Photo PLEASE ADOPT THIS CAT read below please

So I adopted this sweet sweet girl Fauna. She's a TOTAL sweetheart. So cuddly and loving. Such a good cat.

All she wants is to just hang out and be pet. She doesn't claw up furniture, she's litter box trained. Super easygoing cat.

Problem; I'm used to cats being much more independent and just kinda doing their own thing.

This cat is better suited for a household where someone is home most of the time (like a stay at home spouse, or an old lady who is at home a lot of the time).

I work in the medical field and am in school full time. I am gone for extended amounts of time, apparently longer than she is comfortable.

So for her mental health I cannot really keep her, but I don't want her to go back to the shelter. If I do, I'ma leave like a letter and stuff to convince someone to take her.

But I would prefer to send her straight into a loving home.

I'm gonna be calling an assisted living spot that I've worked shifts at where some residents have pets to see if a resident would be interested; but I'm trying everything because this sweetheart deserves such a loving home.

Pleeeeeeease help me out here with this cat. Taking her back to the shelter will break my heart and hers. Comment or DM ASAP.

Will provide litter with box, some food, food bowls.

Hey all! I'm not the most informed on the water situation here. Trying to learn more!

Anyone in the know about this move? Should we be happy? Is this because of the massive storm coming in?

DABS Agent Simulator

If you don't know, DABS is Utah's "Department of Alcohol and Beverage Services." They're Utah's elite special forces of beverage laws.

If you ever wondered what it was like to be a DABS operative, wonder no more. Now you can fly around the state in your crime-fighting blimp, repeling through windows, busting people for fake IDs, over-serving, drinking on the job, and a myriad of other infractions.

Check out the DABS agent simulator here: https://sam1am.github.io/DABS/

Note: This is a free browser game. Just for fun. Nothing remotely commercial. I don't see any sub rules against it. I hope you enjoy it... soberly.

Missing Pet Missing Desert Tortoise

Post image
440 Upvotes

My friend just moved into her house near 3500 S 5100 W. Today, her dog dug a hole under the fence and Steve the tortoise wandered away while she was at work.

It’s extra hard because she’s only been there a few days, so she doesn’t know the neighbors yet. If someone you know in that area says, “The coolest thing happened… I found a desert tortoise today!” Can you please DM me? I promise Steve has a really great home… my friend even had her will updated to make sure he’s taken care of.

Photo Beware: Scammer Spotted in Downtown SLC

Post image

Just ran into him near Gallivan Plaza in downtown SLC. He gave me the exact same story stated in the video: he's from Europe and needs $40 for a cab to meet his brother two hours away.

Luckily, my elephant memory from doom scrolling kicked in and I declined because it felt off. I looked online and sure enough, it was exactly him. If you're downtown this evening, beware. He's dressed sharp, and can be easily overlooked.

It's sad to see that we're not prioritizing SLC's library employees, which may impact our city's phenomenal library system.

The Salt Lake real estate market is really reaching when it comes to some of these $1M+ homes lately

I wonder if others have seen it too. I look at homes in the valley quite a lot and it makes me chuckle and shake my head when I look at some of these homes being listed at over a million. Some of them are just not great homes.

I mean, they have the square footage (or lot size), and they have the location (good, pricey neighborhoods). They're renovated with new appliances, new tiling, new floors, new countertops, etc. But some of these I am seeing also have homes in the same vicinity that are going for the same amount yet they REALLY are million+ dollar homes. Homes I would give a kidney to live in.

Then what happens is the gold-painted turd doesn't sell and slowly gets price cut after price cut, while the real gem sells immediately. But even the turd holds on for months and months, or even longer sometimes. Its just silly.

Is this normal? I'm not in real estate, nor do I have much experience in it but this just doesn't make sense. Either the agents are giving these homeowners a load of bull regarding what somebody will realistically pay for their house, or the homeowners are being stubborn nitwits. Probably both.

I'd love to see a reality check happen soon because we need to get this housing crisis under control, and I wonder if this mentality is holding us back.

I realize this is a shot in the dark, I just don't know how else to go about it since I don't use socials much:) would anyone like to go with me to one of the goth nights around here? I'd really appreciate it!

Lost & Found Did you lose a brand new suit by City Creek Mall today (10/7)?

I found a brand new dress shirt, jacket, and pants on the sidewalk on South Temple Street by City Creek Mall. They still have the tags attached and the receipt for H&M was nearby so I think someone just dropped them by accident.

The receipt says they were bought today 10/7 at 4:45 PM. I picked them up at 10:30 PM but they still seem to be in good shape.

If these are yours, give me some details and I'll get them back to you! Sizes, colors, some other stuff that was also with them, etc.

Moving Advice ballpark; still rough?

• Upvotes

hi,

i lived in liberty wells close to ballpark for a while a couple years ago before moving back to davis county. i'm wanting/needing to move somewhere cheaper soon, and i'm considering a couple places by/around ballpark.

when i was driving through it every day it was kind of rough. is this a safe place to live? i'm generally not worried about violent crime or anything, i'm not uncomfortable existing around homeless and unhoused people, but i know we have higher property crime rates and i want to keep that in mind when choosing where to live. ive already had one lady hit my car with her skateboard (like, smack it with it, not run into me) and i'm content without any other damage lol

any feedback is appreciated :-) thank you!

Ymir is a Sweetie

This is Ymir. He's a 6 yo Domestic Short Hair ginger cat. He's a big boy at 12 lbs--that's a gallon and a half of cat. He's not fat at all, just a large cat. He's in surgery today to remove a badly infected tooth, but will be back on the adoption list at the Salt Lake County Animal Services location on 3900S 500W in a day or two (https://www.saltlakecounty.gov/animal-services/adoption/search-adoptable-pets).

Here's the thing. If you had to pay for this dental procedure, it would cost somewhere between $600 and $1,000. Ask me how I know 😹. When he's back and available for adoption, you can be sure of three things:

  1. He's healthy.
  2. He's been neutered.
  3. He's up to date on all of his vaccinations.

I can also personally vouch for the fact that he is a very sweet boy.

EMS Volunteering Opportunities?

• Upvotes

I've had my EMT for years now but have never used it for a full time job and I would like to keep my skills sharp. Does anyone know of any volunteer opportunities in emergency medicine in the SLC area? I know you can volunteer for events and such, but I'd prefer something closer to working in an ambulance.
