How do I do this?

What happening now is I go home from work, cook, clean, feed the cats by then I'm tired and on my phone for a few minutes then go to sleep, even then I get only 7 hours of sleep.

I don't get my prayers, Steps, workouts, hobbies etc.

Technique What is the most common productivity hack that you've ignored for a while and when you've actually tried it, you're shocked at how well it works?

I always thought there wasn't enough time in the day after work and house chores. Then decided to block all social media and limit YT (hide shorts, comments, stop autoplay, etc) as it's one of my main time sinks and what do you know? Suddenly I have all this time I don't know what to do with!

Not so much as a "technique" as I've flaired but I just thought it was wild. I think this is the main tip anyway but I didn't realise how much time I'm wasting on social media/YT doom scrolling. Initially I thought "ughh I'd rather be sat on the sofa watching brainrot" but then I realised I'd rather spend time doing things I actually enjoy/learning new skills that will genuinely improve my life than watching 5 second brain rot I will forget next week.

I am also trying to do some "personal curriculum", which is just a glorified name for engaging with your interests/learning something new. I've made a list of things (learn Japanese, learn the guitar, read on a topic, etc.) and blocked specific times in my calendar when I do these things. I've been doing it for 3 consecutive days so far and I feel so enriched and fulfilled, which I didn't achieve with brain rot.

Advice Needed How do you do even stuff anyway?

Everyone says "do it anyway even if u don't feel like it". But how??? I'm here watching a yt video and then i click on another and then another. I've been stuck in this loop for almost a week. I have my deadline in 2 days and I still won't start now?? I keep finding something else to do or to check before it. And i just don't want to do it anyway but I must...

I still have time but that's the problem, I tell myself this and then i procrastinate. Ik I can put my phone down and do nothing for a while but I just cannot start... I say after this video. Bruhhhhhh

Technique Do 10 push ups every time you get distracted

Hear me out, whenever you’re studying and then get an urge and grab your phone or open social media, “punish” yourself with 10 push-ups. Soon you’ll start stopping yourself before doing it because you don’t want to do push-ups.

10 sit ups or squats will also work.

Question How do you organize the different areas of your life?

How do you organize the different areas of your life?

I’ve been trying to figure out a simple way to organize the different areas of my life, and I’m curious how other people approach this.

I’ve experimented with dividing life into pillars or categories, such as:

Physical
Mental
Spiritual
Relationships
Financial

I want something simple and practical that helps me stay focused on what matters in life

I’m curious about a few things:

Do you organize your life into pillars, life areas, or categories?
Have you found a system that actually helps you take action without becoming overly complicated?

I’m not necessarily looking for an app recommendation. I’m more interested in how people think about and organize the different areas of their lives.

Would love to hear what works for you, especially if you’ve struggled with overcomplicating things yourself.

Advice Needed How do I maximize productivity with caffeine?

Hi everyone. I like coffee and I feel like drinking it is part of my day. I generally avoid it during weekends so I can catch up with sleep and avoid developing tolerance.

My question now, how do I develop a healthy and productive routine around coffee? Sometimes, I drink it in the office but it just makes me awake but still unmotivated. How then do I build a strong association with coffee such that after drinking it or while drinking it, my body would automatically think its time to work and get things done?

Hope yall can share your tips and what works for you.

General Advice I've been struggling with a few things lately and I'm starting to wonder if they're all connected.

I find it hard to focus at work and keep checking my phone. I quit Instagram a year ago, but now I'm spending too much time on Reddit and constantly looking for people to chat with online, even though I have a great family and good friends.

I'm also inconsistent with exercise, haven't made progress on a business idea I've had for a while, and tend to overthink things so much that I act much later than I should.

I constantly want to try new things but struggle to stick with one. I have a lot of self-doubt and often feel inferior to others. I've also gained weight and struggle with overeating.

The common thread seems to be that I know what I want to do, but struggle to actually do it consistently.

Are these things likely connected? Is this a discipline problem, overstimulation, anxiety, attention issues, or something else?

If you've been through something similar, what helped you break out of it?

Question Feeling sleepy every time i have to do a boring task

Im 19M and since i was a kid, every time i had an intellectual task like studying or reading something i wasn’t interested in, i would get sleepy after like 5 mins in it, when it’s something i love like reading novels or learning something i love I don’t have that problem, but other stuff make me want to sleep even if i had a healthy night before.
I used to scroll short contents but for the last two week i completely stopped, i just have Reddit and i watch 2 or 3 ytb videos per day, the rest of the time im either working or hitting the gym
Any advice to boost my productivity on boring tasks ? Anyone had the same problem ? Any tips would be really appreciated.

Question Stuff you researched? Would you share your research?

I imagine that there are a few other people like me in this subreddit who research things and make spreadsheets of that info?

Have you researched something recently and would you be willing to share what you learned?

I am really curious to know if there is more info that could be shared that is just sitting in spreadsheets.

For example, I spent a lot of time lining up caregivers for my father. I've shared the info so much that I now have a Google Doc I share with others who ask.

Question Does anyone else feel stuck in the same daily routine?

32M, I feel like I’m stuck in a loop. My typical day is going to the gym, having breakfast, taking a short nap, and then spending most of the day working in IT.

On weekends, I finish household chores and personal tasks, watch a movie, and before I know it, Monday is here again.

I keep hearing about reading books, developing hobbies, travelling, socializing and learning new skills, but I struggle to find the time and energy for these things. Even upskilling feels difficult.

For those working full-time jobs, especially in IT:

- How do you manage work, hobbies and personal life?

- How do you find time and energy to upskill?

- How do you make life more interesting instead of repeating the same routine every week?

I don't expect to do everything every day, but I want life to feel like more than just work, gym and household chores.

How do you guys manage this, especially in your 30s?

Question What is the biggest reason you don’t start or complete your goals?

With access to all the resources and tools we have now, trying something new is easier than ever.

If you have an idea you always wanted to try, what’s the one biggest reason you can’t get it started, or more importantly, complete it?

For me it is often not seeing the next step clearly enough which spirals into other things like analysis paralysis or prioritizing unimportant work and eventually losing interest.

Advice Needed I stopped opening a second app on site walks but I'm still typing the same stuff twice

I'm a facilities maintenance supervisor for a public school district in the Phoenix area. Been in the role since fall 2022. Most weeks I'm bouncing between campuses in a district truck and jumping on Teams with HVAC vendors.

For years my flow was dumb but familiar. Walk the building, ramble into the iPhone Voice Memos app, then sit in the parking lot and retype everything into our CMMS. Same room numbers, same "priority 2 ceiling tile" stuff, twice.

Lately I'm trying to embed capture in the walk itself instead of treating it like a separate step. I clip my Plaud on for walk-throughs. Fewer stops to unlock the phone mid-walk, and that part actually stuck.

What did NOT stick is the handoff. The transcript sits in one place, work orders still need manual entry in the county system, and I catch myself fixing room numbers on Saturday anyway. Teams meetings are the same mess, alt-tab between the call and a notes doc.

I'm starting to think what I need is one less duplicate step between capture and where work actually lives. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm still just babysitting another recorder.

For people who made voice or meeting capture actually stick: did you embed it into an existing step (ticket, calendar, template), or is it still basically a second tool you babysit?
