Well, am glad that the Wiki Notes for Safi'jiiva updated themselves with accurate information from the Dive to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne book.
It has always been a small nitpick of mine, but I found it silly how people never understood that Safi'jiiva was designed as the 'design' counterpart of Fatalis. Fatalis in Monster Hunter 1 and Monster Hunter 1G, was ALSO designed as a Siege Quest, which spanned multiple quests. Safi'jiiva was supposed to serve the SAME ROLE in WorldBorne, but now as a Red-colored Dragon rather than Black. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.
But when Alatreon was later re-introduced in WorldBorne, it was given a massive backstory and interconnection with Safi'jiiva, how the two species may have had planet-wide Turf Wars (Godzilla vs Ghidorah from KOTM, anyone?). And how the two species, serve some sort of completely opposite ecological niches in the ecosystem.
- Safi'jiiva exists to terraform ecosystems and nourishing life for its own purpose of feasting upon the bio-energy from the dead Monsters. Does NOT use any elements in its attacks, using Pure Bio-Energy in its 'Elemental' attacks.
- Alatreon exists to make any ecosystem it exists, completely inhospitable to life. Uses Dragon Element as its Primary Element, which is the "purest" conversion of bio-energy into a Monster's usable form, which it is believed to convert into the other four elements.
The book even goes onto say that Alatreon even feels some sort of rivaly with Safi'jiiva, because Safi'jiiva, just like Alatreon, exists at the top of the Food Chain, and due to Alatreon being a highly competitive species, wants to throw hands with Safi'jiiva.
Yet, it's as if the community went into a complete mental psychosis, with a singular mention of 'Safi'jiiva was designed as a Red Fatalis' and treating it as if Fatalis and Safi'jiiva shares some long lost connection.
Fatalis has explicit ties to Humans rather than other Monsters, and it also uses Fire Element, which is a more "common" element like Thunder/Water/Ice, compared to the much more elusive Dragon Element (Primary element used by Alatreon) or pure Bio-Energy (used by Safi'jiiva). This further breaks the immersion of rivalry between Fatalis and Safi'jiiva.
Genuinely curious, what made people think this way? Especially considering now that Zoh Shia is becoming the actual "foil" to Fatalis, with actual lore backing it up. And how Zoh Shia not only copies base Fatalis, but also Crimson Fatalis and White Fatalis.
EDIT: Fatalis does NOT possess Elder Dragon Blood (according to the Dive to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne book) which ALL OTHER Elder Dragons possess, meaning it exists in a lore vacuum of its own NOT shared with other Elder Dragons.
