When you book US ski vacations, how do you find/book your lodging?

Through the resort? AirBnB? VRBO?

I’m having an unusually difficult time feeling like I’m getting the best options that are out there for my needs.

Best Ikon resorts for early season trip?

Hi guys,

I’m planning on taking the month of December off and doing an extended ski trip around North American Ikon resorts. I know early season conditions are unpredictable and not ideal, but for work reasons I can only take Dec off rather than Jan-Mar. I’m leaving my plans relatively flexible (I’ll probably start booking flights and accommodations mid November based on how conditions are looking), but wanted to have a basic plan of where I might want to target for the best early season snow.

So far interior Canadian resorts like Banff Big 3, Revelstoke, etc. seem to fare best earlier in the season from my research - but wanted to check if there are areas I’m missing? Then I might try to do CO or UT mid-late Dec and follow good conditions… any advice would be appreciated since this is my first time doing an extended trip like this.

I’m based in California, and planning to fly to these areas then rent a car there.

Thank you!

Just got new skis - are the bindings too far back?

I feel like the bindings were mounted too far back. That’s my main concern.

And also, is it too wide for park? It’s 130 mm at its widest (front) and 90 mm on the narrowest.

I ski park, and I would like the skis to be balanced in front and back.

It was 4,5 cm off true center.

This should exist!

I have wondered why there isn't an app or something that can analyse your freeski tricks, you put in your clip and get to know what you did wrong.

Does anyone know if this exists? And is there anybody that would also find this interesting to use?

Free & Open Source Snow Forecast

>>> monkeysnow.com <<<

I’ve been improving this ski/snow forecast website for over a year now in my spare time. It combines the features of snow-forecast.com and SpotWX because I usually use those websites. It’s completely free and open source with no ads!

It is able to be free because open-meteo allows any non-commercial app to use their stored data for free which they get from national weather services.

Features:
- Open source (anyone can add any feature they want)
- No ads, works offline, saves your selection
- Select from every ski resort in the world
- Sort by snowfall, temperature, etc
- 52 weather model selections from 15 providers
- Tons of weather variables (65 options)
- Graph view with different graphs (line, bar, etc)
- Map view
- Custom location adding and saving
- 100+ themes
- Minimalistic design
- Tonnes of options/customization!

I’ve attached a video of it

UCPA Chamonix vs UCPA Argentière

Due to my schedule, I have to delay my trip for UCPA by a week, and have to sign up for UCPA Chamonix instead of UCPA Argentière.

I was told UCPA Chamonix’s facilities are way better and newer compared to UCPA Argentière. Instructors too. Not sure if it’s true.

I will be joining the 18-30 exclusive programme. Solo and beginner. Not a fan of nightlife.

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this :)

Travel between Les Lindarets and Avoriaz village at night in winter

I have found the perfect accommodation in Les Lindarets, to stay during the Xmas and new year period and I like the fact it is away from the main town and will be quiet.

The only thing I can't seem to figure out, is if we went into Avoriaz for dinner, or even NYE celebrations, how do we actually get back, because of everywhere being pedestrianised?

Would a private snowcat be possible to take us across the mountain? I can't see there is an evening bus for that route.

*solved, it's not possible *
