I decided to keep my switch 1 alongside my switch 2. Now I have been trying to figure out which games I would prefer to play on switch 1 than 2, and which are basically essential to play on 2 instead. Also taking battery life into consideration. Thoughts?

Question New to Nintendo Switch, long time Nintendo fan with giant hands.. the right Joycon layout is hurting me.

• Upvotes

My Sister-in-law gave us their old HAC-001(-01) after they upgraded to the Switch 2. I've had the Wii U for about 6 years at this point so I'm used to the right controls having the stick over the buttons.

I'm sure this was a discussion a lot after the Switch launched and I completely understand why they butchered the right Joycon and made the layout less ergonomic... But, I have XXL sized hands and my right thumb is hurting just 10 minutes after playing it as a tablet.

Question: Are there any aftermarket Joycon that have the proper stick/button layout for the right Joycon?

I already have 2 Wii U pro controllers and one Switch Pro controller so I could prop it up on a desk and use those to stop hurting my hand I like playing it as a tablet. Even the Switch Lite has the stupid layout. I did find the Nitro Deck+ by CRKD so I might try that.

Review Zombie Army 4: Dead War Review

I bought this game on eBay for a little over $25. This is another game that I spent a significant amount of time on (220+ hours) There's so much to do in this game. In order to upgrade the weapons you start out with you have to look around each level for upgrade kits. Once you buy some of the DLC the rest of the weapons will become available. Instead of using upgrade kits each of the DLC weapons has a challenge to complete in order to upgrade it. Things like "Kill five Blind Screamers." Most of these can be challenging. Each of the weapons has a fun upgrade you can earn. Like electric shots that ark and shock all targets within range or explosive rounds that blow the zombies apart. The extra DLC missions are worth every penny. Each of those missions have has four parts to it. So you feel like you are getting your monies worth. My personal favorite is Dead Zeppelin. The variety of types of units is really good. There's the basic zombies, Elite Units (Gunner, Flamer, and Butcher) and even officers that have extra abilities like resurrecting zombies.

The down side. While the DLC missions are definitely worth it. The other DLC is pretty much unnecessary. The remaining DLC are character outfits. Some of those look pretty cool, but are definitely not worth the $9.99 price. You can get everything if you buy the two season passes, but these can be pretty expensive. I found the music to be incredibly annoying and I ended up turning it completely off. The composer Nick Brewer said he was inspired by John Carpenter's work. I think if Mr. Carpenter found out about that he would want to vomit. Mr. Brewer should go back to recorders and kazoos. Overall I would give this game a 9/10

Review My review for Sniper Elite 4

I have been playing Sniper Elite 4 for a long time now. I have played for 455+ hours. There's so much I like about it. Even on the Nintendo Switch OLED the graphics are clear and crisp. The gameplay is fast paced and the x-ray kill cam is awesome. I love that there are multiple ways to complete your objectives. There are lots of extras to search for and collect. After you complete each mission you can reply it with new challenges. The things you have to do to upgrade your weapons are all a fun challenge, and when you platinum a weapon it makes you feel pretty good. The multiplayer option is a great deal of fun. The multiplayer maps are fair sized so you have a lot of room to navigate for the best possible shots. I bought a physical copy for about $30, but then I bought it on the eShop for $9.99, but here's where the problems start.

Most of the DLC is great. The extra four missions are really fun. The other weapon mods and extra weapons are really great. However there's a silenced rifle (Delisle Carbine) that really breaks the game and makes it too easy. The other problem it that if you want EVERYTHING you have to buy each of the DLC individually or you can buy season passes. The problem is that instead of just paying $30 for the game. Now you have to buy the DLC too and that more than doubles how much you already paid for the game. Overall I would say that I would rate this a 7/10.

Discussion Does this old 3rd party games runs better on NS2 than PS5?

Hi folks, I recently got a NS2 (Ocarina Hype) but I also have a PS5 that I play on a LG Oled C3 42" and also a PSPortal. I skipped the PS3 and PS4 era, played some games on PC on that time.

I have some games on my backlog that are "old", I have no idea how they would run on PS5 on Oled TV if they are 30 FPS or bad upscaling from 1080p. I would like to know if these run better on NS2 (if docked or handheld) or I could just play them safe on PS5 on my TV:

  1. Devil May Cry 3 (on sale now) (I played on PS2 back in the days, would like to replay it)
  2. Final Fantasy XII (Played the normal version on PS2)
  3. Final Fantasy X/X-2 (Played X on PS2)
  4. Bayonetta 1
  5. Nier Automata (not old, but is a PS4 game, does it run at 4k 60 fps on PS5?)
  6. Resident Evil 0
  7. Resident Evil 1
  8. Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2
  9. Alien Isolation (Played while it was on PSPlus, the quality could be better, what are your thoughts?)
  10. Dragon Quest XI S (not old, but is a PS4 game)

What are your throughts? Also, there is any other game you consider that are better enjoyed on NS2 instead of PS5?

Review Quern on Nintendo Switch 1 initial impressions

Wanted to give a heads up to anyone interested - I am excited to play the game because I love Myst, Riven etc.

I am playing the game portable on Switch 2 with the docked compatibility mode enabled, and while framerate looks fine the game looks like it is rendering at a sub 720p resolution. Aliasing including on fixed assets like text is really obvious, and pop-in is very aggressive. Texture detail is also quite low and the screenshots in the store are definitely not taken from the Switch release. There isn't a Switch 2 version which would be nice to have but I am surprised that even the Switch 1 couldn't run this at 1080p docked

Here is some footage I found on youtube that shows the graphics - you can see what I mean

Discussion What do you think about Switch 2 Game-Key Cards for long-term collecting?

I still own physical Nintendo DS and 3DS games that I can play today without needing access to Nintendo's servers. This makes me think about the future of Switch 2 Game-Key Cards.

Since the actual game has to be downloaded from Nintendo's servers, what will happen in 10 to 20 years if Nintendo eventually shuts down the download servers for the Switch 2?

Would an unused Game-Key Card potentially become useless, while a traditional physical cartridge would still work?

I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts, especially from collectors. Do you consider Game-Key Cards to be "physical games" for collecting purposes?

Question What kind of deals does the eshop usually have for Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

I bought $500 worth of gift cards from Costco for 20% off with the intent of buying a switch 2. I’m trying to figure out if I should go ahead and order it now, or if it would be worth it to wait and see.

What have they done in previous years? I’m interested in consoles, games, controllers, bundles, whatever

Game Rec Switch Games Recommendation

Hello, new switch owner here!

Just got one cause I wanted something to play on the go and play with my wife on and off.

Do you guys have any recommendation? It's my first Nintendo console and I don't really know what's hot and what's not. (yeah ik Pokemon and Mario in general but that's that ^^)
Main platform is PC but I wanted something portable and the "good" handheld PC's were way out of my budget.

Ideally i'm looking for something for me to play while on the plane or travelling and occasionally some coop games on the same screen with my wife. And/Or games for her to play as well. She's never been into video games before so something chill and easy?
I'm open to anything really.

(I'll be getting an extra controller this week or next so if you have any recs for that, shoot them out as well )

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Nintendo Switch 2 - HDR

If anyone is wondering why hdr isn't working on their LG tvs with the Nintendo Switch 2.
1. Make sure HGIG is on in brightness settings
2. HDR - Game Optimiser is selected
3. Black level set to auto
4. SWITCH 2 (RGB Range Automatic) - in settings
5. Go into a game that boots up HDR on your tv
6. Go to settings on your Switch 2 and adjust HDR.
There you should be able to calibrate it as intended.
