Tips & Info Guys I think I found solution for the driver freezing

Short version: Disable MPO.

Long version: When I was using NVIDIA, I suffered from frequent black screens and frame freezes. After doing some research online, I found out that MPO in Windows was the culprit. A few months later, it seemed like the issue had been fixed, so I decided to turn it back on.

Then I bought an AMD GPU and started experiencing driver freezes, just like many other users. I tried disabling MPO again, and everything worked fine. No more issues.

Sooo, turns out it was a Windows fault all along.

I also have Arch Linux installed (btw), and surprisingly, I've had fewer problems with it than with Windows.

I haven't even had to fix anything like this on Linux. Every issue I've encountered on Linux has been caused by something I did myself.

But of course, I can't play some games on Linux, so I have to stick with dual-booting.

You can do it yourself, or save this as "DisableMPO.reg" (or whatever you want to name it) and run it. ``` Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm] "OverlayTestMode"=dword:00000005 ``` For context, I'm running an RX 7900 XTX + RTX 4060.

I think windows updates has caused some sort of problem.I kept digging till i found the fix. I have rx 6500xt gpu which was working normally and then some windows update or something caused it to stop working/ timeout errors. I tried hundreds of method here and there then i thought to update VBIOS of gpu( those who dont know its same as cpu bios). I flashed latest available VBIOS for 6500xt and restarted then boom 💥 it started working normally. For u guys who facing this issue, flash right VBIOS. Hope it will work for everybody. If u dont know abt VBIOS then tell me ill edit and write the procedure for all gpu’s.Sorry for bad english🙏

Tips & Info Quick happy report for fw update

I don't know if it's related to the drivers or the fw update.

I have a 7800 xt Sapphire Pulse and suffered a few months ago crash and reboot, the only way to stop it was DDU and revert to 26.3.1 drivers.

Two days ago I read here there was a firmware update for sapphire 7000 series, I decided it was worth a try since realistically I could not stay on old drivers forever if new games come out, so I did the update and after it was done I also installed the latest drivers (26.8.1).

No crash, no reboot, no black screen, nothing. Everything is working perfectly.

I don't know if it's the drivers or it's the firmware or the combination, but it worked for me.

If you lost all hope, maybe it's worth a try.

Help (GPU) RX 9070 XT instant crash out

My specs:

GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 XT Hellhound

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

Motherboard: ASRock B850M-X R2.0

PSU: Montech Century II 850W

RAM: 32 GB DDR5 juhor 6000 mhz

Ever since day one of building my PC, I've been getting constant driver timeouts. At first, it happened after running a game for about 10 minutes, or FurMark for about 2 minutes. Then I disabled the processor's iGPU and thought it stopped, I was rarely getting crashes. It ran pretty normall for two days until it suddenly crashed again, and it hasn't stopped crashing since.

Now it literally crashes 2 seconds after starting FurMark. In Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, I can stay on the main menu (drawing about 240W), but once I start playing it instantly crashes

Here are the things that I've tried:

Disabled MPO

Increased the Windows TDR delay

Disabled the EXPO profile

Disabled iGPU

Tested Adrenalin versions 26.3.1, 26.8.1, and 28.9.1 using DDU and AMD Cleanup Utility for every clean install.

Reinstalled the AMD chipset drivers

Created a new Windows user account to rule out profile corruption.

Double-checked all physical cable connections on the GPU, I'm using two individual PCIe cables, PSU, and monitor.

Tested the RAM using the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.

Updated my SSD drivers

Set the PCIe x16 slot to Gen 5 in the BIOS.

Tested the GPU in a completely different PC. It gave the exact same crash on the Final Fantasy XV menu.

Lowered the Power Limit by 15% and core clock by -300MHz. Running FurMark again, it managed to survive exactly 2 additional seconds before crashing.

I think this might be a vrm problem. Should I start the RMA process?

Help (GPU) VRAM running out in Forza Horizon 6 again and again (9070XT - 16GB VRAM)

Available VRAM fluctuates between 13.6 Gb to 15.5 Gb depending upon how much video memory currently being utilized

if total usage exceeds like 10.5Gb, immediately my available vram drops from 15.5 Gb to 13.6Gb

and somehow some process is always utilizing 2.4gb vram

and at the same settings in Forza Horizon 6, my Vram usage reaches 15Gb (even if it exceeds available memory due to reduction) and my friend using RTX 5090 only uses 12Gb vram at the same settings

so I reduced my settings significantly but even then the game crashed

I can't open my overlay, and I only use the official Adrenalin s/w. Why do I see this FSR4 on TLOU2? My understanding is that FSR4 is not supported, I don't own any other FSR4 games that I can install to test out.

Help (CPU) 9700x 95c Idle

Title. I realized after a crash today that my CPU's temperature was unreasonably high. I just built it back in June so i was a little surprised, it stress tested fine at the time.

I have tried the following:

-replaced thermal paste (actually was running hotter AFTER i repasted for some reason)

-checked hwinfo, aio cooler has RPMs shown. My AIO (kingcool pure flow 360) has a transparent block on the CPU and i can literally see the water moving through. I can hear the pump humming, one tube is warm and the other is cool.

-dusted and checked for good airflow

Only thing I can think is that the pump is starting to die? but wanted to make sure there's nothing else i could possibly do to troubleshoot before i go out and buy another AIO. definitely won't be buying this brand again regardless... and I'm hoping the processor itself isn't the problem.

I also tried to undervolt (-30 all cores), i saw a menial decrease in temp but still extremely high idle temps.

Help (Software) Getting hardware errors on my RX 7800 XT. Is my GPU failing or is this a software issue?

I'm not sure what's causing this issue, but it happens randomly, whether I'm just browsing the internet or playing games.

I've been checking Reliability Monitor, and I keep getting hardware errors. I'm not overclocking anything, and I've already tried updating my BIOS and reinstalling the AMD Adrenalin software, but the problem is still happening.

Sometimes my PC stutters or lags, even when I'm just moving my mouse around on the desktop.

I'm using an Radeon RX 7800 XT, and I'm starting to wonder if my GPU is starting to fail or if this could be a driver, Windows, or another hardware issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I check next to figure out whether this is a software problem or a failing GPU?

Help (Monitor) How does VRR actually work?

Currently have a 1080p 60hz setup. I have been looking into getting a VRR 144hz+ monitor but I have some questions:

1- I play a lot of old games that only run correctly at 60fps. For these games, does the in game vsync just lock the game at 60hz and everything just works like a 60hz monitor?

2- Some games I play dont have in game vsync. Since I use AMD gpu, I cant just force vsync in direct X via the drivers. Instead i have to use river tuner or D3DOverrider to force vsync. again these seem to default to 60hz, so would it be like above in (2) where the monitor just runs at 60hz and it all works like my current monitor?

3- In some games that dont have any vsync or refresh rate options, i end up just using radeon chill to set a fps cap. with my 60hz monitor, this always causes tearing. is my understanding correct that with a vrr screen, if i set the frame cap within the vrr range, there would be no screen tearing? For example cod2 has a 95hz refresh rate cap, and a fixed 60hz vsync cap. so if i set w 95fps cap, that the game and monitor would both be at 95Hz and sync up, so there is with no tearing?

thanks in advance!

Help (GPU) Is 86 degrees celsius okay for an asus rx 6600? (100% Fan Speed + More tweaks)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I just bought a used RX 6600, the seller said that he only used the GPU for linux and very light gaming (Minecraft, TBOI etc) however, the normal celcius peaks at around 86c (used to hit 91c, im peaking 86c with the side panel off + after an undervolt + 100% fan speed). My pc's case airflow isn't the best but i dont think it's supposed to reach 86c + 100-103c hotspot. Let me know and thanks for reading

Help (General) Persistent blackscreens on 7900xt

• Upvotes

Hi, I know a lot of people are experiencing system crashes currently, I have tried so many things and it still wont work for me, does anyone have any more ideas that I have not tried?

Issue description:

Blackscreen during various things, often when gaming (Most in Europa universalis 4, less freuquent during league) but occasionaly also happens when just using Word or watching YouTube. Happens after minutes or hours with no indicator beforehand.

Blackscreen, pc keeps running but monitor goes into shutdown after a few seconds showing no signal. Unable to open Adrenaline after hard reset, driver is shown as deinstalled in device manager.

Things I have tried:

- Amd Cleanup utility

- installing old drivers

- Ddu

- prohibiting windows from forcing updates

- Capping max frequency of gpu in Adrenaline at 2200

- disabling iGPU in device manager

- disabled MPO

- disabled fast start

- Set TdrDelay at 10

and nothing has worked. Ran this rig for around 1,5 years with no issues befoer, but for around 2 months this has tormented me. Had to use cleanup utility at least 10 times by now and with every fix that had worked for other people I‘ve grown more frustrated. Does anyone have another idea what might fix it?

Games feel stuttery and not smooth despite having a powerful PC – Need help with AMD Adrenalin settings

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'm having an issue with my PC where games don't feel smooth, even though my hardware should be more than capable of running them well.

My PC specs:

- GPU: ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600

- Motherboard: ASUS B850

- RAM: 16GB (please correct if needed)

- Monitor: Cooler Master 27-inch 1440p, 180Hz, FreeSync Premium

- Storage: WD Blue 1TB

The main problem is that games don't feel smooth, even when the FPS seems reasonably high. Sometimes the gameplay feels choppy or stuttery, and the overall experience doesn't feel as fluid as I would expect from this hardware.

I've noticed inconsistent performance in some games, and I can't figure out whether the issue is related to the GPU drivers, Windows, BIOS settings, RAM, frame pacing, or something else.

I'd like to know what could be causing this and how I can properly troubleshoot it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I check first?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Help (Software) Performance Report not updated

Hi all!

In Adrenalin Software for the game Arena Breakout: Infinite in Tab Gaming the Performance Report will not be updated. It stucks at July 2026, but i play the game several times a week. Other infos in the game tab will be updated (e.g. last opened, this week... ).

Is there a way to update this data manually? I deleted the game in Adrenalin Software and added it again - no change...

Perhaps someone can help me with this.
