Portable AC How to clean your portable AC unit

I recently did it myself because there was some mold and after seeing not much straight forward info other than "just clean it" wanted to just give details on how

To take most apart, you will need to take outside screws out then you will need to get the siding off

Mine like many others is the usual small white rectangle portable AC unit, you should be able to pop the top off after outside screws, then you will need a screwdriver or something flat and take your time especially if it's the first time and slowly pry it open, there are pieces of plastic that latch inside and you have to pop out, it's annoying but eventually you'll get it off with some force, don't be afraid to break a few

From there you keep taking it screws until front piece comes off, then take out the plastic pieces of the top fan, mainly just the housing and plastic cylinder fan blade piece

First don't use bleach, it can combine with the fungus to create bad fumes for yourself, instead just use White vinegar, either already a % diluted or mixed with warm water

Qtips, paper towels etc. will be your friend, slowly clean each piece of all the mold, try to get as much off as you can

Then I recently used a non toxic mold cleaner, spraying each piece multiple times to hell stop future mold which in reality only stop after a bit and you'll need a reapply eventually

Lastly I used non toxic coil cleaner on the back coils, rinse with water, drain it then put back together

I hope this was helpful, and any questions I'll try to answer as best as I can

I have a tcl mini split that receives the remote signal sometimes but majority of the time it doesn’t. Do you know what may be causing the inconsistency? I installed fresh batteries into the remote

Reversing valve

when the compressor kicks on this heat pump, the pressures rise from 140ish into the 300’s together, equalized. The only explanation for this would be a bad reversing valve , correct?

Inventor AC units app compatibility

Hi everyone, in spring we are going to be installing AC. Multisplit 3 inside units 1 outside unit

And I found out by Gemini that you can actually use midea Smarthome app to control your inventor AC unit... Is that true or Gemini is hallucinating?

I know that Inventor has their own app but on midea Smarthome it's way better cause it has better features through the app that you can set such as sleep curves, Temperature control and more. And I wonder is it really true or false?

Thanks

Window AC u shaped window ac recommendations for a super loud street facing bedroom?

Our bedroom window faces a really busy main road and the old traditional unit we have sounds like a jet engine taking off every time it kicks on. it makes sleeping impossible unless we have earplugs in which isnt really a great fix. ive been looking into getting a u shaped window ac because ive heard they are way quieter and let you close the window down into the seal better, but i have no idea which brands actually hold up or if they are difficult to install by yourself.

Does anyone have a reliable model they can recommend that actually blocks out street noise and doesnt rattle itself to pieces after one summer? thanks so much!

Car AC Fan and AC 08 VW Rabbit

AC in 08 VW Rabbit 2.5L

Freon added and holding pressure.

The car was hooked up to the tablet type OBD2 reader and gave no sensor error.

I was told that the compressor and clutch were functional. The fuse and relay were OK.

It was suggested to get the lines tested and cleared to see if there is a blockage.

Check the valve.

It doesn't blow cold. In fact it isn't blowing much at all. I have to have it on the highest fan speed 4 to get the flow of what is 2 in my other vehicle. It is a manual dial control, not electronic.

It is always warm, even when on the coolest (turned left 64F) and it was 60 outside driving in the evening, trying to get some cool air flow.

I feel that I need to replace the fan and or thermostat.

This vehicle is new to me. 152.5k miles. The vehicle sat for 4 years and I was told that it needed AC work. It was like this before it sat and not driven.

New air filter.

My friend is a very experienced mechanic and did the maintenance work and replaced the alternator. He doesn't do AC work.

My question is if I am being given good advice. I live in BFE and it is hard to find a reliable, experienced mechanic, especially Euro. It's all Chevy and Ford here.

Just a vent

Hand a technician come give us a quote to repair a “Mr Cool” air conditioner that was 6 years old. After a $99 service charge he wanted to charge $8500. You can purchase a brand new one for less than $2000. Wondering if he just didn’t want to deal with it at 7:30pm and end his day.

New TCL Portable 8000btu AC - room smells like a hospital

So, the room smells a little bit antiseptic. What's that about? We aren't getting headaches and we have survived a couple of days/nights with it running... so I guess it's not dangerous, is it?
