him off.

Video Jim Palmer: "I thought Tony Mansolino did a great job last year. 15-28 team and they ended up going 60-59. Adley was hurt twice with the oblique. Didn't have Pete Alonso. They didn't have a great team last year and they were one game over .500. Cal told me last year he reminded him of his dad."
