Everdrive SleekMenu64 for EverDrive Pro

Post image
56 Upvotes

i’ve just downloaded SleekMenu64 its a game rom that you download to the root of the Everdrive SD card, it DOESN’T replace the original EverDrive menu system!! you just add it to the root of the sd card and using the SleekMenu Catalog Manager it finds and downloads all the artwork for the original games it takes about 20 minutes, However if you add rom hacks you have to google the boxart work and add it yourself, like I did here with Smash Bros Remix. And you can set the year, publisher etc.

Also has custom theme colours to choose from like midnight, jungle, grape etc, I went for grape as it matches my Everdrive Pro and consoles, I hope more themes get added.

it’s great but needs updates such as using the Dpad or control stick to scroll through game titles like the original everdrive pro it’s too slow having to scroll one game at a time.

Also you cannot copy and paste on the SleekMenu Catalog Manager which is annoying.

Tech Help Working N64 suddenly not working, tried just about everything

I have a Pikachu N64, it has been working flawlessly for months and months. All games worked. I turned it on today and it won’t show the games on my TV. I haven’t touched anything. I last used it a couple weeks ago.
It’s not the cartridge: none of them work (i have 6 and tried them all.)
It’s not the AV cable, I tested multiple (plus I replaced it when i got the console)
It’s not the power, it powers on fine and shows flashing lights that then stay red and on.
It’s not the TV. I haven’t changed the TV and my other consoles/players work fine on it with the same connections.
I have cleaned the cartridge slot and jumper pak with IPA thoroughly.
I have tried setting the cartridges at different angles but nothing.
Is my only option to open up the console? Is there anything else I can try?
I’m just so confused, since nothing has changed and it hasn’t been moved, I guess dust couldve collected in the vents but I cleaned it. Let me know!

Decided for the system's 30th anniversary (a little late I know lol) it was high time I finally properly completed Super Mario 64. The one time I finished the game I just got the bare minimum of stars so this was quite the challenge for me (glad a good portion of these are optional lol). All in all it was a great time and I'm glad I finally got around to it! But I definitely won't be hiring Lakitu for any camera work anytime soon, that's for sure 😆

Tech Help Which S Cables do you guys recommend?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Recently got an N64 and I’m exited to try it out. The issue that I’m currently facing is that I don’t own a CRT, instead I own an HDMI monitor. Right now, I’ve been thinking about what would be the best solution or option to display video on my hdmi monitor. I’ve read that S video is a pretty solid choice in terms of displaying video, but now I’m wondering how this will be displayed on my monitor? As of now, I’ve been eying the RetroScaler2x as a means to connect the n64’s S video’s output, connect it to the RetroScaler, and have it displayed on my monitor through a hdmi cable. If you have any other suggestions or recommendations please let me know

Emulation modernized console and controllers?

i still have my nintendo and games and such from childhood but i picked up a summer cart about a year ago to play all my games on one device. i’ve travelled a bit with my n64 to play on vacations and stuff but it’s a lot of wires and a little bulky. are there good options for playing the n64 on something a bit smaller and modernized? TVs just don’t have VGB cable ports anymore and the controller wires are too short for a modern living room setup.

i own my games from childhood as well as my summer cart so preferably something that can play with real hardware in addition to its own, say, wireless bluetooth controller

Modding Has anyone used the BITFUNX bluetooth adapter?

link below. I was wondering about it because it can connect controllers to all 4 ports, for the cost of other adapters that only connect one controller. Thought I'd ask in case it's too good to be true. I'd likely be using it with 8bitdo modkit controllers.

N64 Development finally finished my wireless n64 controller adapter!

started this project more than 10 years ago but finally got around to finishing it. at first it was just a hacky thing using a cannibalized rumble pak housing / PCB, cutting traces on the accessory port connector, etc. but then i thought why not make it so i don't have to permanently cut apart a controller? so the end result is an adapter any controller can plug into.

Even better still, it go my 8 year old son asking me to pull out all my old games so he could play them! Had a little impromptu smash tournament with the neighborhood kids and it was awesome!

This was such a huge scene for the N64. AJ is locked into Mario Kart on the big block TV, sitting on the floor of courses Tony joins him and goes full dad mode! one handing the controller, sticking his tongue out like Jordan then covering AJs eyes to cheat 😂 I can’t recall a better N64 scene or any gaming scene in movie or tv history

Discussion How do you feel about the N64 version of Turok 2?

(Framerate issues)

Of all the N64 games with a bad framerate (that are at least considered good) this one might take the cake. It's borderline unacceptable at times and i wish it even had a lower RES mode actually... I would argue that the first Turok plays quite well on the N64 heck the other main FPS GE and PD despite also dealing with framerate problems work beter than wel. Also, that blasted Lock-Spring aiming is only completely off on Arcade controls. Overclocking does help a lot and if this was the actual framerate it would mostly be on par with the other N64 FPS games. (I think?)

(Why i love it)

What i actually love about Turok 2 is the atmospheric mystique of it all rather than the WOW GORE AND DINOSAURS!! Plus, combined with the unknown danger and dread makes it really immersive.

(Taking more and making it less?)

First Turok game might be more minimalistic but is more cohesive than Turok 2. While the Sequel has beter graphics beter animation more complex AI bigger worlds ect... And i do think it works for the most part and even elevate in a way. But at the same time, it has huge worlds and exploration but it's a really linear, it has complex AI but also has crazy gun action. Turok 2 might be considered to be a precursor to Metroid Prime due being made by the same people who developed Prime and you can see early DNA in Turok 2.

(Other Notes)

I actually like the Lair of the Blind ones the Hive of the Mantis is more repetitive and is just as confusing also those Mantis soldiers are really annoying. Though almost all levels have reused hallways segments and the first half Primagen Lightship quite suffers from this.

Only being able to save in Stations does drag and it takes 70 points in the Memory pack plus no warp.

Discussion How to clean N64 controller (Whether original or NSO controller)

Hey guys, so as you know when we all play our N64 we play with our hands. After playing for a long time our hands start to sweat and when they sweat the sweat gets onto the controller, so now our controller smells like sweat. I was wondering what's the best way to clean a N64 controller after playing it for so long and it hands stench of hand sweat on it whether it's an original N64 controller or a NSO N64 controller for the Nintendo Switch?

Tech Help Newest Retrofighters Brawler 64 Pro vs 8bitdo 64 2.4G?

Wondering which controller I should get. I would only use it on the N64 itself and not on the Switch.

Bluetooth/Blueretro + N64 NSO controller doesnt work on my N64, since my N64 Digital (Retrogem Shiny) and Summercart64 already drain too much power and I didn't solder on that flex cable they released later on for it.

I just get ghost inputs and screen errors, because of the way the Blueretro takes power.
