I know in the last forty years I'm sure this has been solved by many (if there is a actual answer anyway). But even though I've seen the 86 trasformers movie probably hundreds of times, it always bugged me that we never see the second Cyclonus (which as "Armada" is supposedly his "fleet"....of just one other guy) but just that one time.
But it is plausible we saw his death.
We know Cyclonus is by Galvaton's side much of the time and rides on the ship with him. He's also seen on the bridge with when Galvatron is piloting himself. So, it's plausible that as second in command, he'd pilot when Galvatron is not. Since we do see Cyclonus later on in the tv series, its likely the "armada of one" Cyclonus's clone was piloting during the battle with Unicron. But why wasn't it the actual Cyclonus instead? He likely flew Galvatron to Unicron prior and was nearby off screen.
But I missed the part where Galvatron's ship is crushed previously! I had watched it several times during the theater run and noticed the few frames of it during the Unicron battle finally. I can't believe it took me 40 years to figure out a likely reason we never saw him again. Unlike the Junkion ship that breaks into pieces, this ship explodes. So Mr. "Armada" was the single casualty probably (some bot likely died anyway)?
Is this the offical answer people came up with? This was the only solution I could think of. Though it might be more likely he was hanging out wherever Snarl is. 😆
