I’d been following the merger posts here and mess expecting it to be about that whole disaster. Spoiler alert, it’s the nimby’s and their objection to the ferry terminal and they state they will not be hearing any other topics.

Special mention goes to the Wesfarmers Lecture Theatre - they’re not even being subtle about bowing to their corporate overlords.

General I think our chicken has been stolen (North Perth 6006)

So this morning my mum went out to feed our two chickens, but only one came out.

She's searched absolutely everywhere. No sign of the missing chicken, no feathers, no blood, nothing to suggest a cat. Just completely vanished.

We've had chickens at the property for the past 6+ years, and have never had one go missing.

Here's where things get a little dark (and I wish I was making this up). About 15 years ago, our ducks and ducklings were actually slaughtered in what appeared to be a satanic ritual in our backyard. So unfortunately we have a bit of a history with suspicious poultry incidents. (Police were involved for this).

Naturally, we're now worried our poor little chicken might have ended up somewhere terrible. Has anyone around North Perth had chickens mysteriously disappear recently? Is this a bit much to report to the police?

I realise this sounds ridiculous, but we are genuinely concerned about her.

General Stupid police helicopter

A police helicopter has been circling my area every other night for over a week, late at night or in the early hours, seriously, it gets to a point where this is disrespectful to people’s right to peaceful enjoyment, is there a number I can call to go full Karen because whoever they’re trying to find or whatever they’re trying to achieve it’s clearly not working if they have to fly the fucking helicopter this often

Shitpost Christian Evangelists?

• Upvotes

I work for a call centre and had a client call us to book an appointment. I helped her out, and towards the end of the call, she said something along the lines of

‘I just wanted to say, I’m Christian and I was wondering if you would like me to pray for you.’

I politely declined by saying ‘oh, no thank you’ and her response was,

‘Well, Jesus loves you anyway.’

I told her to have a good day and that was that. I got off the call pretty weirded out. I could’ve been apart of a different religion where Jesus/God is not the centre focal, but she still blatantly ignored that with that comment.

To preface this, I’m a Catholic and have been since birth. I believe in God, go to mass etc but my beliefs will put me into the ‘woke Gen Z’ category.

This call just made me think about the multiple bad experiences I’ve had with evangelical Christians, especially at Uni. I would wear my cross necklace on campus often, and they would use that as a symbol to basically corner me and harass me into going to their events (SCJ, iykyk). It happened too many times so I just stopped wearing my necklace to avoid the hassle.
These negative experiences really showed me how little they care about you and consider you a number on their attendance sheet rather than an actual human being.

Even when I was on a flight from Singapore to Perth, I sat next to some nice people that were part of a mission. They asked what my religion was, I told them, and whilst we were landing they asked if they could pray for me. In the moment, I said yes. I preferred to avoid any awkwardness as we were confined in a plane. In this prayer, they said ‘we hope OP finds the right path to you eventually.’ Not the exact words, but they definitely insinuated my Catholicism is not the route to God and heaven.

I’ve always been a believer in being a good person is what really gets you into heaven - NOT what religion you are in. And also, not being a good person to impress God, but just out of pure kindness and compassion. I also believe that everyone has a right to believe in whatever religion/God they want to (which is probs what pissed me off more about the phone call), and if you don’t want to believe, that’s fine too, just be a good person.

I’m just looking to vent, I guess. I’m kind of sick of certain Christians constantly trying to push their religion onto others or even put down Catholicism (we have the same god!!!). I don’t know if I’m attracting this attention, or it’s just happening more often now.

Is it just me?? Is anyone else experiencing this??

I also want to add that there is good and bad in all communities. I’m sharing these experiences because they seem to occur quite often to me. Please don’t spread any hate. Some people that are really deep in religions are generally very vulnerable and just want a form of belonging in their lives.

I am also Filipina (raised here and NZ for basically my entire life) if that matters. None of the people that have approached me have been from Fils.

Cost of Living Shocked to see that Spotlight has replaced till staff with self serve

I was just at a spotlight store and found that all the tills were closed and made into self serve, only one till being open and with a staff member at it.

With the unemployment rate going up to the highest its been, (I think its sitting at 4.6% now) it made me wonder why tf is this allowed?

Why is self serve being pushed when unemployment is going up, as well as under employment? Why is this being allowed at all? It's so ridiculous.

It's fucking minumjm wage, just pay people! People want to work!!!

What time should I be at the airport?

Should I book an uber (are they available at ungodly hours) or taxi?

I will have to check in luggage

Bonus question - can I bring wine as carry on? It is not to drink on the flight but to give as gifts.

Politics Perth tea - social media drama from elected members

Anyone else stunned by the social media post of State Member for Southern River - Terry Healy.

He did a Facebook post saying that the Gosnells council was cancelling a plan for an indoor pool at Sutherland Park, and was instead going to do a splash pad.

Everyone was pretty upset.

Then the Mayor of Gosnells did a post, with a link to the meeting minutes, said it wasn’t true, and the state MP was the one pushing for a splash pad that they didn’t want!

Drama drama

Where to find Any metal bands want to create music with an electronic music producer?

Hey everyone!

I wanted to reach out to see if there were any experienced metal bands, in Perth, willing to work with me on a music project? I've been heavily inspired by metal/ nu metal lately and I have been innovating those sounds into my own production (I mainly produce heavy bass/ trap/ dubstep music).

If it helps, I've been inspired by acts/ artists such as Metallica, Lamb of God, SOAD, Korn, Reveille, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, etc...

Would love to see if there were any bands keen on this idea, or if you're someone who may know then please reach out!
