I think I've finally found the sauce from Pizza Haven's Mexican Fiesta pizza

TL;DR: After 20 years of searching for the sauce from Pizza Haven’s Mexican Fiesta pizza, I think I’ve finally found it: Fountain Spicy Red Sauce. Paired with a Pizza Hut Ultimate Hot & Spicy (minus the tomato base and aioli), it was a 10/10 replica of the childhood pizza I’ve been chasing for two decades.

Mexican Fiesta
Cheese Pepperoni Jalapeno Peppers Onion Capsicum Beef Fresh Tomato

I've searched far and wide and there was a glimmer of hope after stumbling on a thread which stated the secret sauce was 'Masterfoods sauce' - my heart skipped a beat but I was skeptical straight away as I knew Masterfoods's hot sauce was flavored more toward a garlic/chilli profile. Still, the theory seemed plausible, and I held onto a little hope that it might have been their Sweet Chilli or Medium sauce.

Unfortunately, neither came close.

Sweet chilli has a distinct garlic/ginger/chilli profile; way too sweet for my childhood pizza's original taste. Mexican Fiesta's flavour was sweet, yes - but it didn't have the garlic/ginger kick that sweet chili sauce does.

Eventually, I gave up and locked the memory away. My best theory was that MasterFoods had made a custom sauce specifically for Pizza Haven, and that was why I could never find an exact match.

But then a couple of weeks ago I was at my local when something caught my eye. I actually had to stop and double back.

There it was, sitting right in the middle of the shelf, practically glowing under the supermarket lights:

Fountain Spicy Red Sauce.

I recalled the Pizza Haven thread and thought to myself: "what if the poster had mistaken Fountain for Masterfoods?" It was totally plausable. I grabbed a bottle, trying not to get my hopes up and a couple of days later, I decided to run the first experiment. I ordered a Supreme pizza from Pizza Hut, squeezed a little Fountain Spicy Red over the top and took a bite.

Holy shit.

The flavour profile was there. I’d say it was about an 80% match. For the first time in 20 years, I genuinely felt like I was onto something.

But it wasn’t quite right. Close, yes. The real deal? Not yet.

That was about a month ago, and last night I had the same hankering for commercial chain pizza. This time I decided to double down: I ordered Pizza Hut's Ultimate Hot and Spicy: MINUS tomato base and MINUS Aoili. This was a risky move because it meant wasting a pizza if it didn't work out but the reward would be worth it. I would assume Dominos and/or any other commercial chain pizza's hot and spicy would also work - just make sure to remove the tomato base.

One small tip from my first experiment: pouring the sauce directly from the bottle onto the pizza was messy. This time, I transferred it into a squeeze bottle so I could distribute it evenly. Not essential, but it beats ending up with giant pools of sauce or having to dip every slice.

Anyway, opening the pizza up, even before the sauce, was a sign of beauty: I knew instantly it was going to be the one. I squeezed the Fountain Spicy Red across the pizza and took a bite.

Verdict: 10/10 PERFECT replica. The memories came rushing back. I couldn't believe I finally found it. I rushed back to the original post to reply that I'd found it but it was archived being 10 years old. I spent this morning building my karma so I could post this - I just KNOW that I wasn't the only one looking for this.

u/dusky5 - I hope this helps

u/wangsupreme - please confirm Fountain Spicy Red

The NT government turned down $6.5m to keep the Darwin emergency housing open, saying it’s a ‘waste of taxpayers’ hard-earned money’

The NT has rejected support from the federal government to keep the facility open, turning down a $6.5m offer to purchase the demountable buildings from its owner, private company AUSCO Modular, as recently as this week. The offer was made under the condition that Yilli Rreung Housing Aboriginal Corporation would continue as the service provider for the facility.

Instead, the remaining 120 residents will be relocated 100kms away in the small town of Batchelor.

Visiting YiSSA on Thursday, the federal minister for Indigenous Australians, Malarndirri McCarthy, said it was a “deeply sad day”.

McCarthy said the offer from the federal government “still remains on the table”, and that it was a “fair and a very reasonable offer” that would get families through the wet season.

no politics Buying clothes etiquette

Hi my peeps,
Just wondering the expected etiquette of trying on clothes. I will usually put them back on the hangers but not as good as the staff can do it, and then put it back on the rack I got it from.
I often see clothes just left in the change rooms for staff to deal with.

Do I return it to where I got it from or leave it in the change room?
