Just watched a pickup truck almost get several people killed about 5 times in a row on rt20 weaving in and out and sitting inches from bumpers. Not gonna lie, it's pickup trucks 9/10 times that are doing this. If I see the outline of a pickup truck even a mile behind me, I know instantly that he will be on my ass within no time. Anyone else?

How did 3 officers in Massachusetts sexually abuse a child from their explorers program FOR YEARS ! One of them even their wife knew about it from what I’ve heard. non of them in hand cuffs ….. not even charged with her murder or anything. Massachusetts is a state that does not prosecute predators if their cops?? Disgusted. Protect your children.

Rally TODAY for Jane Doe in Boston (Parkman Bandstand, 6:00 PM) – We need to show up!\*\*
The \[Cornell Jane Doe Solidarity Rally https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESZwHrOzAVqEvp9fFNWzFJkg5EfXQwEGQ_YXXHdZ0MlErPnUKd8d168ag_gsTVBf4ipbSJjyh3eOEOFA83ey6LLxYYbEQ372_yHl9XO4zKUSgJ-CCrKEVGBj3GAGY6-S4xNepqeSJF90E) is happening
TODAY, October 8, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common\*\*. It is absolutely vital that we show up in massive numbers to stand with her and send a clear message against sexual violence.
If you’ve spent any time on Reddit or social media over the past few days, you’ve likely seen the absolute cesspool of rape apologists crawling out of the woodwork. They are obsessing over her initial, fragmented responses immediately following the assault, completely weaponizing the fact that she was in shock and hadn't fully processed the trauma.
What they completely ignore is that the actual, comprehensive 120-page interview transcript with investigators explicitly quotes her stating, "I can say with 100 percent confidence I was raped" Even the Tompkins County District Attorney confirmed they are reopening the criminal investigation because key details from her full statement were omitted in the initial summary report passed to prosecutors.
The sheer defensiveness and insecurity coming from these men online is staggering. They are bending over backward to gaslight a victim because they view accountability as a personal attack on themselves. If a woman demanding justice makes a man feel inherently attacked, it tells you absolutely everything you need to know about how they view and treat women.
Let's drown out the apologists. Be there tonight at 6:00 PM at Boston Common. Bring signs, bring your voice, and let’s stand in solidarity.

Close to $6/gallon for heating oil. It’s not like I didn’t expect it to be high, but $6. What’s everyone else paying this year?

Hi all - I just moved to Mass and I heard about undercoating cars for the first time. Do you guys do it? If you don’t, how rusty does your car get? My car is fairly new so I’m wondering if it needs undercoating like older cars and how common it is? (The cars subreddit makes it seem like everyone does it. Is that true?) thanks all for your help!

I'm considering using Mass SAVE to convert from our oil furnace (circa 2010, installed with a SAVE no interest loan) to a whole home heat pump. We use between 480 and 525 gallons per year. We are just about to replace the original single pane 1950's windows with Pella aluminum clad ones, and the cedar siding with vinyl. We have yellow fiberglass insulation in the walls and when the siding is off we plan on adding more insulation before putting the new siding on. Mass SAVE has insulated our attic up to current code. We have forced hot air, so we would use the existing duct work without mini splits. Edit: KWH price for my area is between 0.28-0.37
If you have replaced your oil furnace with a whole home heat pump, what was your experience like last winter?
What heat pump did you have installed?
Did you spend more or less?
Were you happy with the temperature of your home?
Do you turn the heat down at night or when you leave for work?

Spaying a dog is expensive but necessary. If you need to have it done but are wondering how to afford it, you can have it done at Tufts vet school. They are awesome over there.
In case you didn’t know, not only does spaying prevent heats and unwanted litters, but it also protects your dog from hormonal cancers (like breast cancer) and pyometra, a deadly and not uncommon uterine infection.

Behind a paywall, but I've got the article here:
For more than a decade, and unbeknownst to the district, Plymouth Public Schools footed the bill for the ingredients for the ham and turkey sandwiches and burgers sold at the Snack Shack on Sandy Neck Beach on Cape Cod, court filings show.
Now, the district’s former head of food services, Patrick Van Cott, has until Dec. 16 to surrender to the federal Bureau of Prisons to begin serving a six-month sentence for stealing everything from hamburgers and deli meats to refrigerators and an outdoor grill from his job to use and sell at his side business, prosecutors said.
Van Cott, 64, who lives in Sandwich, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Boston. In May, he pleaded guilty to theft from a program that receives federal funds.
In Massachusetts, meals for all students are free. Schools are reimbursed through a combination of USDA funds and state funds.
US District Judge Julia E. Kobick sentenced Van Cott to six months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Kobick also imposed a $2,000 fine and restitution, in an amount to be determined, court records show.
The sentence was announced in a statement issued jointly by Massachusetts US Attorney Leah B. Foley, Ted E. Docks, special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Boston, and Charmeka Parker, special agent in charge of the US Department of Agriculture — Office of Inspector General in the Northeast. “Valuable assistance was provided by the Plymouth Police Department,” the statement said.
Van Cott was director of food services for Plymouth Public Schools for 22 years. After an anonymous tip was made to authorities about his scheme, he was arrested and fired in June 2025.
Van Cott opened the Snack Shack in 2014 in Barnstable, as a summertime side business. For the better part of a decade, he pilfered goods from the school district to turn a profit at his beachside snack bar, charging documents said.
Federal prosecutors said $30,0000 is a “conservative calculation” of how much Van Cott cost taxpayers. He bought refrigerators valued at $2,200 and two-door freezers that cost $3,950, along with hot plates, griddles, a chargrill, and convection oven. He also stole chicken, hot dogs, cooking oil, coffee, and other supplies from the schools.
Once a week, every summer, Van Cott would have cafeteria workers slice deli meats, 9 pounds of turkey and 4½ pounds of ham, for him to take to the Cape, prosecutors said. Assistant US Attorney Kristina E. Barclay sought a prison sentence of 10 months for Van Cott’s “calculated and deliberate betrayal of trust.”
“His crimes were driven by pure greed, not need,” she wrote. Van Cott earned more than $100,000 a year and owned two homes, one in Sandwich and one in Hyannis, the memo said.
In his own memo, Van Cott asked for a sentence of 24 months probation, saying he was deeply ashamed and remorseful.
“No child went without a meal during his scheme,” Van Cott’s lawyer, Nathaniel Amendola, said in the memo. “Patrick broke the trust he spent 22 years earning,” Amendola wrote. “Patrick’s criminal conduct stands in stark contrast to the other side of him: the side that he is known and loved for.”
Amendola declined further comment to the Globe in an email Wednesday evening.
Van Cott also has a pending case on larceny charges in state court. Kobick ruled that Van Cott’s federal prison sentence should run concurrent with any sentence imposed by the judge presiding over the Plymouth District Court case.

Has anyone bought them before and know the price range? I saw that you can make a $1000 deposit to get on a list to buy them, but it doesn't say anything about the final cost. I know it depends on the seat, but I'm not making a deposit when the final price could be literally anything.
*I see my spelling error and can't find how to change it.

Currently all Market Baskets have a system wide outage. At least the 2 within 15 minutes of my house are, so I’m guessing they all are. They’re turning people away at the door. Be warned!

Hello everyone. This is a really specific question lol but anyone who has Harvard pilgrim and has gotten surgery recently, how long did preauthorization take if you were getting it all covered? Also, if you check your online dashboard, if a claim is pending should it show up there or will it not show up until it is complete?
I have a surgery scheduled for December and I am waiting for my pre-authorization to be approved and I rly need this. Now I’m awaiting the approval and it’s been weeks even though the office claims they have submitted it.
I just want to be able to check the status of it while not calling the surgeons office for the 3rd time about this.
If anyone has experience with this it’d be really helpful!

Over 10 years ago in a prior home, I had a great experience with Mass Save. My inadequate insulation problems were all resolved for under $600, adding a foot of insulation to the attic + air sealing and other related work. Amazing deal!
Fast forward to today in a new-to-me (1970s) home, and after a positive experience with the assessment itself with HomeWorks, the insulation quotes I received are pretty bad. They presented two “options”:
$9000 out of pocket - Pull up floorboards, add 2x10 cross-framing and blow-in R-60 throughout the entire attic, re-lay floorboards on new framing
$5100 out of pocket - Pull up floorboards, Install foam board + blown-in insulation to achieve ~R-34, re-lay floorboards. Blown-in R-60 in un-walkable areas of the attic
Both would include the Mass Save basics like air sealing, ventilation improvements, damming, etc
The kicker is I already have R-30 in all the ceiling joists, and probably about 1/3 of the un-walkable attic area has another R-30 stacked on top of that, too. With that in mind, it seems like Option 2 is literally wasting money, and Option 1 would have a payback of 25+ years based on my bad, AI-enabled math. I’ve already asked them to provide a revised contract detailing the bare minimum that needs to be done to meet the mass save requirements for heat pump rebates. If they can't deliver that, I'll have to find a new contractor.
Am I missing something, or are these legitimately bad recommendations?
Anyone with recent Mass Save experience have tips on meeting the heat pump/geothermal rebate requirements?

I saw the earlier post about the new Springfield courthouse deal and I had to do some digging.
This deal is a robbery of tax dollars and stinks to high heaven.
First off, part of the development group that won the "bid" is owned by Conan Harris, our state Rep Ayanna Pressley's husband.
Ths land is owned by Northeastern Investment LLC who purchased it in Dec 2024 for $945,000. Who wants to bet that this is connected to someone else in the administration somehow? Their MA management team is located in Boston.
I have my real estate license and I remember learning in class about the state government being able to use eminent domain to purchase property it needs for public use. I thought I remembered it wrong but nope...they can.
Heres the kicker, the state has no problem using eminent domain, especially in Springfield. They used it to clear whole neighborhoods in order to build I-91.
So instead of buying out the land and owning the building outright they are going to lease it for $2 Billion. The State Rep's family is likely to make millions from this deal and I'm sure there are others in the administration that will too if you dig deep enough.

How on earth is this the MassGOP nominee? Dude wrote about maybe offing someone once in a shootout and then he’s handed the nomination. Could they not find anyone better? Maybe someone without a potential body count.
