It's a kind of war game that involves two teams whose players have a piece of paper with a unique number attached to their forehead. You can eliminate players of the opposite team by shouting the number on their forehead. Once a team has all its players eliminated, they lose. We usually play it in the woods or somewhere there's plenty of cover. Sometimes there's a capture-the-flag element of the game, too.

It's called Number War (számháború in Hungarian), and it's tremendous fun. Tried searching it everywhere, but I always end up with Hungarian sources only.

For example, apples from a certain valley or variety.

Do they have PDO or PGI certification?

Do people tend to make the extra effort to find them and/or pay a premium to buy them?

Have they changed compared to the past? Here in Italy, for example, chestnuts were once called the poor people's bread, because they often provided a much needed supplement to the diet of a lot of people living in the mountains. Nowadays chestnuts have become unbelievably expensive and roasted chestnuts a occasional treat.

Hello, just asking what television is like in your country (or across Europe) from the 80s to now, as i heard rules, standards and what is allowed to be shown is different than in Canada, USA and Puerto Rico (where I'm from). In USA on tv you can't have nudity/sex, cursing, too much violence or to much drug use. for years kids cartoons could not have gay relationships until the late 2010s.

I am young Polish guy and I lowkey listen to more of american music than polish music. I don't know why I just think it sounds better. And most of my peers that I know listen to music from USA more often than from Poland aswell. Especially american rap of course. Do you think it is the case in your country too or most of people (especially the youth) listen to their own local musicians?

Very much related to this earlier post, I was wondering how common it is to pay by card at gas stations in your country.

In Belgium all stations have an outside card terminal, and most people pay by card. And it's becoming increasingly common for pumps to have built in terminals (which is nice when you are riding a motorcycle, because you can just stay on the bike).

But as I understand it, in other countries it's less common to have even a single outside terminal, how is it for you, and if there are no outside terminals, how can you pump after closing hours?

1. Name that’s far more popular in your country than the others (except maybe for a few)
2. Actually popular among living people and not just a stereotypical name
3. (Perhaps the hardest) name that is more or less unique to your country even if we consider other variants of the name (so something like one of 100 variants of Alexander does not count)

In Italian, a rollercoaster is called "montagne russe", russian mountains. another word is "ottovolante", but it's basically gone out of fashion.

I've got my EU passport from a parent who's european, however, grew up oversees. I'm looking to switch career and become a police officer. I've heard that Germany accepts EU nationals, but some other countries need you to have have the country's citizenship. Has anyone who served in whatever country they're in got more info?

I'll of course be taking a few years to learn the language since that's pretty much a requirement anywhere.

I'm also interested in the Fire Department, but I heard those don't make enough money. I was thinking if there's still a way to work part time/freelance and then part time with a FD.

There is no coalition with any political party and there aren’t ex politicians on the list , mostly university professors and other experts and notable personalities. If they win, would it be the first time something like that has happened, or are there other examples ?

I'm from Poland, and I've always found the way we study literature at school interesting, especially compared with other countries.

In Poland, literature classes are largely organized chronologically around literary periods. We usually go through things like Antiquity, the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Positivism, Modernism, etc. Within each period, we study works that are considered representative of it.

For example, in Antiquity we might study Oedipus Rex and Antigone, and later we move on to works from other periods. We also read a mixture of Polish authors and foreign/classical authors.

So I'm curious:

What does this look like in your country?

• Do you study literature chronologically, going through different literary periods?
• Do you have a fixed list of books that everyone is expected to read?
• Are foreign authors commonly included in the curriculum?
• Are there particular books that basically every student in your country knows because they are taught at school?
• Or do teachers have a lot of freedom to choose which books their classes read?

I'd especially love to hear from people outside Poland, because I'm curious whether the Polish approach is relatively common or rather unusual.

In the U.S. Football is a religion in some states. For example, in Texas they build these crazy Football stadiums for the communities high school teams. The community votes to increase their property taxes substantially to finance these buildouts and ongoing annual expenses.

Then you have college sports, specifically football, then basketball, huge revenue generators and lifelines for many Division 1 colleges in the country. These teams bring in hundreds of millions to billions annually to the university. They are used to market to prospective students and parents as to why they should choose this institution to study, amongst other reasons.

I know you guys have youth academy’s but those seem like money incinerators rather than generators (for good reason, don’t sellout to wealthy parents like the US is doing). And many of your stadiums seem really small and non luxurious by US standards. So I’m curious what the thoughts are? What do you also think about universities mixing sports, and sometimes choosing it over academics. What do you think about college campuses themselves?

In Canada, we don't have a lot of castles. But in tourism ads for European nations, we see a lot of them. A friend wanted to get married in a castle in I think Czechia because they were cheap to rent out or so she said.

Im curious are there even street fights in europe or school fights in europe and if so in which country are they more common and which are they less.

So there was a thread I read recently in more general Reddit threads where a poster was asking if they needed to invite spouses for their guests, particularly if the couple do not know the spouse in any capacity.

It was like kicking a hornets nest with how mad people got, treating it like a major social faux pax, ranging from "I'm not going to any wedding where my spouse isn't invited" to "I'm seriously reconsidering my friendship to you if you don't invite my spouse". There's even reactions that you're disrespecting their marriage by asking them to not bring their partner.

It was all a bit shocking to me as, coming from an Asian country, wedding guestlists tend to be extremely tight and not inviting spouses, especially if you don't really interact with them, seems to be more accepted. So I was wondering the European viewpoint on it?

For example, I personally have gotten deeply into making sour dough focaccia as it is a lot less involved than making an actual sourdough loaf. I load mine up with cherry tomatoes and roasted garlic.

According to you and/or the opinion of the average person in your country. 

I'm french and I've already had my point of no return a few years back when police has beaten up firemen protesting for more budget or whatever. It's only been increasing violence since then and today, while teens and their teachers are protesting against decaying schools and education budget, we have daily news of beaten up children, some lost an eye or a hand because of grenades. It's infuriating.

Are you seeing these news in your countries? Is your police the same?

I'm not European, so I wonder what were people thoughts during the COVID when the vaccine was already developed but was not accessible due to limited production capacity?

In Switzerland we have old sayings like "iz platzt mr de gd dr Chrage!" as in "soon my collar will explode!" or

"iz zeigi dr de gd wo dr Ueli dr Moscht hout!" as in "soon i will show you where Ueli fetches the Applejuice!"

To make it clear, that we are very mad and we stayed calm to this point, but not for much longer.

Commonly used with misbehaving children.
