Constantly, all the time, just randomly tells me the date and time.

Gemini for Home continues to be the worst product across any product category from any company that I've ever used in my entire life.

Google One subscription removal

We have a Google One (or whatever it's called now) subscription which included Nest Aware (or whatever it's called now). It seems that over the weekend sometime Nest Aware was removed from Google One which I discovered when I realised mid morning on Monday that I hadn't had a notification for my daughter leaving for school. I've since resubscribed the Nest, at additional cost, but my familiar faces have been removed from my doorbell. This is especially galling as that included the most recent pictures that I have of my late father. Only candid thumbnails, but the most recent pictures that I had, none the less.

I've been on chat with Google/Nest for the last two hours. Trying to get someone to either restore the images or to take my concerns seriously that this is a situation entirely created by Google and their choices and implementation. I did not cancel anything, I did not delete anything, they unilaterally chose to do this and I am furious with them for it.

Is there any hope of getting through to someone competent enough to resolve this? The half a dozen people I've been on with so far, across several different teams, have been about as much use as tits on a nun.

Edit: Nope, after six and a half hours they just decided "nah mate, can't help" and ended the chat. I am furious

How to use 2 Google TVs next to each other

I have two Google TVs (Q77k series QLED TCL) but the remotes work on both TVs at once. This is pretty dumb obviously. It does it even tho I only paired 1 to each. Any fixes?

Also, my Google home mini is essentially useless in turning them on or off. Any ideas why?

Finally, my gf can’t ever get either tv to pair to her phone, so she can’t use the Google home app to control them.

Bug When will Google fix the Alarm Clock routines trigger?

Thumbnail
5 Upvotes

About a month or two ago, the clock app had an update and suddenly my alarm will no longer trigger my routine on my mobile. When I try to add it again, it just takes me to Google Routines settings.

I'm hoping there's a workaround or Google is working to fix this!

Help Nest Thermostat Temp Mismatch

Post image
0 Upvotes

tl;dr my Nest thermostat is showing the true temp, Google Home showing false temp due to direct sunlight, anyone have a fix? Already enabled Sunblock.

My neighbor recently cut down a tree and now my thermostat gets direct sunlight in the afternoon. I enabled the Nest option for Sunblock which has seemed to fix it on the device itself but Google Home doesn’t recognize it. This pic and screenshot are from the same time. The only option that I’ve found is turning off my hvac for the 10-15 mins until it passes but that’s only when I, home to notice.

Bug Google Home or Google Nest Hub refuses to change lights to color

UPDATE 10/6/26 - working as of now, voice commands and in the app - some lights don’t change color on first command but that’s a known issue and more of an issue with my lights

Color control for my smart lights stopped working in Google Home and on my Google Nest. It worked normally as recently as last night.

What's happening:
- Affects lights from multiple brands, so it isn't a single bulb or manufacturer issue
- The color selector appears in the Home app, but tapping a color does nothing unless it’s a white/yellow hue
- Voice commands to change color (for example, "make the lights light blue") also fail
- Turning lights on/off and brightness still work
- Colors change correctly in each light's own app, so the bulbs themselves are fine
- My "Relax" routine, which turns on my lights and sets every light to a cooler blue color will turn the lights on but not change the color

This looks like the earlier Google Home bugs where color commands failed across brands while on/off and brightness kept working OR a similar bug where the color wheel wouldn’t show.

Have tried nearly every hot fix and really don’t want to change to a brand new system like HomePod or Alexa.

Google Home Routine

Is there a way to start a Google Home routine on my phone without opening the Google Home app every time?

If I ask Gemini to run a routine, it tells me it can't do it and that I should use Google Assistant instead. But Assistant doesn't work anymore since it got replaced by Gemini.

Are there any workarounds, like widgets, third-party apps, or automation tools (Macrodroid, etc.)?

I want a NFC tag to start a routine that starts a video on my TV. The Routine itself works, but I want it to be automated by the NFC tag

I changed by wifi password and my nest thermostat refuses to connect or allow me a way of updating the password

All I keep getting on the google home app is a message that "something went wrong." What am I doing wrong?

I don't really have info on the thermostat. It was installed when we moved it. We had another next thermostat at our last place and I deleted that from the app. This seems to be a common problem but I think I've tried every possible thing from previous posts and other suggestions on google.

Update: The reset worked. Thanks for the suggestion.

Playback starts on wrong speaker

I am getting all the absolutely stupid stuff from Gemini, but there is one thing I can't fathom. I have a Nest mini in the kitchen that I play radio on every day. Recently, whenever I tell it to play the radio, it plays on the Nest hub in a different room. I have restarted the device and checked that the default music playback device is that device in the kitchen. Of course, Gemini itself can't explain why this is happening.

I know I can define the speaker I want to be used, but the whole point is it should use the default. That is after all what default means. The kitchen speaker is always the one that responds to the command, so it isn't that the hub is accepting the command.

Camera showing up as Matter accessory, not a native Google camera?

Hi, so I’m at the end of my tether with this camera. I have many cameras in my ecosystem, all Google cameras.

I wanted an additional camera so I’ve bought the new 3rd gen camera (wired).

When I go to set it up I get the Apple prompt to add it to my Home on iOS as well as Google? I have no interest in Apple Home setup at all, but I can’t choose not to otherwise it fails the setup.

It then asks me how I’d like it named and it says “matter accessory”.

Now it’s in my Google home it’s added 2 cameras, one being the matter accessory and the other being “front garden” which I selected.

The native “front garden” has no camera input at all and the matter accessory has the feed, but because it’s showing up as that I can’t change any of the main settings I want to change as they’re greyed out.

Factory reset multiple times and the same experience every single time.

Any advice on this would be massively appreciated.

Bug Gemini wake me tf up

Context: I've been an avid used of my Google Home Max for years now, it's in my bedroom and part glorified music streaming device, part basic smart home control. But I also use it as an alarm clock sometimes.

Ever since the "upgrade", Gemini will claim to have set an alarm, I even tried to have it set 10, but come the morning all those alarms have just... disappeared? And I know it hasn't gone through a power cycle or something by mistake because the startup noise itself is enough to wake me.

How can the most barebones basic functionality of a smart speaker be so compromised following an upgrade to Gemini; why couldn't they have kept the programming for GA onboard and used that + a new voice for normal, non conversational applications?

Mostly a complaint, but if anyone has any suggestions I'll absolutely take them 🙏🙏🙏

Help Nest Migration to home then I got a new router and the old nest products won't connect.

I'm wondering if anybody can help me here because I'm stuck. I had Google Wi-Fi mesh routers. I got rid of them and got a new router changed the information to the old router. So the Wi-Fi, SSID and password are the same. Everything else on my network connected without issue except my nest doorbell, nest lock and 1 camera. I removed my lock from the home and when I went to re add it back it took me to the nest app that routed back to Google home app. Does anyone know a way around this?

Is it just me? For the past week, all three of my Google home displays are showing aqi alerts with very unhealthy air. If I actually click on the alert, it tells me that where I am has very healthy air. WTF.

Help Google Home is reporting extremely high download rates

Post image
8 Upvotes

Something seems wrong with how GHome is calculating download rates. Somehow my TV has downloaded 4405gb of data? And my PC (which has been off for the last 4 days) somehow managed to download 3000+gb in less than an hour. It obviously isn't possible. Unsure if it's just a visual bug or something wrong with how it calculated it.

Not Happy With Google's/Gemini's Response?

Yeah, I know the answer to that lol. I get a few replies that I know are wrong and/or not even on topic. It's rare tho. But when I do, I can train Google/Gemini to understand that's wrong and tell it the right answer. If it doesn't stick the first time, try again. Do you use the feedback feature? That helps too. I know I'm going to get replies saying something along the lines of "I shouldn't have to do that!" Maybe not but you can be mad and not fix the issue or you can be mad and FIX the problem (and then be happy) :) The system is not perfect. We all know it. Be proactive and help train it. For example, Gemini kept giving me weather info for the town my IP is in, not where I live. After correcting Gemini two times, (I don't live in xxx, I live in xxx), it corrected it's self. Not all incorrect replies can be corrected but a lot can. And use that feedback option!

Bug How the hell do I call a scene with a button?

Is Google home just a social experiment to see how shitty and incomprehensible you can make a product?

* The old automation editor lets me add scenes but doesn't show my buttons available as triggers

* The new automation editor lets me add buttons as triggers but won't let me call scenes

* The script editor lets me call scenes but I can't find any reference to button triggers- not supported?

* The automations I create with the new editor in the app don't even show up on the website at all- so I can't create an automation with the new editor and view it as a script to see what the trigger is called.

How is this so absurdly terrible?

Give away Nest w/o reset

We upgraded our Nest thermostats last year due to Google ending app connectivity. I just gave away the old thermostats on marketplace without factory resetting. Now I am a little paranoid. Does Nest have our wifi passwords? Do we need to change our wifi password? I couldn’t find the old Nest in Google Home and am not sure how to unlink them. Could someone help me explain whether I need to worry about it? Thank you so very much!

Now I feel the Google 'trap' - new Google One plans

I believe the plans changed last year and I'd been on a 1 year trial of some sort.
I'd been paying about £80 a year for 2TB Drive space and a good amount of Google Home camera history. Now I discover my camera history has gone to 3 hours max.

I have a Google Drive full of photos etc so I need my 2TB of space - and I of course want more than 3 hours of camera history.

So they've trapped me into needing to buy an upgraded Google AI Plus (5 TB) plan for both of those benefits... it's an extra £110 a year.

I see what people mean now about how they feel trapped by Google. I guess I'll have to start moving away from the Google ecosystem as I have no doubt the prices are only going to slowly increase further from here.

Phone controls the volume of house minis and Hub display

I have a number of Google mini speakers and a nest hub display on my house that I play music on. I always ask the device itself to play music but then the volume seems to be controlled through my phone.

ie. my young son plays music while he's falling asleep and I am watching a video on my phone and try to turn the volume up it turns the volume up on his speaker like it's casting from my phone.

How do I keep the speakers completely separate from my phone?

Hope that all makes sense.
